QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) So I was watching CNN and there was an angry radio host (whom happen to be a black woman) throwing all whites into a group, saying whites are the only racists basically, that, good sir, is what my teacher told me the definition of irony was. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Also, Sweeney is really heating up. Both his homer and double were to LF, so I hope that means he was going with the pitches. uhh..........what other option is there exactly?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) Talent wise I'm not sure it's even close. If he doesn't jump into that f***ing wall in right center at the King Dome he'd have passed Aaron by now. HEY HE CAUGHT THE BALL AND PERHAPS SAVED THE GAME, ISNT THAT ALL YOU CAN ASK FOR OUT OF A PLAYER /Aaron Rowand

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) If he were being used in a platoon in CF this year I'd have no problem, 250-300 ABs at the major league level will do him good but considering the circumstances I don't see BA getting anywhere near that man at bats unless Erstad or Pods go down with an injury and if that happens then he can be called up at the time of the injury anyway. 1-4 AB a week at the major league level is only going to hurt his offensive progression especially when he could be getting 15-20 a week at Charlotte. K, was just making sure my thinking wasn't completely inane. And I of course agree with that line of though.

Thomas tore his tricep, and the way he fell, it really doesn't surprise me that it tore at all. I mean, I'm sure there's physics and medical science and all that gibberish that I don't understand and never will, but when 275 pounds goes from running to falling/diving at full extension, hitting the ground hard, and landing from 6'5 in the air, I'd imagine that type of force could very easily tear a relatively small muscle on the back of the arm.

not to defend Ozzie in this situation, because regarding BA, I don't think there is any defense. However, long term, are limited major league at bats - say 250 over the course of a season - more useful in terms of success as opposed to 500 in the minors? Obviously, Anderson's on pace for about 100 ABs, so he should be in AAA regardless of that, but I'm more or less just trying for opinions right now to see if he is theoretically in the right spot right now.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:48 AM) I just see the market as insane right now, with the steep price the Marlins paid for f***ing Jorge Julio! the equivalent of the White Sox trading Heath Phillips for a solid reliever. Or, on a higher scale, the White Sox trading Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes for the power arm of Mike MacDougal.

White Sox "collapse" in Power Ratings after 1 game?

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) Its dumb to rank until at least May. Exactly, it's like college basketball rankings. The only reason they have them are for the fans really, they aren't meaningful at all because there's no basis for half of these. -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 05:39 PM) How do we know the divorce isn't deserved? What if Jose was cheating on her? Would you still feel bad for him? /Devil's Advocate. It's already been brought up, and I still don't see how that changes the fact that the timing of it is horrible.
-
QUOTE(max power @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 01:38 AM) He would deserve the timing if he did something really crappy. Really? I don't feel anybody ever "deserves" that type of emotional pain at any time; rather, it happens out of necessity. I doubt she was happy to be file the divorce papers, and whether she put it on him when she did doesn't change the fact that the timing is horrible for him. What you are doing is speculating about something you have no details about. That is wrong. It could be mutual, it could be on her, and it could be on him but something he has no power over (such as being on the road 4-6 months out of the year). Speculating, on this subject, is wrong, period.
-
QUOTE(max power @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 01:16 AM) Maybe he screwed around on her or treated her like crap, jeez. Maybe its all her fault. I just wouldn't blame her if the former is the case and you guys shouldn't be assuming anything at this point. Editted for curses. no one is questioning why, just merely the timing. If you had a speech to give in front of 1,500 people within your company, and your wife came up to you 15 minutes before hand and handed you divorce papers, I think you'd be a bit shaken up. Hence, why she could have atleast held off for like a day.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Back on topic, Monday was a good day in the AL Central. I really wish Cleveland would start losing.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) You are way off. I'm sure every team would love 8 RBI's a week from a player despite hitting .182. Runs are the most important factor in the end. If you have someone driving them in, I'll take that over someone hitting .333 and never scoring or driving in runs. so you're taking Raul Ibanez over Jim Thome?

just an actual question...is straining your hamstring considered breaking down? I look forward to mixed response.

QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) ask anyone what games are most important and they will tell you divisional games, take care of business in your own division and you have a GREAT chance of making the playoffs sorry if you dont buy that argument but thats the truth How do you win those games? You pitch You are agreeing with me and you don't even realize it.

who is that left fielder and what has he done with Scott Podsednik
-
QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) my point is that even if we lose these 3 games we can still compete for the division. the easiest way to do that: win your divisional games. why do you think the sox won the division in '05? they had a ridiculous record against AL central opponents. And if they get swept by Minnesota, they can still win the division. I dont understand your argument And, regardless of the record against the division, the reason they won was pitching, period. They beat teams within the division because they pitched well. 3.61 is a hell of a lot better than 4.61, and that's why they won in 05 and they didnt in 06. Period.
-
QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) i dont think these next 3 games will really have an impact on whether or not we compete for a division title. in fact we could even drop these next 3 but take care of business against division rivals and win the central that way. those division games are more important than these. And tonight's a great day to gain a game, so no, these are just as important as divisional games.

Speaking of that Cubs game, I was listneing to Pat and Ron on the way back to school, because it was the only baseball game on. In the future, I'll listen to silence over that garbage - god, Santo is horrendous.
-
QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) yes and no, when you consider the 4-23 record (0.148 winning pct.) in the last 27 games 1-2 (0.333 winning pct.) would actually be a decent series historically speaking 2007 is not 2001-2006 or whatever the hell that timetable is. I don't give a s*** if they struggle historically, that is in the past for a reason.

If KW trades for a minor league leadoff man, it will be

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) It would take Gio, Broadway and either Sweeney or Fields. It would make no sense at all, if the White Sox couldn't get him to agree to an extension (like the Garcia deal). Last season really seemed to bring down the price of players at the deadline. All teams realize that they'll only have the player for 2-3 months, and it just isn't worth mortgaging the future for one piece that may or may not be the final piece of the puzzle. These teams also realize the team trading said piece either has to get rid of him or take a decreased price for the player as they lose them to arbitration in the form of 2 draft picks in the best case scenario. I really don't think Sweeney or Fields would be necessary because of that. Gio and Broadway is probably the most it would take, and that's way too much for me unless Ichiro resigns at 4/$60.
