  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) The Sox literally subsidize his batting average, his splits vs. us were crazy. Take them away and he is just plain brutal
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) I don't buy that. If he could have got more for Iguchi, I really think he would have gone for another deal. He didn't send anything Toronto's way when Sirotka never pitched again. The Sox were out of it. He had to see if Richar could play. He saved some money shipping Iguchi elsewhere. Talk about a guy who faded fast, I don't think Richar is even on the Reds 40. that played a part in it too. And in regards to Sirotka, he was also a rookie GM at that point and it was his first big trade. I also seem to recall that the Sox did have to send someone back to Toronto as part of that deal, so that was brought upon by MLB. Matt DeWitt and Mike Williams...Mike Williams doesn't have a page, but DeWitt does, and the notable transactions read as
  3. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) Minor league deal. No biggie. I knew "Doobie" wouldn't amount to anything with the Sox organization. I still the Sox shouldn't given up Iguchi to Phillies so easily after Utley went down. It made the 2007 team look even more like the Pirates. That was absolutely a move made on politics. KW was being a gentleman and sent over a thank you gift for the Freddy Garcia deal. I don't see it as anything other than that. Of course he could have gotten more of Iguchi, but Ethical or not, I have absolutely no doubt that's what it was.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) SportingNews I'm fine with that move, as it now allows the Bills to look into a franchise LT with the #11 pick now, and they can go tight end and defensive end with 28 and 42 respectively.
  5. Just look at half of my posts.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) It's VEISHEA! Wite, gonna be in Iowa at all? It's a riotfully good time, though unfortunately I can only really get smashed Saturday night. Wish I could as I'd love to be there, but I have been absolutely ridiculously busy and the busy is culminating this coming weekend, which is Strollers weekend here at USD (when Strollers weekend is usually before Spring Break...they sucked this year)
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) I'd give a lineup with Davis, Hamilton, Cruz, and Blalock the benefit of the doubt before calling them cheaters, but that's just me. When you can score at home and you cannot score on the road, there's some funny business going on.
  8. You need a 4th outfielder and Owens has MLB experience. Getting called up does not guarantee that he's the starter. I imagine he's going to play too much, but just keep expectations tampered.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) I still think that the Rams are going to take Crabtree at 2. Although they are in desperate need of a franchise LT (Jason Smith), they also have no WR's besides Donnie Avery. Crabtree will put a**es in seats there and will sell jerseys. so will a good team ...
  10. I never had any problem with Captain Karkovice. Was he ever actually bad, or did he suck offensively (because he was not good)?
  11. I have been an anti Joe Crede person on this board. I am opening this thread only for good memories of Joe Crede, Sox uniform or not. I'll start... I remember Joe Crede driving in 7 runs in 2 innings in the first year he really came up. I believe it was 2002 against the Blue Jays. I recall the Sox being down 4-1, Crede coming up with 2 on, and the son of a b**** hit a homer. In the bottom of the 10th, Crede came up with the bases loaded, and hit a granny. From that point forward, I knew the Sox had a keeper, and he helped do the unimaginable. I would like Kalapse to post in this thread as well, because he is not opinionated enough, instead basing most decisions on raw black and white statistics. I have called you out, and you shall respond. yes im drunk
  12. I would literally be Albert Pujols, but better. Barry Bonds could not hold my jock strap. I gave up the game because I would have done too much, and I wanted to leave that to mortal people.
  13. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) The Sox also got rid of a much better player in Tim Raines, Jr. to let him hack in Charlotte. I cannot even begin to understand such unbelievable favoritism to such a crappy baseball player. I still have worries that if the Sox finally realize Wise doesn't need to be in CF they'll respond by having him swap places with Owens. Saying Tim Raines Jr is a better player than Jerry Owens is like saying gonorrhea is better than syphilis.
  14. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) It's not really that; it's that the major league team does not have any high average hitters. The "core" basically gives you averages between .260 and .290, but there is nobody that can be counted on to consistently bat over .300. It's another of the ways the team is unbalanced. for f***s sake, a matter of like 6 hits takes you from .290 to .300, given 600 at bats. And besides that, Quentin is a high average hitter, Dye's a high average hitter, Konerko's a high average hitter, Pierzynski's a high average hitter, Ramirez is a high average hitter, and Getz hit .300 in 3 of the 4 years he played in the minors. The Sox have plenty of "high average guys" and anybody b****ing otherwise needs to STFU. They have a good offense.
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) Good job from the offense. This obviously isn't the same Liriano of the past. In fact, he looks rather mediocre now. I guess it won't difficult anymore to answer the question of"Where's our Liriano," because it seems he has become a #3/#4 starter with 6 mph knocked off his fastball. second half of last year...2.74 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, K/9 of almost 9, K/BB of 3? Mediocre? yeah, mediocre. hopefully he's just as mediocre when he faces the Sox in July.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 05:28 PM) Considering Batting Average is a pretty useless statistic, i don't really mind that really. batting average has a pretty direct correlation in regards to OBP, SLG, and OPS. It is overused at times, and a .310 average does not make you a good player, nor does a .230 average make you a bad player, but it is far from useless.
  17. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) Why is it murder charges and not vehicular manslaughter? Doesn't murder involve the planning of killing someone? I do't think this guy went out and said "I'm going to go kill three people tonight," Or as he was blowing through the red light he decided he wanted to kill them. How fast was he going and how was he able to survive? As far as I'm concerned, if you drive drunk, you have full intentions of killing someone, whether you actually do or not.
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 12:24 AM) I just wanted to say... oh man, how good would Either look in a White Sox uni next year? I would love for us to trade for him. Playing half of his games in the cell, he could probably average between 25-30 homers a year. It would look very good. I would also like Barry Bonds and Hank Aaron, in their hey-days of course.
  19. QUOTE (Tmar @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) White Sox Dinner! Way to pitch Alfredo! amen
