    10 days!

Heh...I will reserve my comments this time. No need to spark another debate (I've done that enough in my first few weeks here ) I didn't mean you in particular, I meant people in general that do that, and where in the hell are the other people on this board thathave tat's I can't be the only one! I don't have one....but cwsox has atleast 2....I think. He's a funny guy....he is a big fan of Eminem, has tatoos...and is a grandfather as well. Why aren't there more Grandpa's like him in the world? LOL
  2. First of all....this should be in the fantasy forum. Second....don't do the deal. Sheffield is good for 30-40 homers a year, and Soriano is good for atleast 25-30...and Soriano will steal 40 bases too, and both should hit about .300. Maggs might hit 40 homers.....but Castillo won't hit 5 homers, let alone about 15 to tie them(and that is at the least)...and even though Maggs might drive in 140 runs....Sheffield will drive in 120, and Soriano 110....Castillo won't drive in 90 runs to tie them. You'd get the edge in steals and maybe average....but nothing else. Do not accept the deal.
  3. I disagree defensively when talking about Harris. I've always thought that he is a very good defensive second-baseman....but not a good defensive CFer. He could be a hitter like Luis Castillo in Florida....a slap hitter who will get more infield singles than doubles, triples and homers combined. He never will have a good OBP....unless he hits well. If he reaches his potential....he could be a .320 hitter with a .360 OBP and 40-50 steals, while playing good defense at 2B. He's a long ways away from that though. I just think we have rushed him....you can't really rush power hitters...but you can rush leadoff-types. Last year, the Cubs brought Hill up too early...and he hit below .200....we brought Harris up...and he hit terrible. Miles is just ready right now....and if Rios couldn't play CF....we could use a few different guys in CF, if it were an emergency(Maggs, Miles, Jose) and possibly even more(and that would only last 1 game....then Borchard would probably be brought up....that is, if Rios couldn't play CF). Anyways....if we could get something decent for Harris....sure, why wouldn't we trade him? We got Yan in the minors who's just as good and we have Hummel, Jimenez and Miles who could all play 2B just as well(and eventually Yan). I don't want to trade him for a scrub though.....there would be no point to that.
  4. I think Miles beats out Harris if Rowand is feeling alright. Jas....Rios can play CF fine....and Harris is terrible in CF. Just because he can play it doesn't mean he is decent.....he sucks. Hell....Miles could play friggin CF if we needed him to.
  5. Yes, Rauch WILL start.....for the Charlotte Knights. As Wayne said....Rauch will start in AAA. Not only is it that the Sox have said that Rauch was demoted to AAA(along with Heredia), but that this is the smart thing to do. He would have been the #5 pitcher out of ST and would not have gotten consistent pitching time at the majors. We did that last year and he had an ERA of about 9.00. Wright will start...regardless of how tall Rauch is.
  6. Clujer....you said Miles probably won't make the roster without someone getting injured. Harris pulled his hammy the other day. Is that enough of an injury for you? Also....we probably will go with an Alomar-Olivo duo behind the plate....Paul is killing himself in ST.
  7. We're going with 11 pitchers, not 12. Olivo, Konerko, Jimenez, Valentin, Crede, Lee, Rowand, Ordonez, Thomas, Graffy, Alomar, Daubach, Rios, and either Miles or Burke Buehrle, Colon, Garland, Loaiza, Wright, White, Marte, Glover, Wunsch, Gordon, Koch.
  8. I heard that the only negative about GameCubes are that the discs are really small. I assume that'd be for copyright laws, so that way you can't burn games. It does make sense though. Saves me $50 bucks or so....and possibly more in the future.
  9. What is the motivation behind Selig being a large helping hand? He is very good friends with JR....and you do nice stuff like that for your friends. Is that reason enough?
  10. I think I'm gonna get a GameCube eventually(though I may regret trying to save a few bucks...because that's the reason behind going to get a GameCube)....and WSB 2k3 will probably be the first game I get. I'll eventually add Super Smash Bros, Mario, Metroid, Zelda....and those games. I love those games....they are classic. Probably a few sports games in between....and hopefully, Sin City comes out on GameCube too....but I doubt it.
  11. Here's just a thought to ponder here for a minute. Do you suppose it was just the White Sox involved in getting Colon, or do you think that maybe someone higher(cough cough, Bud Selig) had a helping hand in getting Colon to Chicago in the first place? Maybe it wasn't KW that said "Hey Jerry....would you want to acquire Bartolo Colon?" but rather Selig saying the same thing....could it be? And then, in the reports, the White Sox and Selig agreed to give the credit of the deal to KW, because he was the mastermind of the deal....meaning, Jerry basically said "Put together a trade for Colon", KW did(in KW fashion....trading a starter for a starter, and making it a 3-for-1 deal with 1 minor leaguer coming to us)....and KW was nervous and up all night long because he wasn't sure it was going to get done....but JR and Selig were sleeping at the time because they had just spent $100 on a nice bottle of champagne and celebrated in true fashion(finishing the bottle, of course). Maybe George had a little glass of it too....keeping Colon out of Boston, and having a hand in doing so. Do you suppose that if we did not have an owner who was such good friends with the commish, that we would have gotten Colon? Think about it....we never heard about the full extents of the Colon-to-Boston rumors....maybe Minaya was given orders by Selig to keep upping the price from Boston....asking for Hillenbrand initially, and then Fossum....maybe next, he would have asked for Hanley Ramirez and more and more and more.....but Fossum was the last step. And who would the people have been from the Mets that they would have received for Colon.....Aaron Heilman, Jose Reyes and ????.....they would have asked for quite a bit. Instead, we get a reduced rate....Biddle goes over....who was at one time, injured goods....Jeff Liefer, who was a 5th OFer for us and a backup 1Bman....and then it cost us Antonio Osuna, who was injured goods at one time, and Delvis Lantigua, who never really ever had a chance in our organization for El Duque(who then went to Montreal). You don't suppose this was a scenario of "I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine", do you? I personally believe that's the case....just not sure what JR has done/will do in return. I am sure it is not giving Milwaukee Royce Clayton and Todd Ritchie! I think that this screams of tampering, or whatever it would be....us getting the inside track because of someone close to the organization. I'm surprised no one else in the big-time has realized it yet.
  12. I'm just wondering. What exactly is the purpose of this war? I'm not against it....but I'm not that big on politics either(but it's fun to read about). Is it to stop Saddam, or to get an advantage on the world's oil or to stop Iraq in all or what?
  13. I don't think they're using "crash" in relation to his dirtbike accident as much as in relation to his wreckless abandon on the field. I think a more appropriate name for the jersey would have been his nickname ("Robocop", I think it is). Although, that might get some people mad due to copyright reasons. Yeah I know....but it is also in relation to his accident. Only the SnR boys were calling him 'Crash' last year
  14. You know....if this kid makes the big leagues, the Sox will have to start selling tofu....and then when Yofu comes in....it will get people confused. Man....Asian people, when they just come over from Asia....are a mess when they get to America. English is such a confusing language in its own, and then if they move to a big city, probably have to learn Spanish too. They are fun to talk to though. Hey....I wanna make my own language too. That sounds fun
  15. As I recall, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the deal was pretty much done until Anaheim backed out at the last second. No? Exactly...and that's the weird thing. KW will be given credit for not trading one of the best young pitchers in today's game to the Angels for Darin Erstad....yet, it was actually the Angels who pulled out. It will either basically be KW getting a ton of credit, or the Angels who look like retards....though Erstad was key in them winning the Series. Either scenario....the Sox look good because of the deal. And Garland wouldn't have looked good in Anaheim red
  16. You know it's funny.....Rowand nearly ruined his baseball career in crashing down from 20 feet up....and he ripped up his whole left shoulder....and here we are, making jokes about it and smiling. We are joking about how a guy nearly ruined his career.....that is weird as hell. Kind of weird, like a cow eating beef(on Southpark it happened)....or something like that. Funny, yet sickening. That's still a funny pic though....I do like it.
  17. See if a team wants one of your top starters for a top closer...whether it be Buehrle, Hudson or Maddux. And don't get ripped off either.....make sure the closer is very, very good....probably like John Smoltz. He's about the only guy that is worth a top starter....being on a good team and being a good pitcher. If necessary....package up like Al Leiter as well and get another closer too.
  18. ????? World Series Baseball 2K3 is a video game for all 3 consoles...and Rex Hudler is one of the commentators. So he is having some fun with it....and asking what nice things you have to say about the Sox in the game. You did, didn't you?
  19. First of all, I just found out his agent is BorA$$ Second, I agree with ya 100% we arnt willing to give Mark B more then 11.5 gaurenteed... wut makes anyone think we are going to disj out 75mill plus for tejada... lets work about keeping maggs past next year... There's a big difference between MB(a pitcher) and Miggy T(a hitter). JR's given some nice, fat contracts to hitters....and given s*** to pitchers. How's that for a reason he would give money to Tejada and not to Buehrle?
  20. That will go down as probably the greatest move a manger didn't make....and KW isn't the one that pulled the plug on the deal either(this is, assuming Garland does pan out) Here we are, complimenting KW on how well he did this past offseason, and how s***ty he did in the 2001-02 offseason. 10 years from now....the Garland-for-Erstad deal that wasn't will make the 2001-02 offseason look great, when in reality, it was probably one of the worst offseasons in recent history(trading wise)
  21. After what Koch did last season in Oakland, and Gordon starts to mouth off like that, there will be some tension. Gordon was signed as a set-up man/reliever and that's where he will stay. I don't think he has a reason to talk about wanting to be the closer when Koch is around, because it ain't going to happen. marte would get it before gordon Which, in this case, isn't a good thing...that would make Flash b**** even more.
  22. Thanks Jas Ouch....sucks for the Flubbie Fannie....but now people will probably object like it's their job now(with like 5 of them being Cubs fans)
  23. I believe Miles had an error or 2 today. With such a longshot of making the team Miles has to do everything right and especially play solid D. He's played solid D all spring....and he's fighting for the 5th bench spot. He's basically battling against, IMO, just 2 guys, being Burke and Paul....and Paul has basically killed himself.
  24. Yes, Miles is a switch-hitter. Do you consider Harris a lock to make the team? Because I think you have to consider him a contender for that 5th bench spot if you already aren't doing so. He pulled his hammy, and I wouldn't rush him back....he's not exactly going to start anyways. I'd let his hammy get back to 100% before he goes and plays again....because if not, they can hurt you badly. If we want to let him get healthy(which would be the very wise thing to do)....he should sit atleast 2 weeks....and possibly 3 or even 4. Doesn't mean he can't like jog and do sprints after like 2 weeks....once its feeling better. But there is a lot more in baseball than just jogging and sprinting. Besides....he's not even playing that well....otherwise....he'd be fighting for a spot. I do like what I've seen from him defensively from 2B.
  25. Guys like Tony Graffinino and Miguel Cairo and players like that don't get enough credit....they go to the field everyday not knowing if they'll even play, and if they play, they don't have a damn clue where they will play. And they still play good defense and put up good numbers. Also....setup men....guys like Octavio Dotel and Marte and JC Romero and Felix Rodriguez....guys that get the ball to the closer. Otherwise....Brian Giles is very underrated in the NL....and Maggs in the AL. Also....Mike Sweeney is underrated as well. He is a stud and can put up a good average.
