so is it a banana shaped like a human, or a human shaped like a banana?
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) Its because Ozzie hates him. He is that powerful, because he makes the line ups. he needs to get Timo and Neifi in the games more often then
  3. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) 6 hours to game time??? Oh, no, no, no. Ozzie cost this team a series victory days ago. /InsertShakingHeadEmoticon riiiiiiiiiiiight
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) Rest guys when they clearly weren't pitching well (and, after the season, admitted they were hurt)? Like Buehrle in the second half or Garcia in the first half? You know, do what they said they'd do when Vazquez was first acquired...? Like by accessing the DL, which they did only once last year with the starters (and even then, they called up Haeger initially). They could have very easily put Garcia and Buehrle on the DL last year at some point, let them catch their breath and let their arms recuperate a bit, and gotten McCarthy some time in the rotation.
  5. NSFW...but I love Adam Sandler.
  6. QUOTE(Shadows @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 01:31 AM) Its a travest ya sham and a mocketr.. its a traveshamockry and they will win this one and its a tru guatanteeeeeeeee Grandpa wants his cough medicine back
  7. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) prolly joe morgan. On his double tonight, he said JD Drew fought off the ball that went to the wall. How do you just "fight" that off?
  8. QUOTE(Dan @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) ??? Both Sox can field just fine but neither can hit
  9. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) Wilson Valsez, yes, but Tony Pena has made some sick plays for the royals, and is hitting like .280 something. The highest his OPS ever was in the minors was .671. He may be good defensively, but he's a horrible hitter. and he's hitting .197

  11. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) I wonder what would happen if Erstad broke his ankle tomorrow, BA hit .220 for 2 months, and his supporters would still be saying "Ozzie didn't want him to succeed, he would be better off in that Texas clubhouse." .220 is one number. If he hits .220 with 8 homers in those 2 months and puts up an OPS around .750, he'll be successful. If not, then I'd own up and say he sucked, Ozzie was right, and I was wrong. What else am I going to do? And getting a real CFer is still the best option for this team.
  12. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) Maybe , if it isn't I'm sure you'll tell me. If the pitching holds up , who knows , maybe we'll be the hitless wonders again. Should be a fun season. Loosen up a bit. Yeah it should be a fun season; I can still be critical of a team that has this much offensive talent hitting .223 17 games into the season.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxgirl0838 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) hahahaha...man. i love dumb people just as much as u do...GO ERSTAD! I do too
  14. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) Sad news about Cintron and his grandfather. But, the good news is now, we have 2 scrubs on our roster who would not be on any other team in the majors. Wilson Valdez is on the Dodgers, and Tony Pena Jr. is on the Royals roster, and that's just off the top of my head. So yeah, these guys would be on other rosters.
  15. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) How dare you look at the bright side of things ! You sir are a kool-aid drinking rose colored glasses fool ! Damn your optimism to hell ! Is green really necessary here ? Is .223 excuseable because they've faced good pitchers?
  16. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) So an expert talent evaluator such as yourself only needs 16 games to know Erstad won't hit .275 for the whole season ? I have to agree with you there. Especially the part about half the board. They might be no better than Guillen when it comes to having favorite players and be just as stubborn about who they play and why. But Guillen really is an expert because of his insight on what makes a good major league player. He's been there done that. None of us have and as in most things in life you are more valuable with experience. uhhhh...???
  17. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) Neither does trading Freddy Garcia for a busted project and a AA project. The White Sox could support about $95-100 mill. Garcia put them up to $110. It's simple math really. Aside from that, all GMs have their stinkers; it's still early to be deciding the final outcome, but at the time, it looked horrendous.
  18. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) Wow u can think of players that hit more HR's and have a higher OPS then Estad in our lineup. Thats really deep thinking on your part. Maybe if we had a whole team of guys like that we wouldn't lose a single game and have to listen to u b**** n whine. and if we did, then I wouldn't have to listen you b**** and whine about me b****ing and whining
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) The only problem is, Tadahito Iguchi is not an All-Star caliber second baseman. So why would we want to vote him in? cuz were homers
  20. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) Because the ultimate success in baseball is doing what the Twins, Indians, Marlins and A's have done....being a playoff contending team with a lower quartile payroll. We won it all with a $75 million payroll, there's no reason we can't do it again. Mostly, it's about ego. So the Yankees or Red Sox have never felt the ultimate success in baseball? I mean, in the instance of the Marlins, I just don't understand what's so cool about winning a World Series once every 10 years and then sucking balls for 7 of the next 10, hovering around mediocrity for 2, and then putting it all together. I want success year in, year out, payroll be damned. If I'm spending $150 million, and I can, I'm doing it; if I'm spending $50 million, and that's all I can do, I'm doing it. The point is to put the best team on the field you can, and hope that it's a winning team every year I put that team out.

  23. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:01 AM) Pods? You're giving Pods love? And pitchers can only dominate once every 4-5 days. Crede was our best all around player in the postseason. Do I have to even list the number of times he's come through in the clutch? I don't care who's argubly better than him. He's been an asset to the Sox. And lol@A-rod. He can't spell postseason. What are his numbers again the last few years in the playoffs. That's not to say Crede is as good as A-rod. He's not. But I stand by my belief that from September '05 through September '06; Crede was the best third baseman in the game. All I was implying that if those guys don't do their job, Crede doesn't have a chance to be amazing. He was obviously dominant, but so was the entire pitching staff. And everyone else on the team had their clutch moments as well. And sweet, ARod has sucked; so has half of everyone else on the Yankees. Just look at the numbers, and you'll see why ARod gets so much undeserved flack. ARod has been, by far, a superior 3Bman than Crede, defense included or not; ARod's not better defensively, he's just that much better offensively. QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:29 AM) Beltre isn't worth the $12 mill he's getting for the next 3 yrs. Is Crede worth that much? No. Is Joe worth the $4.95 mill he's getting, and the likely $6 mill he'll get in ARB for 2008? Probably. Yet the sox are likely to go with the Josh Fields experiment in 2008, and not see much of a drop off Seattle's paying Beltre to be a #3, 4 hitter but he's producing like a #6, 7 hitter. That isn't likely to change much, and is probably why they have been trying to unload his contract. No, when Crede signs his deal and he gets 5 years for $50-60 million and then becomes a mediocre players, Beltre will be a better "value" or whatever the hell you want to call it over Crede.
  24. QUOTE(Shadows @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) So what You don't know what Erstad is going to do this year, he could turn it around or he might not. whose to say Konerko isn't gonna have a year like he did in what, 2003 where he sucked it up big time.. All im saying is no one is hitting right now, so lets just wait and see what happens When was the last time Erstad hit 40 homers or put up an OPS of .900+? I can think of 3 guys in the lineup that have done that within the past 2 years. When was the last time he had an .800 OPS? I can think of about 3 others that did that last year. And since when is he signed to a long-term deal? That would make it a little easier to cut him loose, wouldn't it? I just hope for the good of the organization, we can all end this entire debate and get a real CFer because Erstad is ridiculous, 3 for 5 today or not.
