QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) He did but the old man didn't listen I think Jerry did not want to answer that question because he would have to mention Maggs as the worst move about the year
-
Did Bruce just say we built the team around less RBIs? I can understand less HRs but less RBIs?????
-
Didn't this guy ask JR what was the best and worst move THIS YEAR? Not ever.... I guess I heard it that way anyways...
-
Did I see the writer put Royce Clayton there as an All Star?????

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Rowand is quickly becoming one of the anchors of the team. Right up there with Konerko, Buehrle & Frank. Umm.....no Let him first produce in back to back seasons. Then we will worry about being an anchor and all that jazz
-
Robbie Alomar is still looking for a job and we all know the hard on Kenny has for him
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) If the sox wanted to sign him it would have taken a guaranteed contract. You would be willing to give him one? I sure as hell know i would not. Why not give him a minor league deal like the Indians gave him? Or at least try?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) I'm not worried about him. He's washed up. I sure as hell wouldnt have wanted him. Every year some teams get these low risk, high reward washed up players to work and it helps them big time Did you know Rod Beck was better than Koch last year? Did you know Carpenter was better than any freaking starting pitcher on our squad?
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) Rowand was a career .283 hitter coming into last season i believe. Just saying. And what are Juna's career #s ? ... Just saying
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) We didn't need another OFer, especially one that injury prone. So you rather bank on Rowand producing like last year (his first decent year ever) and Pod returning to his two year back form? Umm...ok whatever
-
Whatever happened to freaking Sirotka? Yes he was out for one year with Toronto but he has just not bounced back.... how come? He was pretty solid....what the hell happened? Parque never had the stuff but Sirotka did....
-
I wish we had got him....I had him in my radar for a minor league contract Low risk, high reward deals are huge for a team like ours with salary constraints The Indians are quietly getting in position to contend for the division. And we all know if they even have one winning season, they will spend the money for another 10 year run at the division, while we will continue to twiddle our thumbs
-
Can we get back to the topic at hand? So, if for one sec, we assume this trade does go down and we get Mr Consonant and Kim, is that a good thing? I would prefer Mr Consonant to Gload and if we are giving up marginal prospects for Kim, and Boston is taking on a huge chunk of that $6M salary, why not.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) We're in agreement. I think. I don't think there's anything at all flawed about looking at it as Lee for those 5 players. In fact, that was the reasoning behind my post. As for Cerbaho... settle down champ. Here is the flaw in looking at this deal as CLee for those 5 players and saying this was a great deal for the Sox. Yes, I agree that Clee for those 5 players is great, assuming the Sox payroll was going to stay the same. BUT those who criticize the Lee deal with Milwaukee can say why didn't Kenny get, say for the sake of argument, someone else from another team for CLee that had the same salary as the players we got from Milwaukee. Hence, then we would still have the remainig players on the team (AJ, El Duque etc) BUT also have someone better than Pod and Vizcaino. Now the flip side of this argument of course is that maybe Kenny COULD NOT find any other team's players at the salary he got Pod and Vuizcaino at and at the positions he wanted and the type of players he wanted (i.e speed and grinder at OF like Pod). No one will ever know whether Clee could have been traded for some other OF and relief pitcher from some other team at the same salary, but those who criticize this trade have a point in that maybe there was a better combo of players possible for someone like Lee at the same salary.

I have a stupid question. Why do teams do trades with PTBNL? I mean, when the trade occurs, I believe, the team giving up the PTBNL gives the other team a list from which they can choose that PTBNL. WHy doesn't the team receiving the PTBNL just name the person they want from their list? What is the purpose of this PTBNL in any trade? Is it because the team receiving the PTBNL cannot make up their mind when the trade goes down?
-
We only give up Marte for Castillo if we can get Castillo signed to an extension No way I give up Marte for a one year guy.... Keep him in mind though for the trade deadline if we are in it and the Fish are out of it (both of which are possible)
-
One more point. Even if we do not get Ray right now, keep an eye open for this happening at the trade deadline if we do not get Iguchi right now Kenny is the king of making a losing team eat up salary of a vet they want to dump for prospects
-
One thing people need to remember is that Ray gives us a lot of the HRs we have lost with the loss of Maggs, CLee and Valentin back Trust me, you still need power to win in this game, especially at our ball park Just look at Boston and the Card line up last year. Also, Ray would easily hit 25-30 dingers at the "new and improved" Cell
-
I would love to get Ray back...obviously with SF taking a huge chunk of the contract Give them AA prospects and get it done
-
Relax guys....it is just Cairo If we do not get Iguchi, I bet KW will get someone MUCH better than Cairo at the trade deadline Chill fellas....geez, the way some of you hyperbole someone like Cairo, it seems like he is Barry Bonds It is ok if we have one hole going into the season. Our division is not that strong to worry about to begin with
-
Will we lead the league in DPs with Frank, Paulie and AJ????
-
My biggest concern with Crede is that he starts fast this time and just tanks after the AS break That way, we will not do anything to upgrade at the trade deadline for 3B and then find out the guy will cost us a pennant or something like that :banghead
-
Do not worry....KW will only make trades at the deadline where he forces the other team to pay for the player we are getting (or most of it) Or we can simply get Robbie back for free from the streets....he does dive well head first
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:47 AM) a catcher that can hit, now that is something that will be fun getting used to.. Did you post something? Because I swear I was simply staring at your avatar DAMN
-
Robbie might be available right now since the Cards got Grudz, they will not sign Robbie now I believe So we will not need to give up prospects AGAIN for Alomar Or Everett at the deadline
