I hope that one plays out. I got a feeling that when I'm working on my 401 K plan....Josh Paul will still be on the roster.

I thought I knew what I wanted the Sox to do, but now I'm not certain. Stewart is pitching VERY well right now, and Danny is not ready. He might be throwing well for 2 innings, but there's a HUGE difference between throwing 2 innings and 30 pitches and throwing 5 innings and 75 pitches. I've changed my mind -- I want the Sox to go with Stewart to open the season, and let Danny work for 3 or 4 starts in AAA so he can stretch himself out and be CERTAIN that his elbow is ready for major league hitting. But, we'll see what happens. That sounds like the best plan to me. And then, what some may not realize, is that we then have a 3rd lefty out of the pen for most of the month.

What was that bit that Rosenthal said in one of his inside dishes that Rios was a clubhouse problem at times? Rios sounds like the exact guy we need in this case.....a guy that can hit for power, has decent speed, can play all 3 OF positions, and accepts his role as a role-player. I don't see any problem at all with him, atleast from this article.

Yes. Stupid isn't it? Something tells me you didn't have to ask that. When is management going to realize that Josh Paul is nothing better than a .250 hitting, backup catcher with bad defense and a bad arm who has no power whatsoever? His only upside is his speed....and Olivo is pretty damn fast for a catcher.

I don't want to get rid of Rauch. He obviously has a lot of upside....you don't get minor league player of the year if you are a bum. However, he is getting a little older....and more job security could do him well, and consistent pitching time as well. He'd have to either make the team as the #4 starter out of ST or we would have to have a schedule favoring us. At this point....I'm not sure either of those will happen within the next couple years.

Jas....and to everyone else....I do understand that the Twins are the favorites, and I have no problem admitting that(OK, it's hard to say it....but it is true). However....just because they are favored to win, does that mean I have to follow suit and say they are going to win the division? I truly do believe that the Colon deal in its own pushed us over the top....it gave us the 1-2 punch that we really lacked all of last year. When you replace a Toad Ritchie with a Bartolo Colon....you're gonna get a huge difference, and I think that when someone took out Ritchie's decisions, and added in Colon's....we would have won 96 games or so. Let's not forget that we also had the same Pythagorean W-L as the Twins did last year....which for those of you who don't know, is a stat that was developed by Bill James....and it basically says how many games a team should have won....and if you have more wins....you got lucky....and if you have less....you didn't get lucky. And then when you consider that we added a ton to our offense last season from August 1 and on....and we strengthened our bullpen to make it one of the elite in the league....I feel our chances are really good as it is. IMO, we could be put in the AL West....and come out 90 game winners. That may not happen....but I feel that it could. I also feel that management is not its greatest....whether it be on the field(mainly Manuel...however, we have won with Manuel as head honcho) or in the front office(KW)....but regardless....we could have an idiot for a manager....and a 4-year old for a GM....and this team would still win, based on talent alone. If we had Lou Piniella as manager....and Billy Beane as GM....we could win a lot of games. A lot more than many would think. Point blank....can I accept the fact that the Twins are the favorites? Yeah. Can I accept it when people pick them to win the division? Yeah....kind of. Can I accept the fact that people pick the Twins and don't put any logical thought into whatsoever, or they fill their argument with half-truths and don't mention other key things? No....not at all. This is why I do not like Rosenthal's reasoning....and any idiot could realize that Pearlman is a douchebag. When I go to all my trouble defending my reasoning of why I think the Sox are going to win the division....and then I see these f***heads just say "those who pick the White Sox are morons" or they fill their argument with half-truths....I get pissed off.

Hey, I got a hell of an idea. When the Sox win the division....how about we flood Rosenthal's inbox with "I told you so" emails? Let him know that he pissed off White Sox nation real good in the offseason and during ST....and that he should never do it again.

I was gonna use that....but decided to give the league one last look. Then I saw Koch This's name....Koch Suckers. That sounded perfect....a nice, funny name that ties in with the White Sox in a league of people other than Sox fans...I don't know if any of them are Sox fans.

And I need help with something. I'm not that creative or imaginative of a guy....so I need help with a team name. Anyone wanna take a shot at a good one? I should point out that I inherited a team from an owner that quit. If I wanna win....I gotta lotta work ahead of me. Gonna try to get Garland in a trade though. Maybe someone else too....I don't know.

He's pitched incredibly well....that's why he's going to get a starting spot. If we can get 10-15 wins out of Loaiza....assuming he is the #4 all year....that would be incredible. Getting that many wins out of your #4 pitcher is very good.

Man Boggs was a helluva player....the worst he ever hit was .260....and aside from that year...the worst he ever hit was .280. And he only hit below .300 3 times in 18 seasons. What hat will he wear into the HoF? I believe they took that choice away from the players because of Boggs(I suppose he was going to go in with a DRays hat in because that's where he got his 3000th hit....I think that's what I heard). He had his best years in Boston.....he won a series with the Yanks....and he got his 3000th hit with the DRays.

And if we don't get at least to the playoffs.. JM will be looking for a new job. If we get off to a slow start....not even as bad as how we started in 2001....Manuel will be looking for a new job. If we start out 15-25 or so....Manuel should be given the axe.

I sure hope the Sox are playing beyond 9/28. Otherwise, we all looked forward to this season for nothing. And last season, he had the same kind of situation, and he won 19 games, so I'm not worried about him either. We will be playing beyond 9/28...I'm not worried about that.

I agree with you 100% He's got a calmness about him. It's good to see it. Garland is on FIRE! No concerns about him, and not even any about Colon. I will admit though.. I am a bit concerned about Mark. I hope the reporters just keep their mouths shut about his contract status. From 3/31 to 9/28 it should be all baseball. If Thomas has a year that resembles anything close to his 2000 season....we could be in for a helluva ride. We could win 110 games...if everything goes right of course. The only concern I have at all for this team is Jimenez....and I'm just wondering if he'll be able to handle the leadoff spot for a whole year. If not...we have replacements...Miles and Harris for starters. I'm not worried about Buehrle....he plays the game for the love of it....and he enjoys it as much as possible, as you can tell by the interview he had. He just enjoys this positive exposure and he loves the game....he would play this game for free if it came to that. I'm sure he's thrilled to death that he's getting paid about $450,000....and if we could reward him with a 4-year deal worth about $12 mill....that'd be great. Nothing too big....yet, enough to get MB really happy.

I normally don't do this, and I shouldn't do this....but a part of me wishes that Josh Paul would get injured. What is really going to suck is if Sandy stays relatively healthy all year.....and Josh Paul gets like 1 game every 2 weeks. We may as well trade him to a team with no catching for an A-level prospect. At this point....I'd take about anything. Is anyone else worried about the fact that we only have 1 player on the bench who can play MI? If Josh Paul can't play 2B and/or SS...he'll be pissin me off. He better learn damn quick if he doesn't know.

Steff....the mood WILL stay with Frank. He wants to return to star status...and the last time he was this determined, he put up the best full-season of his career. Also....I'm excited the most about Garland....his breaking pitches are killer. If he gets going....he could dominate the AL. We could have the strongest 1-2-3 punch in the majors, though not necessarily the best....Colon could win 20+....Buehrle could win 20+....and if Garland pitches very well....he could win 18-20. I am very excited as well.

You know what will be really weird? If we win the division or go onto the ALCS/World Series....Manuel WILL be MotY....someone on the Sox should get a major award(MVP, Cy Young.....Thomas should be Comeback Player of the Year.....and maybe RoY)....and (gulp)....KW will get GM of the Year. Scary....but probably true.
