  1. Sad, but true...I'll be jumping for joy if we can just get over the.500 mark...And the twins are beating teams like SEA and OAK, teams that dominate us and when you win games like they did against Zito yesterday they still have some of that baseball magic in them. We still lost this series, even though we won this game. We have to sweep the Toons, no winning 3 of 4 or 2 or 3..we need a winning streak 8, 9 in a row We have not yet lost the series.....we can tie it tomorrow with our ace Loaiza Of course I hope the BJs do not tear into Loaiza given they know his weaknesses etc They might tear into him.... ...unless we trade for Kenny Lofton, right? Nah, I'm just messing around. The way I look at it....Tanyon Sturtze pitched well tonight....albeit for one inning....and he used to play for us, and he was much better back then. He shut our ass down. I've predicted a 3-2 White Sox winner for tomorrow.
  2. Not after one good start. He's worth a s*** right now....literally s***.
  3. I do agree wholeheartedly. However, the way this team has been playing, it is kind of hard to imagine them at this point in the season as division champions. However, when your team batting average is less then .250, you won't win anything. Only the hitless wonders could do something like that. This team has to start playing good before I can call us contenders for the division again. Winning 8-0 over any team is just one game out of many....we have not busted out of anything yet. However....I'd like to point something out to everyone. Remember how Maggs made the comment "We stink. That's it. We stink." last night? Anyone remember anyone else saying something like that? I do....check my quote of the week. Whether or not that is completely coincidental is beyond my thought process. That could be coincidental, or it could mean that Maggs is the leader of the clubhouse, and that whatever attitude he takes onto the field is the attitude the team will take onto the field. Personally, I'd rather have someone else be the leader of the team. Not because I don't like Maggs as a player, but because he just doesn't appear to play with much heart. He is a hell of a hitter....but he just makes it look so f***in easy. Then again, if we can make winning look easy....it's all fine and dandy with me.
  4. As a hypothetical situation.... In June and the first two days of July, the White Sox play 30 games....so, we'll say the Twins play 31. If the Twins go 17-14(.548 ball)....the White Sox would have to go about 24-6 to just tie them. A lead of 7.5 is not impossible to come back from....you're correct....but when you put it into perspective like I just did....you realize that it will take more then just a month to come back from that. Either we have to play very good ball while they play very bad ball and bury them in the standings similar to what they did to us last year, or we have to play better then them for 4 months. Either is possible, and, most likely, neither will happen.
  5. Jerry Manuel and Joe Torre are the only managers in the AL to have had their current jobs for 2 centuries. Did you know that? Also....IMO....if you switch who hires who...George hired JM and we hire Torre....and JM is under a lot of heat in NY....we are saying "Man, I wish we could get JM to come here....he'd be much better then Joe Torre." I could have won with the Yankees.
  6. I hate to be rude, but did you just open your eyes? The pitching staff, as a whole, has pitched better then we ever could have expected. If the pitching staff wasn't what it has been, we might not have 20 wins yet, let alone be in third place. We need the bats to wake up and do more then just have one outburst per week. We need them to score 5 runs a game....they score 5 runs a game, we win a lot more games then we have been.
  7. It was great to see a little offense today??? They just teased you. I promise tomorrow, there will be a very good pitcher's duel. Though it looks good....it really isn't. This team, when hot, has big innings. That is why we get into funks like this....because when you flat out don't get the big inning, you aren't going to get many runs. I'll try to make a prediction for the final score of tomorrow's game.... 3-2, White Sox win. We'll see if I'm right.
  8. That score is very misleading. The game was 2-0 for half of it and 0-0 for the other half. That 8-0 score was there for only 1.2 innings.
  9. If the Yankees don't get to the World Series, he should get his ass canned. With a $160 mill payroll, anything less then a World Series birth is a failure....and I, for some reason, don't see Joe Torre in a Yankees uniform next year....not as the manager anyways. They lost that Yankee aura during the 2001 World Series....and they somehow became beatable in the postseason last year. Like I said....I don't think Joe Torre will be wearing the NY pinstripes next year. Someone else will be.
  10. He doesn't like to be booed. As long as he isn't being booed, he pitches wonderfully.
  11. They would play worst than Jose is playing...i dont think so. Stick to soccer, Rafa, K? Oley, Oley, Ole, Oley.... This guys love Jose and his dick...i dont know why??? Jose is sucking offensevelly and defensevelly. Don't be an asshole....I like Jose as a player because of his range and what he helped us do in 2000. He is a SS with power. Of course I don't like him at the plate now....anyone that does is goddamn clueless. You find me a SS with 25 homer power that doesn't strike out 180 times, and I bet that he costs more than $5 mill. I was trying to be nice, but saying I like "Jose and his dick" is getting personal. I could say something about you liking "D'Angelo Jimenez and his dick", but I will not. I am mature enough not to resort to personal attacks. I could also say soccer is for dweebs....but I do not. Why? Because I am mature enough to respect your opinion on soccer. I personally do not like soccer....but I'm not attacking you, am I?
  12. They would play worst than Jose is playing...i dont think so. You'll either just have to take my word for it, or ask around. See what people say....ask them if a combo of Valentin-Jimenez or Jimenez-Miles looks better.
  13. Oh no....Jimenez is nothing compared to Valentin defensively....both good and bad. DJs glove is OK....but he has no range, and he doesn't have a great arm. If we have a combo of Jimenez-Miles up the middle....teams would kill us.
  14. Bulls***. Frank's job is to drive in runs. His damn walks with a runner on 2nd just sets up a DP. Frank is toast. His BBs may set up DPs, but the player has to hit the grounder to cause the DP. Frank is helping the team as much as possible right now. His bat speed is down, and whether or not he realizes that that is what is causing his struggles, he does realize that he is struggling. He is getting on base, and regardless of the fact that he is a station-to-station baserunner, he is still setting the tables to bring in runs. There should be an occassional DP....not a DP every time Maggs or Paul "Flat Tires" Konerko comes ups. Blame the guys who are hitting the DPs....not the guy who gets on base and is then a victim of the DP. Why not rag on Konerko instead of Thomas? Afterall, he is making more money than Frank is. Yes, Paulie ain't hitting a lick either. But Frank is 35 years old... he's done. Stick a fork in him. If he can't drive in runs, he's useless. IMO, you can never give up on a hitter that once was as good as Frank was. He gets his batspeed up, and he is the same dominant player that he was in 2000. I just don't know how you get his batspeed up, cause if he hasn't figured it out, then I don't know how you could get him to change it. I think he's gotten too big. He loses 20-30 pounds, and his batspeed might increase.
  15. Miles is a 2Bman, not a SS. And I don't even want to try DJ at SS. We'd have Royce Clayton defensively all over again.

  17. I got one hell of a crazy-ass idea right now. Bunt Konerko in this situation. Gives him confidence if he accomplishes it and it helps put RISP for Valentin....a flyball scores a run.
  18. 5.00 is the Navarro line? Man I would have thought 6.00 at least if not 7 or 8! If you take his career ERA, and his ERA with us, then they average out to around 5.00.....I guess. Anyways....what's the difference between a 5.00 ERA and an 8.00 ERA? They're both s***ty! But you get under 5.00...and you're a Cy Young candiate! Gosh....I thought everyone knew that.
  19. I don't know, but Garland, as of right now, is below the Navarro line. His ERA is 4.97, .03 points below the Navarro line.
  20. Should have mentioned that.... It is a Yahoo fantasy league
  21. Will he even be here in 11 months? Never know with these clowns. I don't know. I wish I could tell you, but I don't think there is such a thing as something that you can say is right about this organization. One day, some fans are declaring them world champions(like in the offseason), and a month later, you want to f***ing kill every last one of them. Then Ken Rosenthal writes an article about them that rips them apart, and they do....well....this. Garland has shutout the best offense in the majors through 6 innings. You wonder why we don't have many casual fans attend the games. Jeezus f***ing christ.
  22. We have gotten the former so far tonight. Let's hope we see the latter in about 11 months.
  23. What about the rest of the players though? If they use wooden bats, that'd cost a s***load of money from everyone. Maybe $40-$60 isn't that bad of a price range.....but aluminum bats do last a couple years before they lose their pop. At this point in my life....aluminum bats are all I have. However, I'm not stupid enough to pay $200-$300 for one goddamn bat. That's insane.
  24. Calm down...Frank get out of his slump...i dont think so. Green = sarcasm
  25. You don't give a guy that big of a % of your teams salary if your a lower market team or a lower payroll team. Its just not smart cause it handcuffs you with all other deals. I think they can sign him for 10 mill a year and at that price its alright to have one high priced guy. And there is no way that Maggs takes a 30% paycut. Heck someone will give him at least what he was making, if not more. SS2k3... Maggs at $10 mill a year is too cheap, however, he wouldn't necessarily be taking a 30% pay cut. He would be in the final year of his deal, and a lot of times, in the final years of deals, players get paid the most. 5 years, $60 mill....$12 mill a year.....would be good. He earns more per year then he does on his current contract(a little less then $10 mill a year) and he makes a little less in his first year then he does in his last year.
