  1. Ugh..get off of it already! f***, the guy's gone...he didn't do all that great for the team...blah blah blah. Can't you get it out of your system? HE'S NOT ON THE TEAM ANYMORE...HE PLAYS ELSEWHERE. :fyou to anyone who brings his name up again Does it count if I say Chioce K-layton?
  2. We'd get more for Carlos because he is cheaper, has more plate discipline, and isn't as damn slow as Konerko. I don't give a s*** about all-star what not....Choice K-layton was once an all-star....is he worth more than Lee because of it? Hell no. GMs are not as interested in Konerko as they are Lee....if anything....they are interested in both equally. Carlos makes less though by about $3 mill....you don't think that plays a large factor in a GM's thinking? Killa....the only way around trading Lee would be having both Miles and Graffy on the 25-man and then trading Graffy...as that would open up a spot. Either that or else we would have to trade Konerko....and I don't want to trade Konerko, nor do I think we would receive market value for Konerko. If Carlos is having a good year up to the trade deadline...and he became available....we could get quite a bit for him.
  3. baggs....the Rangers are saying he'll be back before you know it(like before opening day). He'll be fine....don't worry about it
  4. clujer, you're right...I did make a typo. My bad. Anyways...the reason I don't put Borchard in CF is because though he has good range for a big guy in CF....we'd be better defensively with Borchard-Rowand-Maggs from left to right(or right to left....it doesn't really matter). Defense is underestimated in today's game....but it shouldn't be by us. We see incredible defense that is the main reason a team won the division last year 19 times a year. I think you know who I'm talking about. Anyways....if we dealt Lee, we improve our defense dramatically and don't take that big a hit offensively either....and we cut payroll. If a team offers a decent pitching prospect and a good backup catcher type for Lee....do you do the deal? I know I do.
  5. Don't get me wrong...I want Wright in the rotation as long as possible. But if he struggles 3 years down the road...he could get demoted to the pen and then be used as a setup man/closer. I like Wright's stuff as much as baggs does....I remember seeing him on ESPN once, and I absolutely fell in love with his stuff. If he can learn how to use that effectively....watch out. We could have a helluva rotation in the near future(especially if we keep Colon)
  6. I don't think either Visquel or Mesa will still be around in '05. They're too old. Someone is gonna have to change teams for this matchup to happen. Selig should force that to happen "in the interests of the game". You mean like making the victor of the All-Star game getting homefield advantage in the World Series? I agree whole heartedly! Do this now!
  7. 247...if that happened, we seriously would win 173 games! We don't need Garland to pitch like we know he can....it would be nice, but it is unnecessary. We don't need Thomas to return to his 90s form....it would be nice, but unnecessary. Konerko and Maggs will put up similar numbers....no worries there. Buehrle and Colon will be good enough...no worries there. Lee can dumbass(used as a verb in this instance, just to let you know) around again if he wants to....it's all good with me. We need some things to come through for us...like Jimenez having a solid year, Rowand having a solid year, Olivo having a solid year...and then we will be fine.
  8. actually cal eldred might be the cal eldred of '00 ..man is he having a good spring for st louis Jeez Cal is a stud....it would be a helluva story if he came back and helped St. Louis win a pennant and then eventually a World Series. Kile tragically dies the previous season...and then a guy comes from his baseball grave to give it one last chance and helps them win it all. They'll (hopefully) have to get by us first.
  9. Cut down this damn quote.... Anyways....Paulie makes $7 mill or so this year....and is guaranteed about $16 mill more after this year. He plays 1B(which is a very power friendly position), doesn't have much range, and is slower than molasses. He turns the 3-6-3 like no other, and will probably hit real well eventually. However...in the new CBA....that is too much money for teams to take on. He becomes less attractive just because of how much $$$ he makes. Lee makes about $3 mill less and isn't guaranteed the contract...so if the team wants, they can get rid of him at the end of the year. And then you consider that he is a 1Bman(and it is easy to find a power hitting 1B....hell, the Red Sox have like 2 or 3 of them)...and he is instantly unattractive. We could get much more for Lee than we could for Konerko...which is why I deal Konerko. And trust me...I wouldn't be sorry if he went on to be great....that would not only be good for the relationship between the Sox and the team we traded him to, but it would also get rid of the worst baserunner in the majors and a terrible defensive LF who is a better fit for DH. I won't miss his bat at all....Joey B's is fine with me and Daubach's and Rowand's are pretty good as well....good enough anyways.
  10. You are basing that comment on what? Our offense that will probably lead the world in runs? Our rotation that has one of the best 1-2 punches in the game? Or our bullpen that very well could be lights out? Which exactly is it? Well let's not be overconfident. We've got potential to go far, but theres a much bigger chance of things going wrong than everything coming together. The last 2 seasons pretty much proved that. The last two seasons we had Choice K-layton....coincidence? I think not. This team has a very good chance of gelling....the biggest ego on the team is Thomas...and he's the same ego-type as Barry Bonds....all about himself, but does want the team to win. They do it in different fashions...but is essentially the same. We have no pitcher with an ego, aside from Koch....and he is a good guy for the clubhouse....he jokes around, and is never mean(except to the opposition), etc....and maybe Gordon as well. Gordon makes diddly-squat money wise, so he could be released if he were causing trouble. As clujer said....this team could lead the majors in runs....we will have one of the best 1-2 punches in the majors(and possibly one of the best 1-2-3 punches as well), and we have a bullpen that could be possibly the best in the league. There is a better chance of it working out that way than there is not working out that way. There would have to be injuries before it didn't work out that way....because that many guys can't underachieve that badly.
  11. Hmmm. So quick to say we're trading C-Lee at the trading deadline, yet the season hasn't started yet. Do we trade him if he's hitting .300 with 17 HR and 60 RBI at the deadline? I'd have to say no -- unless we were offered a decent starter, and not some prospect (what would be use in that?). I thought of another reason why Borchard should NOT start the season with the Sox. The first couple of months are going to be cold in Chicago, right? Thus, HR's are going to be harder to come by than they will be in the summer months. We should go with Rowand - a better OBP guy - and then if Borchard is doing good in AAA, consider bringing him up when the weather gets hot and the ball starts to carry. Until then, it's Aaron's job to lose. I'd rather see an OF of a productive Lee in left, a confident Borchard in center, and an MVP-contender Ordonez in right. That, IMO, beats your proposed OF of either Borchard/Daubach in left, Rowand in center, and Magglio in right. But, time will tell. To open up a spot for Borchard, we are going to have to trade someone....we can't trade Konerko....he's not cheap enough and he actually plays good defense(however, outside of Lee, he is the most logical to trade...we have Daubach who is LH and can play decent defense at 1B as well). Trading Daubach would be pointless....that'd be trading our lefty off the bench so we can make room for a lefty off the bench....sorry, that doesn't work. We can't trade Maggs...nuff said. And we can't trade Thomas either....he is making more than Carlos and has a contract that is weirder than hell....plus he is a DH and is 35....you'd be lucky to get a good pitching prospect for Frank even if he was putting up a .350 25 90 line at the deadline....you'd get less for him than you would from a Carlos Lee who has been on the DL and is hitting .250 10 35....Carlos has upside that Frank does not have anymore. Lee is the logical guy to trade....even if he is one of KW's boys. Also....doesn't Thomas have a no-trade clause...a 10-5 clause? 10 years in the majors, 5 with 1 team....I'm pretty sure that still holds true, even after his free agent market visit. He can turn down any trade to any team....and if he was having a good year and the Sox were in a close race...he would nix the deal. Tell me....if you are KW, and Borchard is basically needed for the team to compete in the postseason....who do you trade? I trade Lee....but that's just MHO.
  12. We really don't need another guy who can play 1b. We've already got Thomas and Konerko, which would be enough, but we've also got Brian Daubach who we'll want to work into the lineup as much as possible since he's a left-handed power threat. I think that we should go with Olivo and Sandy. Olivo won't ride the pine most of the time, because Sandy can't normally catch consecutive games. Olivo will get plenty of playing time (probably 80-100 games) for a rookie. Plus, at least he's good defensively. The past couple of years, we've gone with Mark Johnson (pretty bad all-around) and Josh Paul (pretty bad all-around), so Miguel should be an improvement. i agree that olivo should be on the roster..but ONLY if he is going to catch 5 games or so a week minimum...if sandy is going to be the starter which it looks like manuel is leaning towards then olivo should go to AAA..kind of like with bortchard..id think borchard should be our CF..but if he isnt then he has to go to AAA to play everyday... both these guys need to play everyday Baggs...if Olivo makes the roster out of ST(which I believe he will) and Manuel still says that Alomar will be the starter...I will believe every word he says. Manuel isn't stating the timeframe that Sandy will be starting....and I believe it will be April...or at the latest, he will be backup by June. Miguel will be eased into his starting role, and hopefully we can get a big enough lead that by June, we are like 5 or 6 games up and we can keep that same type of lead for the rest of the year.
  13. If we go with 3 catchers....I'd look for Burke to make the team....not Paul....unless Paul can play adequate CF as well. I think both Miguel and Sandy make the team out of ST....and then Manuel is faced with a tough decision on the #5 bench spot....does he go with Paul, Rios, Burke, or who? I also don't believe Harris is a lock anymore, like he once was thought to be(by me)....with Miles playing his ass off, he may get a spot and beat out Harris, and then he is our backup OFer, or something like that, or Rios is our backup CFer, or something along those lines. The rules say you can only have 25-men on your roster from April to August....and this team needs 26. Our bench is probably going to look something like Graffy, Alomar/Olivo, Daubach, (the only three locks, IMO), Miles, Rios....with Miles being the util IF/bat off the bench(like Graffy) who also pinch runs, and Rios is our backup CFer, unless there is an emergency, in which Miles or Graffy would go in....with Burke getting sent to the minors and Paul having to clear waivers and then sent to the minors....I hope that he gets picked up, or atleast attempted to be picked up, and then we pull him back and trade him....something like that. I don't want to see him on the big league roster unless he can also play atleast all 3 OF positions and 2B-SS adequately....otherwise, get him the hell out of here.
  14. As soon as we trade Carlos at the deadline....we'll see Joey B. Lee opens up a spot on the White Sox for Borchard to come up and for Daubach/Borchard to start in LF....Lee will provide some pop for a team that can spend a little money and needs a DH/LF type...maybe a team building for the future or something like that. We then get some decent minor leaguers in the deal(maybe a catcher type?). Daubach/Borchard then break up the righties....and we can trade for a cheaper RH power hitter at the deadline who can come off the bench and pinch hit in a snap and play a few positions. We'd be getting better, yet cutting payroll at the same time.
  15. which side of this trade are you on???...if youre trying to trade for rolen i think everyone is telling you go a different route..youre killing yourself..if youre the one trading rolen well..good job i guess..too good a job Lol im the one trying to TRADE rolen and marte for berkman, wagner. And wsc425 agreed to that deal. And I had that ripoff right in my hands, before you guys had to start that revolt. Thanks alot The point was that deal was unfair...and that you are taking advantage of someone who doesn't know any better(at this point). That'd be like having sex with a girl that is drunk as hell and doesn't know any better, just to get some. WSC is a rookie, and at this point, he hasn't caught on. I was the same last year too. He'll get it eventually. You may get away with some unfair trades....but when it is that damn lob-sided, you won't.
  16. Like Dan Wright wright wins 14 games his first full season as a starter and we are gonna move him to the pen???..please..neither should go to the pen but garland should go before wright Baggs....I knew you'd have something to say I was talking more like in the future....say, maybe a couple years(3 or 4)....I'm not talking about moving Danny to the pen this year. Jas was talking about the jewster complimenting Almonte as a hard throwing righty and a soft-tossing right, respectfully. He then mentioned that we could turn a hard throwing starter and make him a reliever...and Dan Wright came up. You don't seriously think that Almonte is going to make the team out of spring, do you? I personally don't....not with White around. If the Jays don't keep Majewski on their 25-man all year long....we get him back. They do a better job than some at doing that(they also got Corey Thurman from the Royals last year in Rule 5....and now he is going to be a member of the Blue Jays from now on), but he may not be. It's kind of funny how the Rule 5 works and how it's played out....last year, KC picked up Miguel Ascencio in the draft from Philly(the guy that threw 16 straight balls against us), but he turned out to be a decent pickup...but they lost Corey Thurman to the Jays. The Jays the year before had lost Jay Gibbons in the draft to the Orioles. Anyways....I'm not talking about Wright getting demoted this year....not at all. He'll start this year, and if he doesn't, JM better have a hell of an excuse. Wright could win 15 games this year....coming out of the #4 spot, that's nice.
  17. Update Hmm....I wonder if Mesa is lying. What a dumbass
  18. Right! But, I thought it might've been nice for him to work a little on pitching to righties so he can in a pinch be used against them! I don't know if he can exactly work on how he pitches against righties. The fastest he'll ever throw it is 82 or 83(and that's when he is throwing his hardest) or so I assume. It's his funky ass delivery that f***s up a lot of lefties, and where it hits the plate against them. A guy like that will never have good control....and lefties that can get out righties either have real good stuff or real good control(or a mix of the two). That's why Damaso can get righties out, and Wunsch can't....Wunsch doesn't have good stuff or control, and Damaso does.
  19. We have Buehrle accepted it, KW and Hahn accepted it, but JR did not. :fyou JR

    Bullpen

Arizona is a place with thin air....so is Colorado. White had an ERA of over 6.00 in Colorado. His struggles in Arizona do not surprise me. Last year, in St. Louis, White had an ERA of under 1.00(like 0.82).....I don't expect him to put up a 0.82 ERA, but I do think he'll be able to put up a mid 3.00s or lower ERA.
  21. Guys...make the connection. Brian McRae played for the sCrUBS.....and you wonder why he is such a s***ty play-by-play. Anyone that played for the Cubs that didn't play for the White Sox will be a s***ty play-by-play guy(which means that DJ is OK).
  22. Apparently Rooney and Farmer were saying he was hitting pitches on the inside corner very well. The last time he hit pitches on the inside corner well was 2000.
  23. I just can't put "Harris" and "gun" into the same complete thought for some odd reason.
  24. If we could get lucky enough to do this(I'm not sure we will)....we might be able to have a rotation of Colon, Buehrle, Garland, Rauch and Honel sometime in the future....that'd be in about 3 years....and Rauch may be the #3 by then....but that rotation is f***in sweet....if we could get Colon locked up for atleast 3 years....that could be the rotation going into 2006.
