You know wut wsf..we've been disagreeing alot lately :fyou I'd say "Yeah, we are", but then we'd be agreeing! It's a good question to have....and I'm sure JM will tinker out a way to get it right.

It was women's college basketball....but it's still pretty neat all the same. SDSU won the D2 National Championship. I was in Rapid City yesterday, and I had no internet....otherwise, I would have posted it then. Haha.....must suck to be a Kentuckian....yesterday, they lost 3 huge games....I know Northeastern state beat a Kentucky men's team in D2.....SDSU beat Nothern Kentucky....and then Kentucky lost to Marquette.

It's just like Kurt Warner and what's his face from last year....I can't even remember. Martz said that just because Warner got hurt didn't mean that he was going to lose his job. I agree. If Wright loses his job, for instance, pitching absolutely god-awful for two months or so....than it is considerable. Otherwise....no. Wright gets his spot back. Everyone gets hurt....and they shouldn't lose their job because of a minor setback.

I've always liked UConn....and was kind of disappointed to see them go. Atleast some people still have a shot at doing something in their brackets. Mine are real f***ed up right now. I had Xavier and Illinois going to the Final Four...and both lost in the second round. This is, by far, the worst I have ever done.

It's not hard to realize why SI dumped his ass then, if what you said was true. BTW....for those who didn't catch on....this was Pearlman's last article like this.

If I'm not mistaking, the 6 managers ranked below JM are all making their managerial debuts in 2003. That's pretty bad. Jerry Manuel is an awful manager. He's managed a 90+ win team. How many of the above that I mentioned above have done this same feat? The only one that has probably done it is Torborg. And Torborg is worse....atleast Manuel doesn't push his pitchers the way Torborg has done. As I said....he's not a great manager...hell, he's not even a good manager...but he is much better than 24th out of 30. CBS has their heads up their asses.

If I'm not mistaking, the 6 managers ranked below JM are all making their managerial debuts in 2003. That's pretty bad. Ned Yost, Ed Wedge, Bob Melvin, Ken Macha, and Alan Trammel. That goes from 26-30....and I'll include Carlos Tosca/Tony Pena in there. What they're telling me is that Tosca or Pena is better than Manuel? They're telling me Bowa is better than Manuel? Jeff Torborg? Clint Hurdle? Bruce Bochy? Lloyd McClendon? Some you could make a case for....but for cryin' out loud....that's bulls***. Those guy's career winning % as manager combined is like .450 at best....and probably lower. Manuel isn't the greatest manager in the world....but he's a s*** load better than 24 out of 30.

NL East - Phillies NL Central - Astros NL West - DBacks NL Wildcard - Giants AL East - Red Sox AL Central - White Sox AL West - Athletics AL Wildcard - Twinkies Sox will win 102 games World Series...I have no clue. I guess I'll say the Sox. It's fate. They had a hand in getting both the Angels and Giants in last year....so they are due. Then again....they've been due for over 35 years.
-
Guys....I guess we're going to have to win about 120 games(during the season) for this to even have a shot at coming through. If we then won the series....I think we'd be safe. Then again....knowing the Cubs....they'd probably be dumasses and lose about 120 games.
-
DUH! These guys are gonna seal the Al Central 4 us. Of course, along with Frank, Maggs, Paulie, Buehrle, and others. I just realized the Sox are packed with great players. Go Sox! Hold on. You JUST realized that?
-
I agree on all counts....except JM as 24th out of 30. He's higher than that....he has won in the past. I see him atleast in the top 2/3rds....nothing big....but he's better than 24th.

Apparently, Angels, A's, and Yankees fans.

I kind of like the Angels actually. Their starting rotation is the only thing that could change my mind. KRod is the real deal, Percival is a helluva pitcher, Weber and Donnelly and solid pitchers, and Schow is a pretty good lefty bullpen pitcher(though I'm not sure he's going to be in the bullpen again this year). Their offense hasn't changed at all, and they have a helluva manager in Scoscia. They probably won't win 100 games again....but 85-90 shouldn't be a problem....and I don't see the Mariners really making a lot of noise either.

Thanks for missing the point...It's not the question of "panning out"; it's a question of guys' arms and/or mechanics getting f***ed up at the incredible rate under Nardi and Co.' watch. Kip Wells and Burhle have been exceptions, but the former hated Nardi and struggled with trhe Sox (fastball at 92 versus 93-96 with Pirates among other things), and the latter...well, re-read my edited post. We had best arms in the majors 2-3 years ago. Now I have to watch Cubs trot out Woods, Clement, Zambrano, Prior and Cruz, knowing that Rauch, Beurhle, Wells, Malone and Barcelo would have been just as good if not better had Nardi not...you get the idea... I've been very optimistic about this team since 2000 and tihnk we will win 99 games in 2003, but this s***ty trend has GOT to stop. Lou Piniella didn't call him the worst pitching coach ever for nothing.
-
We haven't won on our west coast trips since the early 90's, I would venture to guess. I didn't even consider any of that stuff when I said that. I was strictly basing that statement on the talent of our team.

Killa....my question will be followed after the hypothetical situation. Say Colon and Buehrle are ripping the league apart...like we expect them to. However....Jon Garland is also doing the same thing....he has, say, a 13-6 record at the deadline with a 3.74 ERA....however....he struggled getting out of the gate in April....and has had an ERA of under 3.20 since May....and he's won 11 games since May. With that 1-2-3 punch of Colon, Buehrle, and Garland, would you still go out and pick up another game-breaker type....or do you save the farm and just leave the roster as is? I know what I'd do....and it would involve making a trade....I just am not sure it would involve getting a pitcher at all. The potential of this team is limitless....because in my mind....this is a team that could very well win 110 games.
-
Why would we need 12 pitchers? Our rotation is good....our bullpen is good.....I see no reason. And an extra guy on the bench makes us a stronger offensive team, as long as that extra guy on the bench's name isn't Josh Paul.

Everybody makes mistakes. This isn't WSI you know Bulls*** Bighurt.... :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou YOU SUCK ASS!

They are make Dusty Baker out to be the god of baseball coaches....making him seem like he is the best manager in the league. How many people remember back in October when Russ Ortiz had a 5-1 lead (or was it a 5-0 lead?) in the 7th inning....he had fewer than 100 pitches.....yet, Dusty still took him out because he had allowed two runners on base. Having Barry Bonds in the lineup is what got the Giants to the World Series....and having the pitchers step up and pitch decently....and having the bullpen come through and pitch lights out....not Dusty's great managing. When a player hits the most homers in postseason history, while hitting 1 like very 3 ABs or so it seemed....you're gonna do some things, even if your pitching is bad and your manager is an idiot. He's a decent manager....but I'm not even sure he's the best manager in Chicago. JM may not be that great of a manager.....but he's not much worse than Baker....MHO anyways

I got 20 bucks on them winning the division...but that's it for now.

How about the GM who traded 3 young arms for one Todd Ritchie? I second that

SN Report: Wright in Question, Stewart Gets Nod
witesoxfan replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think that will work out to our advantage. Teams will now have to see one of Buehrle and Colon in a series. Works out in the end. -
And Tampa has a helluva manager too. This would be a dogfight....but I'd have to say Tampa Bay.
