We obviously have different tastes regarding movies. The White Sox are portrayed as the bad guys in Angels in the Outfield, and that is not good for us. Little Big League(is that the one with the kid managing the Twinkies? I think I'm thinking of the right one) was OK....but nothing special. And I hated Major League: Back to the Minors. It ruined the whole Indians thing...and got rid of too many good characters. I'd watch it if I had nothing to do....but I'm sure I could find something better on TV. The first two were great though. "Wild thing. You make my butt stink."

Thank you....and thank you too apu And no, I'm not a closet homosexual. I'm very straight.

That is perhaps the gayest thing I have ever read in my life. The only thing you guys didn't do is circle jerk together and pack fudge with each other. Making a guy stick his dick in a pear, dry hump a pillow, and have him spray paint his pubes? Frightening. Hey....I wasn't doing the daring. It was stupid s***....but, now that I think about it, that is pretty gay stuff. All my friends are straight though. i think you might just be in denial. Nope

If by well you mean that half the offense is barely hitting .200....than sure, both teams are playing well. We are not playing well...and have nearly the same record as the Cubs....and schedules can't be figured in. The Cubs have had to play like the Reds, Pirates, Mets, and Brewers? That's the AL's equivilant to the Royals, Tigers, and Indians....and soon to be Orioles. The Cubs haven't played tough competition....as we haven't either.

It's the best you can out for $5 mill.

Boo! cwsox sucks! ....jk Now I won't be able to talk s*** about the Dolphins anymore. Damn, I was looking forward to that so much.

yeah you may be right, however if we would not have traded him, then we can let him walk which we could have gotten a draft pick instead of getting fleeced in the trade. In KW's defense, at the time, the new CBA was being discussed, and there were rumors that compensation would not be given to teams that lost a player after offering him arbitration. Getting anything for Ray-Ray was his goal. I still think he could have gotten us something a little better than Jon Adkins though. you mention the magic words, should have gotten something better. it that is not the case, then don't make the trade. see if billy would have been hard press to sweeten the deal or then tough no deal. That's about the only beef I've had with the deal...and it's a big enough beef that it makes the whole deal terrible.....and everything surrounding the deal. We trade the best second baseman we've had since Nellie Fox for a guy that will be lucky to make it to the big leagues, let alone make a strong contribution? WTF is up with that?

My take on that was....when the throw beats you by 5 steps...and the game is already out of reach....the ump has made up his mind before you even slide. DJ was safe....or the play was atleast very close....but I'm not gonna argue. It'd be like arguing over which care you take to work....a Ferrari or a Porsche....but in reality....who the hell cares? You still win in the end.

Yeah that's gonna get ugly. One thing though, it will get much better ratings than the Subway Series. Not only because there's more interest...but because all the sports stations....regardless of what bias they have....will talk about the fact that one of the two longest World Series droughts would have to come to an end. You thought that Oakland was rioting after they lost the Superbowl this past year....that'd probably be what would happen after every game in the World Series. For one of the few times that I can think of....that World Series would be the biggest sporting event for the entire sporting year. Nothing, and I mean nothing would be able to match that. Even if it was a sweep where one team got totally dominated....people would be tuning in.

And it isn't gonna get any better for him on a team with a manager who's almost completely dependant on the BP. Luckily....we have a lot of good arms in the pen....and Manuel likes to use them all. Koch was pretty much a one-man show....he'd be used in a ton of situations....tie games, games that the A's were behind, as a situational righty, trying to get out of a jam that another pitcher got into....and he'd come in as closer. I think we'll have other guys for those types of scenarios. At the most....Koch throws 80 innings this year...and that's even too much, IMO.

what was his prob at the end of last season, do you remember. Fatigue. Nowadays, closers generally work 75-80 innings...tops. Koch worked about 95....15-20 too many. Those last innings were hard as hell. It is the same reason rookie players will find it hard to play a full season. They are not used to being worked that hard.

I gave him credit earlier in the thread.

Some good conversation thus far....very entertaining to read. 247....the Cubs have scored 10 runs a game because their offense is on f***ing fire. Once their offense cools off a bit....they'll be a .500 or worse team. They don't have the developed talent to win 90 games. I know this has been asked before...but it's gotten me scared thinking about it. Say in the next few years...the Sox and Cubs are both tearing it up. Both make the playoffs...and cruise through them. They meet in the World Series....what the hell happens to the city of Chicago as we know it? I couldn't imagine what the fans of either side would do at the end. That'd be f***ing hell. There is no interleague rivalry quite like the White Sox and Cubs.....and IMO, there never will be.

Travis Hafner the same travis hafner that bartolo blew away on 3 pitches last night with 98 mph fastballs Hey....Hawk and DJ like him. What's the worth?
-
We played an all-around good game. In my mind....there is nothing we can criticize the Sox for in this game EXCEPT that Koch's velocity is still way down. He was hitting like 88-91....and the homer Hafner hit was on a 91 MPH fastball....91 MPH is normally a f***ing changeup for Koch. Otherwise....we were very good with the leather....I can think of 5 or 6 very good plays that we made(and that is at the very least...it could quite possibly be more than that). We hit the ball well, we ran the bases well(except when DJ got thrown out at home trying to tag up)....and other than Stewart being quite shaky....the pitching was also very good. If you play a game like this....you will win it 80% of the time. Cleveland could have played a solid defensive ballgame...and we still would have won.
-
Not only is his offense starting to come to life, he's playing very well in LF. I don't care what some of you say about his defense because no matter what he does, in your mind, he'll always suck. But today he made a VERY nice sliding catch to end the game, and earlier in the game he charged a ball hard and prevented a run from scoring on a single. And yesterday he made a very nice play and nearly got Omar on a ball that he hit down the line. Carlos' arm is very accurate and he is actually out there hustling. You can't fault a guy for that - and if you do, you're a fool. I'll admit it....Carlos is playing better in LF too. He still has limited range though.

Baggs....what teen models do you look at? The ones I see probably can't even weigh 90 pounds. isnt that about what aaron is hitting Last time I checked, it's more like a hefty girl's magazine model....atleast 175 or so.

Is Crede really that slow?!! I always thought he could run fairly well. Oh well, then again he's no Willie Harris. CWSOX45 Crede's a friggin turtle. That Marlins team will steal a lot of bases....they might steal 400 by the end of the year....and if Pierre keeps his hitting up, he might have 100 by the end of the year. They'll surprise a lot of people by how good they actually are. I wish we could trade Manuel to Florida for Torborg. Valentin would have 25 steals, DJ would have 30, Maggs would have 30, Lee would have 30, Olivo would have 30(in limited time), Rowand would have 25....hell, Thomas, Crede, and Konerko would probably combine for about 25 or 30 as well. Rios would have 15 or 20 off the bench...and Sandy would probably have a few too. You'd see delayed steals, double steals....all of those. If we had Torborg as manager....we'd be scary as hell. The only thing I don't like about Torborg is that he overworks his pitchers....I wouldn't want to see Colon throw 130 pitches a night....with his mechanics as bad as they are....that would be a sight that isn't good.

carlos was doing his cerrano imitation from majoe league...he looked exactlty like him Maybe he is of the voodoo religion and he worships Jobu. And when he starts struggling, he says to his bat "f*** you Jobu, I do it myself." And then he holds his hands below his nuts and runs around the bases, yelling "Marbles. Marbles."
-
Lee woulda whooped his ass....but for that matter, Crede would have as well. He kind of looks like a farm boy....the nice one who has a side where he is a mean, ass-kicking son of a b****

Put it this way....I'd rather be playing s***ty baseball right now than in June or August....or hell, even May for that matter. All 3 of those months are going to be hard as hell....and I'm thinking August is gonna be the toughest(we hit the west coast....ouch). To be a good team, you have to beat the good teams. Plain and simple.

Carlos is starting to hit better....I like that. I'm still not a big fan of his.
