You're not wrong. If I remember right....we were 15-7 at one point. Then again....Buehrle was pitching well during that time....and Ritchie was pitching well too. Lofton was hitting the cover off the ball....and we still had Ray-Ray. Funny how a team can go from relatively fast to slow as molasses in a matter of a year. Jas...it's sad to say it...but this team is apparently afraid to spend $2-3 mill on a "risk" such as Jose Cruz. I wish we could have that kind of risk in CF right now instead of Rowand. Hell, right now, I'd be very, very willing to give up quite a bit to get Beltran here from KC. I don't care if it's intra-divisional or what not....we need something to spark this offense, whether it be leading off, hitting 2nd, hitting 5th or wherever. Give them a s***load, if that's what it takes. Rauch, Rowand, and Malone....maybe someone else too. I'm sure they'd take it. And I'd be happy as hell with Beltran and not Rowand in CF.

Uh folks....this is ESPN. I expected nothing less out of these dumbasses.
-
Maybe he should come up with one that says "We suck ass. Deal with it."
-
Say Heather....how much do you weigh? Because if you weigh like 130 or so....something light-weight like that....GET FAT! Anything to try to get something going.
-
That's what I'd do. If I'm KW...I fire Ward....tempt Joshua big time to come back(give him $500,000 or so)...and if he does, and the offense still struggles...than Manuel gets the can.
-
I think it's probably a good time to start to look for the Aaron Rowand demotion-watch. Right now....what is this guy good for? I wouldn't mind firing Manuel....but I'd want a good replacement. A guy who will pump this team up and motivate them. I also wouldn't mind seeing Gary Ward go. His offense plan sucks ass.

that is very fair - you've not been here as much lately or have I just been missing your posts? I haven't been on here as much lately....been busy. I've had baseball on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3-5...and then I watch a little TV....then eat supper....then a little more tv....then it's the Sox game(most of the time). And when the Sox play the Twinkies....I can watch the game(most of the time). I've also been watching a bit more of the NBA and NHL playoffs....mainly the TWolves in the NBA....and just anything in the NHL....whatever's on. I get on when I can. This board is always entertaining.

Also agreed. Crede looks like s*** up there right now. Hoping him all the best in figuring it out. We're going to need him this year. Anyone know when he got into this funk? Because if it was shortly after that non-homer....I think it has something to do with it. I know he's struggled since then....just wondering if that's when it started.
-
I've been a big backer of Rowand in the past. Right now though....he is not hitting anything. He is playing very s***ty right now...so why have him up? Bring up Harris....bring up Borchard..hell, bring up f***ing that Yofu guy to play CF....all of them would probably be better than Rowand in CF right now.

Oh god dont start that crap again. As i said in the preseason, anything can happen against any team. Some of you guys had us winning almost all of our early games. You play them one at a time, no matter who the opponent. I'm not starting this crap again. I'm saying these next 3 weeks are huge....because they are. The next 3 weeks arent any more huge than any other 3 weeks in the season. LOL, amazing. Other than head to head, we play the EXACT same schedule as the royals and twins. How could any 3 weeks count more than another 3 weeks? Last time i checked, the team that wins the most games, wins the division. We dont get two wins for each game we win in your "three weeks" do we? If not, your logic is flawed. What I am saying is that we will play harder teams before the Twins(this week)....and if we come out with a better record than them after this time frame, then we are in good shape. They then have to play the A's and M's....while we play the likes of the Blue Jays, Tigers, and Indians. We'll gain 3-5 games right there...because the Twins will lose and we'll end up winning...or that's what will hopefully happen, anyways. If we come out with a much better record then them after May....we're in pretty good shape.

not a good comparison, my friend. There is no reason to kill a living creature just for the hell of it. An intentional attack is unexcusable on this large beautiful bird that does no one no harm and is part of the world in which we inhabit. People who are cruel to animals usually have other problems and it surely says something about character. Respect for life includes all life. This bird was not killed to feed a hungry person. It was killed for the hell of it, because someone could. And that is despicable. I am not good at making comparisons. I can tell you that. And I agree that it is cruel and sick. But, although it is a tragedy that the bird is dead...and that it was killed intentionally...he shouldn't be deported because of it. Ben Christiansen, or whatever his name was, intentionally tried to hit a person with his fastball....and it ruined a possible bright future for a kid by blinding him, and he basically ruined his life. And while letting Christiansen stay in the game of baseball was not the right decision....you have to follow that. Maybe that's what I meant to say and I am sorry for the poor comparison.

I'll also agree with that. While we're on the subject of the good things overlooked...why not bring up Flash Gordon? In Saturday's game...Jon Garland got tossed while pitching great, and there seemed to be no apparent reason why he was tossed, other than the fact that he hit Mientkiewicz in the ass. I didn't see Froemming throw out Lohse after he hit Maggs, who hit a homer his previous at bat....so why the hell did he toss Garland? Anyways....Flash came in on short notice, warmed up, and threw 2 1/3 very, very good shutout innings...and helped get the ball to Koch, who then gave up a 2-run dinger in the 9th. People who might not be able to watch the games look at stats and make assumptions that he's getting rocked....when in reality, our bullpen, aside from Koch, has thrown the ball real well....and the reason the stats are inflated like they are is because the opposition is killing the mistakes right now. Our bullpen really has to pitch pefect or else the ball will end up in the cheap seats. Our guys have looked good....their mistakes have just gotten the s*** hit out of them.

If in 3 weeks...the Sox have a better record than the Twins....I will pretty much know that we, as of right now, are in the driver's seat. KC is hopefully falling....I believe they finally are....and Minnesota plays Tampa 6 times, Boston 6 times, KC 4 times, and then us in a 3-game set. They'll have a relatively easy schedule, while we have a relatively hard schedule...playing Oakland 6 times, Seattle 6 times, Baltimore 3 times, and then Minnesota. These are huge because after this....we play Detroit, Toronto, and Cleveland in a stretch of 2 weeks...and Minny plays Oakland and Seattle. We'll be able to hopefully gain 3-5 games there as it is....and if we still have a 4 or 5 game lead on Minnesota at the time....we'll have made a big enough lead to where Minny can't really catch us without both us hitting a cold streak and them hitting an extremely hot streak at the same time. The odds of that happening are slim to none. I know it's not even May yet....but I think we could put ourselves in a very, very good position to take the division in these next 3-5 weeks.

Then again...last year at this time....the Angels were s***ty. And this year....the Reds moved from Cinergy to Great American Ballpark. I'm thinking that one would had to have been more humorous than their actual prediction, no? If so....it's kind of funny and ironic. If not....ESPN has proven me and everyone else on earth right....they are run by and have hired a bunch of idiots to write this s***.

Hard to close out big ballgames with both hands around your neck.
-
First of all....US Cellular. May as well get used to it. It's gonna be called that for 22 more years....or until it goes bankrupt....whichever comes first. And, by an educated guess, figuring in the "attack" on the ump and the s***ty weather, I'd say it's down.

Well, kick him out of baseball for being such a jerk. I really hate this guy... Ben Christiansen(?) for the Cubs a few years ago knocked a player out of baseball by hitting him in the eye. He wasn't kicked out. Karma caught up to him and he's had shoulder problems that have basically ruined his career...but he wasn't kicked out. Hell, you know that Ty Cobb even murdered people....and he wasn't kicked out. Hell, he's known as one of the best ever to play the game. The ultimate sin in baseball is to gamble/throw games. If you do that, and you are caught, you will be kicked out. Ryu will not get kicked out for killing a protected bird. He should be fined heavily and hopefully karma catches up to him as well....but he won't be kicked out.
-
Let me just say I don't think this team would move voluntarily. I know it was brought up that moving to Tampa was at one time a possibility. The only way this team would move would to be forced out. The only way this team would be forced out within the next 20 years is if the Cubs won a World Championship before us. We truly would be the forgotten team then. May as well put up like 15 in a row or so.
-
Not for killing a bird. I mean....it's a tragedy...but it's nothing way huge. I know the bird was protected....but still....it was a bird. That'd be like kicking someone out of a pizza place for chewing with their mouth open.
-
Loaiza also has the lowest ERA in the league. If he can get us 15 wins....that'd be huge. This 5 wins in April make him one of the better pickups in the league this year. I still wanna see how he does agianst a powerhouse team like the A's or Yankees. If you have a bad night against them....you'll be showering with 6 or 7 innings left.
-
We are at home...so we have the advantage. Let's sweep the s***head Athletics. I also hope that Foulke comes in to close out a game....and we rock the s*** out of him.
-
Ryu's an asshole....and hopefully karma catches up to him.

Agreed 100%
