  1. Oh damn....thank god. KW gets a pat on the back for getting us these two guys. They will help us out this year.
  2. Colon's gotta pickup his teammate right here. Let's go Bartolo
  3. Chunk, you're watching the game right? Did Lee try to kill the ball? I gotta feeling he tried to go for it all....because if he did, he's STILL being a dumbass. You don't go for the homer in that situation....rarely do you ever go for a homer. If you get a basehit, you are still on base, and the rally can keep going. Homers often do end rallies. Someone has to get the point across to him that homers aren't always the good thing....and they will come with trying to hit for basehits.
  4. aaron better be doing it with the glove or he would totally worthless If he doesn't get it going with the bat(which I do personally think he will), we'll see Borchard this year.
  5. The pitching has been great....and the offense will heat up. If you want to complain about one thing....the only thing you could complain about is the offense. The pitching and defense have been better than expected.
  6. You got the name Mike South though too. How many does that have, like 900?
  7. after todays game it should be........ I wonder if the team dinner will be at the Country Buffet tonight - could me fun! All those buffet tables... There won't be any food on the tables to have hit the floor though. Not with Bartolo on the team
  8. fingers crossed for danny Me too
  9. Good things happened in this game DJ hit the ball well....dumbass, or Carlos Lee(whichever you prefer to call him), started to hit a little better, Manuel managed the team a little better, Tom Gordon was sharp and this time actually got good results, and we showed some life at the end of the game with Joe getting a 2-out 2-run hit in the 8th. And Thomas missed a 3-run jack by about an inch. He just got under one. But point blank....we sucked today, and hopefully, we don't suck tomorrow. I wanna be .500+ when April is over....because we'll get rolling when the weather gets hotter.
  10. Flash got his ass saved by Aaron today
  11. That'd be about the only way to say it....it just wasn't your day. All teams have days like it. We didn't play particularily bad, and they didn't play particularily good...but they won. That's life.
  12. The Twins will lose to the friggin Tigers The Indians will lose to the friggin Tigers The Royals will lose to the friggin Tigers And several other teams in the other divisions will lose to the friggin Tigers No team has ever lost 162 games(let alone 125) and no team has ever won 162(let alone 120)....they were going to win eventually, and it just so happened that it came against us. Just because they beat us doens't make them a good team...they'll still probably lose 110-115 games.
  13. Everything was hit on the head here....nothing more to say really. Thomas just missed a homer in the 8th....got a little under it. And in Comiskey...I'd have to think that ball is atleast very close to being gone. We got lucky when Bocachica dropped that ball....but played bad fundamental baseball when Aaron was thrown out at second. You are supposed to go half way on flyballs like that....you learn that in little league. He obvioulsy didn't, because if he had gone half way, the instant that ball hits the heel of Bocachica's glove and bounces around....Rowand is off to 2nd and we have the bases loaded with no outs. Also....we got really f***ing unlucky in the 3rd or 4th when Graffy lined to first for a double play. A matter of inches to Paquette's right, and Lee makes it back to 1st....a foot to the right of Paquette, and we have 2 runs on the board....it sucks when that kind of stuff happens....but it happens. We were going to lose to them eventually...and the Twins will too....as will the Royals, Indians, and practically every other team in the league. We just happened to hand them their first win....no big deal. If this were to happen in June....no one would have cared. It just would have been another loss. If our players get down because of this loss....then we may as well give up. Damn...can't even use one of the fun new buttons to describe this loss...maybe a classic :puke would work
  14. Unless he inherits runners on base inheriting the bases loaded with 1 out an only giving up one run is good in my opionion. Trust me when I say I'm not just talking about last nights game. Besides, Marte..... or any other relief pitcher brought in with one out and bases loaded for that matter..... is supposed to get an out without any runs scoring. cubkilla..me and you used to joke about how everytime marte came in the game with a runner on they should just quit wasting our time and just let him score ...but from the 2nd half of last year this guy has been about as good a reliever as their is in baseball....no one can seem to hit this guy hard...after he found his control within the strike zone last year he was just unbelievable...its williams best move by far KW's best move up to this point. The jury's still out on the Colon move....even if Colon flops, you CAN'T call this a bad move. If you can get a top tier starter for two decent relievers, a backup OF/1B type, and a mediocre prospect....you do it. That in itself is a very good move....and one you can't pass up. Now if Colon can help lead us to the promised land....then that will be KW's best move.....by far. Also...in doing this....he made 1 player very, very, very happy....that playing being Jeff Liefer. Liefer is now getting a chance to start in Montreal....and we all know that he'd wanted to start for a couple years...and with his 2001 stats, he deserved to start somewhere. If he can be that good with the bat....he could be a helluva hitter some day. Maybe the next Ryan Klesko
  15. And he was "smart" enough to realize that in midair, he should land on his left shoulder instead of his right, giving his baseball career another chance. Damn....someone told a story on here about how his dad and his dad's friends were cliff climbing...and they fell like 120 feet....and his dad survived....or something like that. I can't remember who told it....but it was a pretty touching story when I read it ....goes to show how fragile life is.
  16. I'm sure you could find it on ESPN's website somewhere. If not....just watch a lot of the ESPN networks....you'll see it eventually
  17. so what does that say about garland starting a playoff game on a cold ocotber night??? It's October and not April Now, we're playing in the real season...but what do these 4 or 5 games pitched mean compared to 3 or 4 games pitched in October? One means a chance at winning the whole f***ing thing....and the other means virtually nothing. One means that if you throw out your arm in the last game you pitch and you pitched well, you saved your team....the other means that if you throw out your arm in the best game you pitched, you are a dumbass and should be slapped. When something is actually on the line....he hopefully realizes it and doesn't f*** around.
  18. I love Hudson's line....pretty damn funny. I saw one with Stonecold as well....Dan Patrick is getting a cup of coffee, and Stonecold is reading something....they go on to talk about something, and Patrick knows just the trick....and he hits him in the back with a fold-up chair twice. Pretty funny stuff. I like the one where there are left over muffins and bagels in the conference room too. They do have some damn funny commercials....I'll give them that.
  19. Huh? What game did he blow? That 12-6(or whatever the score was) loss to KC? I wouldn't blame that game on Gordon.....we played like s*** defensively, and we were being squeezed on calls(or atleast 1 in particular). In the top of the 7th....Thomas was rung up on a check swing....and it was a fair call....not that I necessarily agreed with it, but it wasn't a bad call by any means. The next inning....with 1 out....and a runner on first....Sweeney came up....and on a 2-2 count....a scenario that was EXACTLY the same as what happened to Thomas occurred....and it was called ball. Bad calls are a part of baseball....and always will be. But what pisses me off is when an ump is calling the same call two different ways. Sweeney got on, and Marte came in to get Ibanez....Ibanez hit it and the ball was slowly grounded to Crede. He stepped on third, but couldn't get Ibanez at first....and a huge inning took place after that. Gordon didn't pitch well....but we played like s***, and the umping wasn't fair. We deserved to lose that game. If you blame that loss on Gordon....than you are foolish. If that is the case....then you are blaming the 5-4 loss on Graffy, Konerko, and White.....because if Graffy makes a good throw/Konerko digs out the bad throw/White doesn't give up Randa's homer.....we win that game or atleast have it tied and are going to extra innings. You are placing blame unfairly on Gordon. You win as a team and you lose as a team....period.
  20. As long as LA gets the s*** knocked out of them....I'll be happy.
  21. The only thing he has working for him is that we have won with him as manager. Otherwise....I do pretty much agree. Maybe with his arguing two calls....he is going to change his ways. Wait a minute...what the f*** am I saying....
  22. Roman....I assume you are joking. You NEVER get rid of a guy that throws a 96 MPH fastball and has a 12-6 curve. He's getting squeezed for calls right now....they are giving him nothing. It has to be perfect or it is a ball....when you get the mentality that it has to be perfect...you are going to suck. According to you....the Twins should get rid of LaTroy Hawkins....because he has worse stuff than Flash. Hawkins throws a fastball and a changeup....and Flash can mix in a changeup now and then too. I personally don't think the Twins will be getting rid of Hawkins any time soon. On another note....I can't remember who....it was either Brandofan or Jim fainter....but one of them mentioned that we get going when we play small ball......constantly getting singles and not hitting for homers....knowing they will come. In the first inning...we had no homers...(hell, did we even have an XBH?), but we had walks and singles up the ying yang....and we were hitting the cover off the ball....BAM....5 runs on the board. According to what others were saying on this board....that we were "just missing" some homers....we went back to the styles of 2001 and 2002....and we scored 2 runs the rest of the game. Given, Davis and the rest of the Cleveland pitching pitched a little better after that....but we had our chances...and failed miserably. We cannot let those opporunities escape if we wanna win a ton of games. Homers do not win games....timely hitting wins game. As Hawk has said many times...."Don't tell me what you hit, tell me when you hit it."
  23. And you know what's sad? If we don't get close this year....it could be the last chance we have for atleast a year....and probably 3 or 4 before we even start to compete again.
