I still hold the hope that if this team gets rolling....nothing will be able to stop them. Give this offense some solid starting pitching(what we have received all year long) when it is at its best...and you will have a team that will win 65% of its games. We gotta get the offense going before then though. This team needs a spark...we need something. We sure as hell didn't need the laziest f***ing player in the majors to help "spark" this team. If going like 16-20 or whatever the hell we are is a spark....we're dicked.

Or the days where Wilbur Wood started both games of a double header.
-
He apparently wasn't.
-
Never ever think this team can show up 2 days in a row against a good opponent, I don't have to bury this team, it does a great job of that themselves. Well today it did.... CWSOX45 Doesn't help when your ace who depends on good control and mising up his pitches walks 6 guys. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that.
-
I'd have to see how he did in 3 or 4 starts....but I'd definately take him.
-
The positive about Torborg is the fact that he would make our offense deadlier than it is. His way of running all the f***ing time would drive other teams crazy. They'd always have to watch out for a SB, and to keep us from stealing, we would see a lot more fastballs. Fastball = more balls not landing. The negative about him is his overabuse of the pitching staff. We'd have to see about that. I tend to agree with RPS...if given a good bullpen, he'd use it quite a bit.

The starters already did step up. Don't you remember April? Our team ERA had to have been under 4.00. With a decent offense, and a team ERA under 4.00, you will win 15 games. We, right now, have a very s***ty offense. Changes need to be made. We need a speedy guy at the top....I've suggested Olivo leading off atleast once. It'd atleast be worth a shot.

On the flip side, you could say that at least lately, we've been getting baserunners on TO strand. We brought some home last night too. Maggs with a huge triple(don't tell me what you hit tell me when you hit it), Crede with a run-scoring DP. We looked a lot better last night. As did Colon, after giving up the homers. He made 2 bad pitches last night....and the M's hit them both.
-
Weird conspiracy theory here, but it may be true. Do you suppose KW asked his sons to do this?
-
Like Crede. He still looks like s*** up there...but has hit over .300 over about the past 5 or 6 games or so. That's pretty good for a struggling hitter. Daubach is coming into one of those hot streaks where he is going to get quite a few hits. It'd be a good idea to keep Paulie on the bench and let Dauber take 1B for about a week or so.
-
No to all of the above. It ain't happening. How about we worry about this s*** come July?
-
Having a minor league board would be nice. That way we could keep major league and minor league stuff seperate.

I think if he gets a brain, he will be a star. He's just too f***ing stupid. If he's under pressure, he'll try to make something out of nothing, like great QBs in the past have done. In those situations, you throw it away. You don't try to do those kinds of things early in games. I bet Daunte's INTs cost the Vikings atleast 2 games this year....maybe 3. In a 16 game season...those could have been huge. Not to mention the catastrophe that was the Vikings-Packers game at Lambeau last year. :fyou refs! The Vikings could have been 8-8 or quite possibly a 10 win team last year. Instead....they were 6-10.

Yan has 23 steals? Holy s***. Ruddy's a master base-stealer.

Followed by everyone s***ting bricks of gold.

JOE COWLEY RIPS kw TO SHREDS!!!..PLAYERS TOO

Right now....I'm most definately not sure if I want to do good on this Seattle trip(management wise). Of course I'll be rooting my ass off for the White Sox....but if the guy that will be holding his hand is Gary Ward....then I won't be as sad if we lose. If it is Jerry Manuel...I might not be as sad either. I think that's the best way to put it...IMO anyways. Guys aren't cheering against the White Sox....they just won't be as sad if they lose. I am not going to be rooting against the White Sox....but if we get swept badly and completely manhandled by the M's....and it gets Gary Ward out of here...I won't be as sad. -
The Vikings gave Culpepper a $102 mill contract for 10 years today, for those who don't know. What I'm wondering is what in hell are they thinking? This is a guy that, though he is coming off a 3800 yard passing season, is also coming off a season where he threw more INTs than touchdowns. That would be like giving a baseball player a huge contract extension and giving him a ton of money for going 12-15 with a 3.75 ERA. You just don't do it.

I might have to differ on that one. He's not only made some bold moves to make the team better, he's gotten pitchers with good stuff who have had success in the past to help the team. Wells had been a great pitcher before. Also....Todd Ritchie was a pitcher who had just gotten unlucky and had put up some good numbers in the past. That was his sleeper pick....that kept on sleeping. I think Colon will work out for him though. -

I am in shock....that was a great article. However...I disagree largely with Cowley on one thing. He is, for some reason, ripping the Colon trade. I have two beefs with this....1, the season has barely started and he's already saying Colon has f***ing sucked and will suck this whole year. I don't get it. 2, he doesn't take into consideration that he got Colon for a guy that was a pinch-hitter type, one aged, injured goods pitcher in Osuna and another pitcher in Biddle who was the only guy that was going to do anything with us whether it be starting or pitching in the pen, and then Lantigua. When you get a guy of Colon's stature for dirt-cheap like that, you do it. That was a great move by KW. -
I assume no hits right? Or do they get a few seeing-eye singles? Agreed though. That'd be great.
-
Hey, you aren't the only one with lower back pain. Occassionally, I'll get some lower back pain to where I can't do a hurdler's stretch and get to half way down my shins. For some....that may seem hard as it is. But I'm a tall, skinny kid....and I'm pretty flexible, considering I'm a guy. Since then, I haven't benched. That's what does it to me....benching kills me.
-
Two things....first of all....you might want to point out what you are talking about. I'm sure I said what you called me out on....but I really have no idea. Second....I'm probably not the only one that was happy about Jimenez being benched. The dips*** missed a pop-up. If you miss the pop-up that he missed....you deserve to be benched. He was. Regardless, Jimenez is one of the reasons we are losing right now. This lazy-f*** has not exactly helped us. Continuing to lay on the ground after you miss a ball is UNACCEPTABLE, period. If you do that....then you deserve to be released. This is the MLB, not Little League. I think someone forgot to tell him that. If you haven't noticed....we are much more successful against lefties with Val in the lineup and not Jimenez. Something tells me that isn't coincidental. This team plays better with Jose out there, and plays worse with DJ out there. The only guy actually hitting? In case you didn't notice....this past game, where Jimenez was benched....we scored 8 runs. 8 runs from a struggling offense is incredible. Something tells me he ain't the only guy hitting. Take off the rose-colored glasses and look and see that we are losing. If you are losing....it doesn't matter if a guy is hitting 60 or 70 homers. It just doesn't. Winning is the most important thing....not if a guy is hitting.

How many walks?
-
he was past, history, ego, and looking for his numbers, not a team guy - why play the fading past rather the developing future? I understand that much. But he still would have put up good numbers somewhere. Note the fact that I'm saying good numbers and not necessarily things to help the team win.....nor am I saying he'd help team chemistry or would be quiet in the press. Why play the fading past over the developing future? For starters....the fading past could still make a bigger and better contribution to the team now then a developing player would. I realize that a team like the Tigers wouldn't be in contention anyways....but it would add another bat to their lineup....which is f***in terrible as it is. He'd put up good numbers. I'm sure a team like the DRays or Tigers could have used a .260 30 100 guy last year....hell, the Tigers could use one now. It, IMO, is rather sad. Why would you just let a team that is dying continue to die? I'd try to do something....Canseco has like 462 career dingers....and if a team like Detroit or Tampa picked him up....he could try to add to that total. Can you imagine what his 500th homer would do to attendance? I don't care who it is...if a guy might hit his 500th homer, you show up to the damn park.
-
I have no idea what his lifestyle is - but his Charlotee numbers say a lot If I am Tampa Bay do I play the past or the future? If you feel that you are major league quality....and it is quite possible that you are(I feel he was...we just didn't have room)....aren't you going to be a little depressed playing in the minor leagues of an organization that will only need you if an injury comes up and you are supposed to be some sort of mentor? I'm I'm Jose in that situation....I probably wouldn't have good numbers either. In fact....I don't think anyone would. He would have played for anyone.
