I'm usually pretty optimistic when it comes to areas like this, and I said all spring training that I think he'll come back. Just a hunch, but he's the exact type of pitcher you can break the prototypical rule with, and he'll be as close to worth the money he's going to get as any pitcher on the market. He seems to really represent the city of Chicago as a whole very well, and he's a pretty damn good pitcher to top if off. I see him coming back, but maybe I'm just a lunatic.

Official 2007 NFL Draft Thread
witesoxfan replied to knightni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 12:48 PM) I'd take the #6 but I want to keep the #31. There's no chance you can do that. Briggs is good, but he's not worth the #6 overall, nor is a 2nd and Briggs worth #6. And really, there's not a huge difference between 31 and 37. If they could though, I'm not sure why they wouldn't. I just don't see it as possible. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) I wish that OSU's Gonzalez would fall to the Bears pick in the 2nd round. He'd be a get there, and a nice fit for the current team, where Muhammad will still be considered #1, with a chance to grow into more. Any idea where Lorenzo Booker is going to fall? Scott Wright has him going in the 3rd round, 72 overall, to Minnesota. NFL Draft Countdown -
Well, seeing as how there's a roster spot cleared right now, uhhhhhh, how about Eduardo Perez? Have him DH 50% of the time, including 100% of the time against lefties, and then have Mackowiak rotate between RF, LF, and DH with Dye playing RF and DH. Just a suggestion

If all that's true, it's quite obvious that Ozzie wasn't at the bottom of the stairs to catch him. Ozzie, please do something right for once.

Torii Hunter should be getting a 3 YEAR suspension
witesoxfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) ? Southsider started the thread. I wish Soxtalk went back to the days of early 2005 and before.. I'm not talking about Hunter, I'm talking about MLB giving out trophies. You did bring that up. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:03 AM) He pitched well though. Never said he didn't, in fact I've stated that throughout. QUOTE(Top Notch @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) - Curt Schilling If I were a multi-millionaire, I'd do it in a heartbeat just to see. The worst case scenario for me is that I make an ass out of myself and a million goes to the ALS charity. The problem is, I'm not a millionaire, so until a millionaire who is curious to see is, this is all still unclear and never will be clear either way. This may be Schilling having a little fun with the media, and it's hard to say without hearing him say it, but regardless of what he meant by it, this is him talking about how much money he has; does that seem like a great guy to you?
-
It's kind of incredible really that the cycle occurs less than the no-hitter does. Or maybe it's not, and it just seems that way because the media orgasms over no-hitters and just mentions the cycles as something that's pretty damn neat. Regardless; that's 5 cycles and 16 no-hitters in White Sox history. That's quite a difference.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) Have you ever had surgery on a foot, and then played a sport directly afterward? I have. And it bled through my shoe. I was merely posing a question, and you provided a comparable comparison. And the only time I've ever had surgery on my foot, I didn't play a sport afterwards, but I didn't become physically inactive either; it wasn't a 9 inch scar, but they cut quite deeply. I don't recall it bleeding, but it was also like 8 years ago, so the details are a bit shady. Anyways, if yours bled through the shoe though, why did Schilling's only appear in various small amounts, never increasing throughout the game? Whatever, don't answer that, because I can keep bringing up questions like that and furthering an endless, pointless discussion. It's two different surgeries, so maybe there are differences. All I'm saying is Schilling hyped the s*** up out of that sock, and he sucked quite a few people into it with that hype, regardless of what it actually was. He could have changed the sock or the gauze, and no one noticed a thing, but it did get the hype it got, and I'm not surprised in the least.

I love hanging on the rafters while smoking a cigar and sticking my junk out like so. I just have no idea what these girls are doing here.
-
QUOTE(Top Notch @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) ...and we're concerned with the socks that he wore? It's merely a question, and that type of surgery looks like it would have been wrapped up in enough gauze to not bleed through the sock. I mean, I assume that is what it looked like right afterwards; I'm sure he didn't just throw a sock on and say let's go pitch. I'm not questioning the talent and will of the player, just the character and the circumstances of him.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Yeah, selfish, yeah greater than god. http://www.shadefoundation.org/bb_weekly.php http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/05/24/220901.php http://www.charitywines.com/ http://www.curtspitchforals.org/curt/about/press.asp http://wcbs880.com/pages/92515.php?content...ontentId=212554 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Inning_Game Frank Thomas donates to charities too, and he's as selfish as anyone in the league. I never said he was an asshole like Bonds. And that still doesn't answer my main question of that post. How would there be blood on the sock?
-
Nothing agianst Schilling - he did pitch just after surgery, I don't doubt, and I have all the respect in the world for him. However, but I have a question. If it were really blood coming from his surgery, why would it have stopped bleeding? Or why would there just be a set amount of blood on it? Wouldn't they have wrapped it in enough gauze that blood wouldn't seep out? If it not, wouldn't it have been literally blood red throughout? And Greg, normally, no, I don't think a person would think about doing that. But from a person with a selfish, greater than god attitude like Curt Schilling? You bet your ass I do.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) Who cares about all this? Stop being so defensive, it doesn't matter. You brought it up, so someone cares about it. -
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) .250 makes Terrero look like Ty Cobb next BA swinging too late on an 85 mph blazer. .250 at Charlotte with no walks while playing everyday. Do you think everyone throws it 92 in Charlotte? That's worse than BA

I dunno; I'm not really saddened by such an injury, but I don't think I'm really happy this happens. I think the best way I can describe is like a feeling of satisfaction. I'm fine with the injury, because it weakens the Twins, but it doesn't mean I'm happy. I'm happier when I see the other teams in the division playing like s*** rather than getting banged up. Besides that, I can just about imagine getting my mouth hit. If you've ever falling on your face, you can just about imagine what the hell he's going through and son of a b**** that would hurt like hell. It's not a crippling injury, one that just hurts like hell and pisses you off.

QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) that Royals- Twins affair this afternoon was some of the ugliest baseball played in a long time close to or over 25 runners were on base and only 1 run was scored that in the bottom of the 11th I've actually heard Gardenhire use some reasons for the team's struggles that would make White Sox people proud. Pitchers have really been changing speeds and moving in and out very well recently against the Twins, atleast according to Gardenhire. Could it just be that he hasn't moved Casilla and Punto out of leadoff spots yet, what with their .268 and .278 OBP? I understand why Casilla's on the roster and in the lineup, but you don't need to have him leadoff. I think that's what really bugs me the most is some managers refuse to go break the mold and go with an untypical leadoff hitter. Why not move Punto or Casilla down to the bottom of the order and then just move everybody up one spot (Mauer 2, Cuddyer 3, Morneau 4, Hunter 5, etc). It's hard for Cuddyer or Morneau to get 1st inning RBIs when the only one that's ever on base is Mauer, and that's usually with 2 outs.

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 04:14 AM) That would make Iowa... (checks map)... Satan's left armpit then, right? and the Dakota's his head or something that's right, ya'll best not be messing with me or I'll throw some evil or something like that your way.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) Wow, what now? Not quite sure why Aardsma won't be available. What a disaster is on our hands right now. lol, just having fun with the postponement

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 07:58 AM) When was the last time he shut us down? Last year sometime? He's had two scoreless appearances against the Sox, had one in September and then one in August before you can find an outing in which he allowed a run against the Sox. That's 4 scoreless outings in a row, and seeing as how he was only asked to get 1 out, it's really not that surprising that it happened. And, just an FYI, he's faced the Sox 10 times since the start of last year, and has had 9 scoreless outings. Let's not act like he gets lit up every time he faces the Sox. QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 10:52 AM) It was quite the ugly performance. Any word if Thome and/or Dye will be back in the lineup tonight? Definitely not. Neither will PK, Pierzynski, or Erstad.
-
White Sox team splits VS LHP .197/.296/.258/.554 no, I'm not lying. That's like having 9 Darin Erstad's in the lineup at all times.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) That's right he really really really really hasn't. Neither Konerko or Hunter did either. Jim Thome had an OPS right around .700. The fact of the matter is that Anderson's had right around 400 PA's in the majors, and there's no telling how good or bad he's going to be over the course of his career. Using his career OPS is a horrendous argument though, unless it's justification for why he should be in the minors instead of getting 1 start a week at the MLB level. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) Not with the bases loaded and a 3-1 count they weren't. HE KNEW WHAT WAS COMING! It was put on a tee for him. There was no guessing involved and it was placed on a tee. No other player on the White Sox did this. Not one. Only BA. I'm sure 12 other White Sox hitters would have put that ball in the stands.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) And back down to 29th. Scary that after almost a full month of baseball we are hitting .229 as a team. it's quite obviously been cold all month
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) So, question...does this mean that Rogowski was able to clear waivers and no one else had any interest in picking him up? Yeah it does. There's just not much value in 1Bman with no power.

witesoxfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
It's not one team/player offering a reward or gift to another team/player. It's the league itself offering a reward or gift to a team/player. That should clarify what is meant by the rule and what I was trying to say. -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 02:10 AM) I still like the fact that they brought the tying run to the plate. Too bad Brian was trying to tie it with one swing instead of just trying for solid contact. Still, they played like s*** (which all teams do) and still had a chance to win. Why not try and tie it with one swing? You're facing Todd Jones, the count is in your favor, and there's no guarantee that two more guys are going to get to the plate (which is what it likely would have taken to tie the game otherwise). I just wish Thome or Dye were healthy enough to take a swing, but s*** happens and I think we'll all live. It was a bad game, and the blame goes around equally for everyone offensively, because getting shut down by this guy 2 times is ridiculous.
