I told Willie earlier today that the Mets gave out one of the worst contracts of the offseason; I'd be surprised if he's good still in year 3 of this deal (if you even consider him good now a days...I really don't, though he's not a bad player)

I do recall them actually being related somehow

QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 12:01 AM) Me too. Our GM is an idiot. Wait ... he won the World Series. My god, his trades suck so bad. I mean Garland is an inning eater and can pitch. And we get this??? Unfricking believable. GM's must KNOW that KW is in love with the guy he wants to acquire and they just abuse him when making the deals. Had Ken Williams traded Jon Garland for Albert Pujols, you would have been upset.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) but ultimately teams win with pitching. we just got rid of JG the guy who took the bump and gave us a solid chance of winning every 5th day against the other teams #3/#4. now who is going to fill that void? anyhow, it sure was nice to have the chance to pull for JG up to this point in his career. i wish him the best of luck and will miss seeing him in our uniform. And part of pitching is defense, especially if your staff isnt striking guys out at a good rate. Something I just thought of, and it's probably not a huge point but it holds some relevance, and that's that Vazquez had his best years in Montreal with Orlando Cabrera as his shortstop. Whether that's mere coincidence or not, I don't know, but it is true.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 10:16 PM) Just FWIW, someone a few posts ago used a Owens / Ozuna platoon for a leadoff hitter. Just what were the splits for Pablo against LHP in 2006, and Owens against RHP in the 2nd half of 2007 FWIW? Do they give you a .350 OBP for example? Because I guess I could live with that. You could then trade Crede for a nice prospect? Owens vs RHP - sub .330 OBP, sub .650 OPS no, that's not acceptable

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) I could see going to the LAD rather than the Angels When they have James Loney who's put up an OPS+ of 130 in 486 career PAs?

QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) haha one of the best SS's in the league my ass. What about Carlos Guillen, Derek Jeter, Miguel Tejada, Michael Young, Brendan Harris, or Jhonny Peralta? One of these things is not like the other; one of these things just doesn't belong. and by one, I mean two, because one of these guys is pretty average, and another is a 1Bman. And, on top of that, another may be moving to 3B in a year.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) 820AM will NOT have any information like that on the air. So at least that part is bulls***. PERIOD. Let's stop that right part right now. And yes, I'm in Dallas. Any other snooping around that ya'll want me to do? LMAO owned

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 04:13 PM) You're s***ting me. srsly

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 05:24 AM) Would anyone do Danks, Gio and MacDougal for Crawford? no, and so I sure as hell wouldn't give up Danks, DLS, and Aards for him either.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 07:12 AM) The Onion, on the story: Tampa Bay Devil Rays Change Name, Uniform, Sport owned

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) I predict that he gets traded to the Angels. They love him. We'll probably get somebody old back like Orlando Cabrera. Kenny likes old shortstops like Vizquel. Yeah, I'll say Garland for Cabrera and cash. That's my prediction but what do I know. That would be just fine.

QUOTE(Chombi and the Fungi @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) Found this in an article...I posted it in each thread where it applied. The whole article can be found at Rotoworld.com Wouldnt mind Ethier but I'd prefer Kemp first I guess. If you can get Ethier for Crede and MacDougal, you do it and you run like hell back home. That's a 3Bman coming off back surgery and a reliever who put up an ERA of 6.80 and a WHIP of 1.96 for an outfielder who is likely to be an above average hitter for the next 4 years; that's highway robbery. And I can't say Colletti wouldn't make it either.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) LOL, good luck with that, Eck. pretty much agreed straight up; I doubt he gets it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get $7-8 mill a year over 4 years in this ridiculous market. Hopefully some team likes Uribe enough that they'll deal a semi-legitimate prospect for him.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) Eckstein makes $9 million/year? You've got to be kidding me. That's been the speculation; he's looking for 4/$36

QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) I wish we could be saying good bye to Kenny Williams right now instead, but whatever. Thanks for the memories Jon. I wish we could be saying goodbye to overreacting.
-
QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) Well they do play in different leagues. Yeah, exactly, Eckstein hit .300 in the AAAA division, whereas Cabrera hit .300 and put up a .750 OPS in the AL which is about twice as good. Cabrera requires no long-term commitment (though one would not hurt), is better defensively and offensively, isn't near as injury prone as Eckstein, and costs the exact same financially. There is nothing wrong with this deal at all.

Thanks for remaining California cool all these years; now you are in California, so it makes sense.

So, just really curious in all of this...what is really the point of this for either team? The White Sox get a 2nd shortstop, the Angels lose their only real good shortstop, the Sox lose a good starting pitcher and the Angels strengthen a strength...? I really don't think anybody should be surprised by the value returned; it's just the actual return that is brought back that weirds me out. Something's up, but OCab is here for sure.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) if we can't outbid or out attract the.. Royals Indians Rays and Pirates then this organization is in worse shape that I originally thought. You are referring to the same Indians that were a win away from going to the World Series last year, right?

Bills are good

I hope New England scores 70 at this point. Kinda funny, because I actually thought for a second that Buffalo might have half a chance in this game. LOL, no not even close
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) I wouldn't mind Olivo. He wasn't a great game caller when he was here, but he has improved, and he's got a gun behind the plate. Plus, he's a much better hitter vs. lefties then he is vs. righties. QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) well, I haven't really watched him over the past 3 years, so i wouldn't know... I'd still take him over Hall. LOL...so you made a statement as if it were a fact, when in reality you had no knowledge of the circumstances at all?

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) Someone on Buffalo wanna watch for 81 on New England. Only 4 TDs today.
