Can someone help me out. Does anyone understand what this stuff means? signed Sox Management LOL
-
Damn, I just missed Frank then. I tuned in during the middle of Gale Sayers Within 2 years....4 or 5 of those names could be off the list. The least likely is Frank Thomas. If we fail this year...he'll stay on that list, unless he is playing somewhere else and winning.

I think it's about time for Josh Reed to step up. If he steps up and plays well....it will take the double coverage off Moulds a little. The Bills are also gonna try to do more running this year. I personally think that move might come back and bite the Bills in the ass. Henry was a guy that fed off having the field spread out by Price and Moulds, and got a ton of yards that way. I hope he proves me wrong. Also....Olandis Gary will probably play a little receiver too. It sure as hell wouldn't surprise me if he did anyways. I'd also disagree about the Bills defense being s***ty. It won't be good....but it won't be god-awful. By bringing in Sam Adams and Takeo Spikes, they've brought in some run-stoppers. That was their glaring hole defensively was stopping the run. Chris Kelsay seems to be a solid DE too....hopefully he'll help a little. I think the secondary is pretty good too. Also....as old as Seau is...I think he is a good addition and strengthens an already strong defense in Miami. I still don't see the Jets finishing that high....I feel that they needed their 2 picks in the first round and that the Bears could have used their 4th pick overall. I feel that both teams lost in the trade. Also....I may have been wrong with the Pats. As I said...I didn't follow their draft as closely.

I said I wanted Jose Cruz in December and January...when he was still a FA. Hindsight is 20-20....but IMO, it was a win-win situation.
-
I am sure he did! As I was watching him, when he misssed the play - and there was no way he could have made it - I was thinking, great hustle, great try! and then he just laid there and the play kept happening -- runners running the bases, scoring, the ball being thrown into the infield - and D Lo laid there like a pouting child Either he was trying to get a catnap real quick....or if he was pouting, his mom didn't let him get candy at the store.
-
I also would have taken Jose Cruz Jr in a heartbeat.
-
It depends. You tell me we don't get Colon if we sign Ray...I don't sign him. You tell me we do get Colon even if we sign Ray...I sign him without thinking twice. I guess what no one(including myself) has considered is that if we sign Ray long term....we can still get Colon. PK just doesn't get his extension....and that, IMO, is fine by me. We just have to know that a guy like Colon could come up and show up in a White Sox uniform before hand. That was about the worst move of the offseason by KW....giving PK a big contract....or atleast giving him $8 mill a year or so. That's way too much. $5 mill a year at most is what Konerko is worth, IMO.
-
It wouldn't hurt my feelings if he said he might try to roll the dice on an idea of his.
-
Maybe he had an all-nighter the previous night?
-
He's have better numbers than either of our 'great' CFers, I can tell you that for sure. He'd also be breaking up the righties in the middle of the order, making pitchers make adjustments. Sad thing is....if he were hitting like .250 3 10....less than great numbers for a guy like Cruz....those would be killer numbers from our CFers combined. It truly is sad.

Of course it's a good thing that Carlos is getting on in the first inning...but IMO, he should have more than 5 at-bats in the first thus far. This team's offense is too good to not have him getting up more than 5 times a month. PK.....he's the true mystery. I hope he can figure something out. He's killing us.
-
I hope we can surprise too....get 2-3 wins....hell, if we can come out over .500....I'd soil myself. I know we have Buehrle going in game 1 against the A's...Garland in 2 and I suppose Loaiza in 3. Wright will probably take the mound in game 1 of the M's series....with Colon and then Buehrle going. If we can get some real good pitching out of Mark....and a solid outing or two out of Garland, Loz, Wright, and Bart...we got a shot at making this a winning series. I'm not still not too optimistic.
-
Two things really drew my attention. Carlos Lee....OBP in the first inning - .800. Carlos Lee....OBP in late inning pressure situations.... .091. Paul Konerko....ditto - .429. Paul Konerko....ditto again - .100 What in the hell is that? They may help set the tone early....but they haven't helped the team late in the game. I then look at Crede....who's probably looked the worst out of any of our big slugger-types right now....and in late inning pressure situations.... .462. He's hitting like a buck over his last 10-15 games....and those may be inflated a little from prevous games...but point blank, he isn't getting out. Only Konerko has the excuse of not hitting well....because he has been absolutely god-awful at the plate. It doesn't mean he can't get on base though. If given the chance...I'd trade either in a heartbeat. I've mentioned who I'd trade who to and what I'd get in return....but I've said that enough.
-
If they win a game...that's a goddamn accomplishment. If they go 3-3....that'd take a friggin miracle.
-
The players normally are the ones failing. You don't fire the players though. You fire the manager. I've said this before....I don't necessarily want a manager that is always yelling and is angrier than hell...like Lou Piniella. I want a manager that makes good decisions, plays small ball, stands up for his players, argues when necessary, and helps get the team motivated. Manuel rarely does the prevously noted....he has stood up for his players...has made some good decisions....has played some small ball...does argue occassionally....but he can't get the team motivated, and he doesn't do the things he does do right enough. He also micromanages too much...and is too tinker-y. I'd take Valentine or Backman....either would be fine my me. I just want Manuel out of here.
-
If my leadoff hitter is hitting .330 and actually has speed...he can drive in 30 runs if he wants to.
-
The Twins aren't perfect....but I guarantee you that you can't find me a hole on their team. They are very deep in the OF...they are deep in the IF....they have solid starting pitching, and a killer bullpen. They also play fundamental baseball, which is an added bonus. The firing of Manuel would do many things....but the hiring of a guy that stresses fundamentals would bring us up to the umpteenth potential. We obviously need more team speed....a guy that can do a lot of things with his speed. Those guys you mentioned....Valentin, Lee, Maggs, DJ, and Olivo...they can't do that. Guys like Ray-Ray, Stewart, Harris....those are the guys who do it. One thing though....you can win with very little to no speed. The A's last year, before Durham, had no speed whatsoever. They played Earl Weaver ball...and still do play Earl Weaver ball. The difference between them and us is the fact that they play fundamental baseball....they make the plays you need to make and then some....they hit the cutoff man, they hit the ball to the right side to advance runners, they get sac flies, they bunt when necessary....they do more then we do. If not for our strong pitching....right now...we'd be in the cellar....probably not as bad as Detroit...but worse than Cleveland.
-
No...I disagree. He can be a good manager. He is a good manager for a young team that doesn't need any motivation to play. A young team feeds off their own energy. Apparently....our team can't play with enough energy to even make the game exciting. Maybe they don't have a passion for the game and they should all retire.....all except about 8 players.
-
Then again what? This is the White Sox?
-
I wouldn't trade for Botch right now if I was a GM. Big contract and the only team he's had a save against this year is Detroit. Only way I take him if I'm a GM is in a package deal. I think the Red Sox would take him. And if not the Red Sox...trade he and Konerko to Arizona for some speed and pitching. Take on about $5-7 mill of their contracts though. I know I'd take Batista/Patterson, McCracken....and maybe some others as well. They need some offense....so I'm sure they'd welcome Konerko and take a shot on him. I believe he also lives near Phoenix in the offseason...that'd be great for Konerko as well. I can't remember where Botch lives in the offseason though. And I also agree with whoever said use Wright as closer. I've said Wright could close before and do a great job. He can get it up to 94-95 as it is....that's pretty good heat....as good as Koch's....but then you add in his knuckle-curve and a solid changeup....and he could be a pretty good closer. A rotation of Colon, Buehrle, Batista, Garland, and Loaiza with a bullpen of Wright, Marte, Gordon, White, Wunsch, and Glover....along with possibly a 12th pitcher....and we have a damn good pitching staff. We also need a good manager to go along with that...and Manuel is not that good of a manager.
-
Would you rather your manager say in the papers that he is panicking? That they have no control and don't know what to do? What the hell do you expect him to say? Maybe not "I'm panicking" but something to the extent of "this team needs a kick in the ass" or something like that. He sure as hell didn't need to say "we need to be patient."
-
I'd prefer our change be firing Manuel....I'm too tired of being patient.
-
This is a do or die season....and he wants us to be patient? For all those who can't seem to understand why we want this guy fired....this is why. No panic-mode. He is a lackadazical kind of manager....and it rubs off on our players.
