  1. Ozzie made one dumb mistake today in the 9th - pinch hitting Podsednik for Uribe - when down by 1. I'm just of the belief that you don't put a singles hitter in over a power hitter in a 1 run game, especially when Uribe is off to a hot start. Just doesn't make sense to me in the least. Other than that, he managed well today, and that really wasn't a move that was going to cost the team anyways. This loss is entirely on the offense sucking complete ass. Agree with Rowand that this team feels good, if you will, right now, but you have to remember this team got outstanding pitching until about June 1 last year when Garland turned his season around. I want to see the pitching be able to keep that up, and the offense has to turn it around, plain and simple.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) He is our best defensive CF'er drink a little more kool-aid
  3. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) Why is it "Ozzie brought in a ring" over "Kenny brought in a ring"? KW deserves more credit than any non-player for our World Series. The trades and signings he made to amass the amount of talent he did within a short timespan and limited budget was more than impressive. \ God, f***ing thank you. Ozzie hasn't put s*** on this roster, he didnt trade for Thome, he didnt sign Hermanson, he didn't call up Jenks, he didn't sign Shingo...I can go on, but its f***ing pointless. The 2005 postseason had as much to do with Ozzie as it did with me, period. Without the roster Kenny Williams put together, that team doesnt do a f***ing thing. I'm tired of blind supporters of Ozzie Guillen, because blind supporters of anything are entirely wrong. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) Brian Anderson. The cure for all that ails this team a whopping 10 games into the season. Let's wait until it at least stops snowing before changing the starting lineup out of spring training. what's Erstad done in the past 2 and a half years to justify a starting spot over Brian Anderson? Hell, what's Erstad done in those 2 and a half years to justify a spot over Luis f'ing Terrero? the answer you would be looking for would include injury and everything else mediocre
  4. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) here's tangible evidence - he's starting, brian isn't. get over it. thanks for the worst argument ever, seriously. I could start over Brian Anderson, what the f*** does that mean? jack f***ing s***.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) That lineup is fine. If we had the pitching efforts of this year with the lineup we had set up last year we would be winning a lot more games. The White Sox offense was one of the worst in the year majors in the second half last year. Erstad only makes it worse. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) It's only semi-sarcasm. Anderson probably isn't a major league caliber CF (at least at the plate). If it were my team, I'd give Anderson a shot at starting again. So the bottom line for me is that if the Sox aren't going to start him he needs to be out of the organization and the Sox need to find a CF. No, he needs to be in AAA starting if he's not getting 300-400 ABs worth in the majors.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) And dont forget that each and every swing the players take are directly influenced by the manager. All of Darin Erstad's are. He shouldn't be starting, period.
  7. Darin Erstad is Timo Perez except he's starting. He is killing the Sox so f***ing much right now.
  8. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) I'm taking that comment firmly tongue in cheek, wite... that would be the correct interpretation
  9. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) Erstad sucks who cares if we won, BA should be playing, he is so great, Erstad started off good but lately he he sucks, who cares if some people started off crappy and still are Erstad sucks, how can we celebrate a win when Erstad sucks, he is just going to keep getting worse, we should trade him, he is horrible, I told you so, he doesn't know how to catch. sorry......18 miller lites has cause this that may as well have been me last night. And drunk ramblings are always right.
  10. Ozzie won a ring. Remember that folks before you criticize any move he made or didn't make today.
  11. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) I think Erstad will come around. There are a lot of bad swings and misses by Sox hitters. Remember Erstad once had 240 hits in a year so he knows a bit about hitting. However, I do like Iguchi in the #2 spot also. I was a 12 going on 13 year old in elementary school when Darin Erstad got 240 hits, now I'm a 19 going on 20 year old about to finish my freshman year of college. Do the math, that's a long time, especially for baseball players.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) It's like Vazquez's deal. If the White Sox were looking to cut back on salary to get back to $80 million, it's a pretty bad deal unless he turns into Johan. If the Sox are looking to stay near $100 million, it's an ok to pretty good deal because that's relatively fair market value and still allows him to be traded. Kind of confused here...if the Sox were looking to cut back payroll, Vazquez would be one of the first to go. If they're looking to keep the payroll where it is, he'll be around, put up solid numbers, and be a great market value player. Unless Vazquez gets hurt - and that risk holds true for every MLB player period - it's a great deal because it allows so much flexibility for the Sox.
  13. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) Berroa came through the A's system, which has been very good at producing players, especially college players. But Tejada and Hernandez (Catcher) come to mind, off the top of my head, in terms of Latin prospects. The Braves have had their shares of Damon Hollins, George Lombard's, Bruce Chen's, Wade's, Glenn Williams, etc. However, they've produced a lot more All-Star caliber players than the White Sox. Meh, Berroa will always be mediocre or below average, opposed to Peralta and McCann who've shown the ability to be outstanding players already (though Peralta still has stone hands). However, the thing about the Braves is that it almost always seems as though they know when to get rid of players. In a case like George Lombard, they got Kris Keller out of him - who threw only 1 IP - but atleast that's something. I'd imagine several organizations would have gotten absolutely nothing for him at all.
  14. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) This reminds me of the post from the guy who said he'd break his TV if the Bulls drafted Tyrus Thomas. well he can't be too disappointed seeing as how Portland drafted him.
  15. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) Just making a point. Berroa, by the way, was Rookie of the Year, and the Royals gave him a guaranteed through this season, even though he's parked in AAA right now. McCann has only had around 650 at-bats. That's essentially one season. It holds more ground than I initially anticipated, but Berroa has never walked in his entire career, he strikes out at a pretty poor rate, and his power is mediocre at best. Peralta's always had atleast decent power, and he had great power in 2004 and 2005. And I just can't question the ability of the Braves to scout talent, because they've always done it and they just really don't produce many busts or flameouts. That's wrong of me, but he's pretty much great.
  16. get completely hammered and see what happens from there best.advice.evar.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) Remember when the Twinkies were considered idiots for passing on Prior and taking Mauer? Some can bring up the question that Prior was on the juice, and you never know. But he had such good mechanics and those massive legs, I don't see how he wouldn't be a good pitcher without the juice anyway. If he was to be released, I would not mind and have him in AAA, the guys has potential, no doubt about it. He's wouldn't accept an offer that puts him in AAA.
  18. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 09:03 AM) I want to see one more season from McCann to make sure he doesn't go the Peralta/Angel Berroa route and his career takes a U-Turn. Please tell me you're not comparing Jhonny Peralta and Brian McCann to Angel Berroa.
  19. People within the Chicagoland area don't fully appreciate Twins-Sox either, so I have that going for me.
  20. No. It doesn't prove who is superior in the city, it doesn't have an effect on the standings, and there are very few (though more than Sox) Cubs fans in this region. It's a rivalry, no doubt, and it's the most intense interleague rivalry in the game (regardless of anything ESPN may try and stuff down your throat), but it's flat out not the same.
  21. ballgame, Morneau wins it with a walk-off
  22. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) Just wait until you guys see Crawford's baserunning errorS in the 9th inning in a 2-2 game. I tried to describe it in the MLB catch-all. Ruben Rivera really has company right now.
  23. I really am not sure if I want Carl Crawford right now. What a f***ing idiot. No outs, Zobrist on 1st, Crawford doubles to the wall off of Nathan. Zobrist is wisely held at 3rd, but Crawford doesn't give a s*** and tries for the triple. So, Zobrist runs towards home, for whatever reason, and Crawford is standing on 3rd. Zobrist runs back to 3rd, but it's pointless because Crawford is there and he'll be tagged out regardless - BUTTTTTTTTTTTT Crawford decides he needs to retreat to 2B, and is thus thrown out there. There's a rally killing, and then there's that. I dont know how the Twins get so f***ing lucky, because this game should be atleast 3-2 right now going to the bottom of the 9th. Somebody on that team owes the Sox a major f***up, because they have given Minnesota some ridiculous breaks in their history.
