Tim Tebow to appear in anti-abortion Super Bowl ad
witesoxfan replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
I understand they wanted to get their message and their thoughts out to the public, and I can appreciate that, but that looked like a monstrous waste of money to me. They would have been better off spending $2 million to get some type of ad played over the entirety of the year, rather than during one 30 second interval during the Super Bowl when someone could have glanced away or gotten food or gone to the bathroom or whatever and missed it. Hell, I didn't realize it was Mama Tebow until it dawned on me that it was a hot milf that obviously wasn't an actor (and then she got f***ing speared). The ad just didn't do a whole hell of a lot for me at all. Maybe that was the plan, but for the Super Bowl, that seems like a pretty damn weak plan. -
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 11:33 PM) I've never seen Titanic. Does that count? The only cool thing you missed was a little bit of bush and some boobs.

do you know anybody that would have their band consist of entirely Muppets? Only Sir Elton. Cuz Sir Elton f***ing tore s*** up, and he was the only one who had the balls to let Muppets be his backup.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 12:08 AM) I say Pink Floyd for Super Bowl 45! Who's with me? Well, I know it would be just Gilmour (whom I share a b'day with, awesome) and Mason, but that's good enough for me. Waters is a tool. So long as weed is legalized and the half time show becomes two and a half hours long, I agree. Otherwise, I look towards someone like Pearl Jam to play it (and that's not just because I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan, that just seems like a logical developmental step). QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 02:15 AM) This guy is pretty rough on Manning. www.cbssports.com ZOMG, MANNING MADE A POOR PASS. Manning is still easily the greatest QB of this generation, and, unless you want to argue Elway, Young, or Favre, one of the top 2 QBs of all-time (with Marino being the other...BUT HE NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL SO HE MUST f***ING SUCK god I hate that f***ing argument)

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) I know what you're saying, but if I were an opposing GM, and I had my choice between the two, I would take Mitchell - unless of course I needed to fill a position immediately and I thought Jordan could do so. I think it's entirely possible that Hoyer and company could prefer Mitchell to Danks. I just don't think they could have any type of read on him to determine that he could be anything more than a throw-in to a trade, especially for a player like Gonzalez. The fact of the matter is, Mitchell's value is far greater to the White Sox right now than it is to the Padres or the other 28 teams. Wait a year, and that may change, just as it did with Poreda and Carter, and just as it may with Hudson and Flowers and Danks and whoever else. I think the only player that has absolutely no chance at being moved by the White Sox because of the above circumstances ("prospect" with more value to the Sox than others) is Gordon Beckham, and that is a universally agreed upon point.

You ever see/hear Elton John sing a song, and then proceed to suck? Something I haven't witnessed.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) oh and also....big props to CBS...seriously...they really could have just rammed horrendous attempts at tear jerky type Katrina stories down our throats all game, and could have given us millions of shots of Kim Kardashian, Kendra, Eli and Archie, and they actually kept it extremely bearable and limited CBS has always been the absolute best station when it comes to sports. Not only is the quality of their broadcast far superior to that of FOX, but their ability to cover the game itself and stick with that alone really sets them apart. I love watching sports on CBS.

I'm pretty sure all the Doritos commercials were fan-submitted, and Doritos did absolutely no thinking other than deciding which commercials were good.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) well said. however, i highly doubt- jordan danks would be the center piece to an A-Gon deal anyway. Mitchell has a much higher ceiling than D2 and you would have to assume- he would have to be included in a mega package headed to San Diego. Jared Mitchell has played 34 games in low-A ball. Sure, his ceiling is higher, but I imagine Joe Borchard's ceiling is higher still too. You need something to base value off of, and 34 games is nothing that you can do much of anything with. Jordan Danks has played a half season at AA - and did very poorly, but had injury issues - and played very well in the AFL. If you are talking strictly value, Jordan Danks' value is higher than Jared Mitchell's is right now simply because there's a legitimate scouting report to deal with and both are legitimate prospects.

I think that everyone who has posted in this thread should be in a video game.

I missed it when Pete Townshend showed his titties tonight

Dallas Clark is so f***ing good at catching footballs

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) I really don't think the Saints have a shot. I think New Orleans leads after the first half, and the Colts win by 2 scores. Similar to the Jets game last week. Yeah, couldn't have been more wrong if I tried.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) I'm just talking strictly about his value as a player. I can absolutely agree with this though. He's basically a coach that wears a helmet and pads and gets to decide where the football goes.

I'm apparently going to have to do some, ahem, campaigning within the next couple weeks. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) I don't mean if they never drafted Manning, I mean, say he has a severe leg injury in the preseason at the beginning of this year. You also have to think they'd sign or trade for a stopgap QB. I highly doubt they'd go with Curtis Painter for an entire season.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Sox like Hudson the most and view him as a top of the rotation starter. How high are they on Flowers?

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) It was not that long ago that these were two of the s***tier franchises in all of sports. Anyone that thinks QB is not the most important position in sports is wrong. agree. There are many other important positions, but having a great QB alone can get some teams into the playoffs. You really can't say having a great "whatever" can get you into the playoffs.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 08:41 AM) You could see this one coming a mile away. The Twins weren't going into the season with Harris AND Punto starting, and they didn't feel they could count on Casilla, Tolbert or Buscher. If it matters, Buscher signed with the Indians, so they were never going to count on him.
