  1. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) nah...grienkie is better than that lol Zach Greinke gave up 21 homers last season in 202.1 IP. If you take out what the White Sox did to him, it's 15 homers in 180 IP. The Sox have raked against Greinke in the past.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) He isnt loading up his bat as much which is helping him catch up to fastballs. He also seems to recognize pitches better, so that could be the lasik. will he lose power by not loading the bat up at as much?
  3. Elijah Dukes is a f*** up. Acquiring a person like Dukes would be worse than signing Roger Clemens.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 05:16 PM) Actually, it would be ironic if he started raking. Yeah, probably the wrong word to use there. The word I should have used was something along the lines of "truth."
  5. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) They will not bat him second, at least from what they have hinted at. Also ramirez would be wasted there, pierzynski and ramirez will get on at similar paces, both fairly high contact, neither walk, ramirez has more power, and also ramirez is much more likely to get exposed in the two hole. You would think that Ramirez would get more fastballs to hit in the 2-hole, and he crushes the fastball. I would have absolutely no problem with Alexei in the 2-hole.
  6. QUOTE (almagest @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) Okay, guys, let's slow down here a little. Getz is a good player but he's more than likely not going to block Beckham, and we'd be nuts to trade Beckham unless it was for something spectacular. Far more likely would be Beckham moving to 3B and Fields moving to DH/1B, Alexei moving to CF, Getz being traded, Getz becoming a super sub with ~ 300 AB a season, or Alexei never repeating his rookie year success and being sent down to the minors or relegated to a bench role. I don't doubt any of that, and I don't want to say anything is likely going to happen at this point. I just really like what I've seen from Getz thus far and his statistics generally back up what I've seen. I think he's going to be a good player in the majors.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Beckham for Halladay later this year. You heard it here first. I would jizz.
  8. I really won't be surprised if Getz is already leading off tomorrow with Fields in the 2-hole.
  9. and on Getz, given it has only been one game, but I still don't think it's unreasonable (and perhaps it's very reasonable) that someone will have to move, either to a new position or organization, because Getz is that good. And the players I'm speaking of specifically are Beckham and Alexei.
  10. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Do we really need to make a thread like this after one game? Most people want Getz in first and Wise or BA in 9th. Slamming the guy nonstop however has the unintended effect of absolving others of their mistakes today, which lets face it were dumber than just striking out against a good pitcher. This thread is made after the culmination of last season, spring training, and one regular season game. Dewayne Wise is a bad baseball player and he should be nowhere near the top of the order nor CF ever again. He will be given more chances, but I hope Anderson comes in and makes a good impression early on, ala Quentin last year, and he just takes the reigns over.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Getz makes me horny in as heterosexual a way as possible. He plays well above his skill-set. I expect to see him put up 30+ doubles this season and 10+ homers too along with a .280ish average. He's just a smart player with a good idea of what he wants to do at the plate. I'm excited as hell.
  12. this thread is not nearly as exciting as it should be. Thank you Jim Thome. Dewayne Wise, go home.
  13. he's absolutely worthless...there are almost an unlimited number of players in independent leagues and AAA that could do the same job as him. And he's starting in CF and batting leadoff. It's absolutely god awful.
  14. I would just like to point out how f***ing dumb Trey Hillman is for leaving Farnsworth in against Thome. I'd also like to thank him.
  15. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) Wise looks like a minor leaguer up there irony
  16. just want to say that Crede doesn't make the play that Fields does
  17. I've said before that Danks does scare me. He threw like 40-50 more innings than he'd ever thrown before. Floyd's actually right on the border, but I've got the exact opposite feelings about him.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 11:05 PM) Yeah Cliff Lee will def. win 22 games again and Pavano is gonna be a solid #3 Scott Lewis has been a pretty damn good pitcher coming up in the Indians system and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up pitching like Nick Blackburn did last year. Anthony Reyes has been a pretty solid pitcher coming up and, from everything I've read, he never bought into the Dave Duncan pitching philosophy. In his final 6 starts last year, he absolutely f***ing dominated. Fausto Carmona has amazing stuff and was mediocre last year, but I could easily see him being good again this year. And that's completely forgetting that they have solid options in Westbrook (when he gets healthy), Sowers, and Adam Miller too. Add all of that to the fact that Cliff Lee should be solid again, and Pavano could very easily be a solid starter. Cleveland has had luck with atleast one pitcher like that in the past, and it may be more than that. I am never really sold on Cleveland, but they could very easily be a damn good team this year.
  19. I think the Indians rotation is going to be a lot better than people here think. They are a close #3 behind the Sox, with the Twins being #1.
  20. I'll be there f***ing s*** up
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) I think Floyd is the best pitcher in our rotation. I love Floyd. I'm not the only one. Craziness.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Look, a team rotation full of Lance Broadway/Jack Egberts (ie, guys who might be big leaguers, might not) is going to be a bad major league baseball team. I agree, but the Athletics pitchers are all better than that, and that park plays a huge part in their success. I wouldn't write the A's off yet, but I agree that the Angels are the favorite.
  23. Emilio Bonifacio had the first inside the park home run of the year.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) So far, no he isn't. But Garrard had 1 or 2 good years, got paid, and underachieved this past year. Maybe with a fresh start somewhere he can produce. It's taking a chance on a guy with potential, just like the draft. He's still only 25. On top of not being good at the game of football, he's also a f***ing moron. I imagine we've pretty much seen the last of Reggie Williams in the NFL.
