  1. One word: Pathetic. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Start at DH 'once out of a lifetime' for Vizquel KANSAS CITY -- Omar Vizquel acknowledged he had to do a second take when he saw the lineup posted Friday. Vizquel, who broke into the Majors in 1989 with the Mariners, was the White Sox designated hitter. It was the first time in his 20-plus years in the Major Leagues that Vizquel was the DH. "It just felt strange," Vizquel said Saturday. "No doubt it was different. I felt anxious to go on the field. My thing is the defense, and everybody knows that. I feel I needed to go on the field. You always have to do everything once. I think that's a good experience to feel what a DH felt before, because I've never done it. "I went down the lineup and said, 'DH, Wow.' You usually see the DH in the top part of the lineup, but never as the last hitter." While Vizquel, 43, is one of the best fielding shortstops in the history of the game, maybe being a DH would extend his career for another 10 years. "Not a chance," Vizquel said and smiled at the suggestion. "It is once out of a lifetime." Vizquel said he did not get the lineup card. "I should have asked for it," he said. He went 1-for-4 as the DH.
  2. This is basically a no confidence vote in Bobby right now- if he was on his game I have to believe he's in there right now
  3. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 15, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) Why not pinch hit AJ here? That's why I guess
  4. 2 hits through 6. This offense is so pathetic, I am tempted to pack it in for the year already, how sad
  5. With our offense, you'd have to say the odds of us losing are 85-90% already...
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 15, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) 7:10 first pitch per Gonzalez and Cowley. Thanks!
  7. Is there any talk about getting this game started or eta?
  8. QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ May 14, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) tell me too Fathom where are you when we need you?!?!?!?!?
  9. Can someone for once and for all tell me what was the fall out between Hawk and Wimpy? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 12, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) For those of you who were wondering if the Closer's role is overated, it is. The Twins prove this every year at every position it seems
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) Let's trade Pierre, Teahen, Kotsay and Vizquel for Carlos Zambrano or David Ortiz. Haha. I love those post-game callers (Cubs fans are more famous for this) who think you can package 5 pieces of crap (like Fields, BA and Getz) and get back an All-Star caliber player. Konerko's, FWIW, not the problem....but is he part of the solution going forward? That's the big question. And at what price does it stop making sense? If not Konerko, it has to be Flowers or Viciedo in that spot (if we're looking at internal solutions). We'll be #26-30 in attendance if we use Josh Kroeger. Personally, I think the odds of AJ sticking around past this year are pretty remote. We have to stick it out with developing Tyler at catcher for as long as possible because of the offensive OPS advantage he'll give us over everyone but Mauer in our division. I'm not so sold on Flowers, his bat looked really slow to me last year, but I could be wrong. Let's hope he can live up to expectations as I'd like to see AJ go at the end of the year as well- it's just time I think to go younger at that position. I don't see any prospects for us at 1B outside of Viciedo, and who believes he'll be ready next year?
  12. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) Park Factor has been one of my top arguments for not acquiring him over the past few years. I posted this in the Juan Pierre Trade thread back in December: Now it's May and he's hitting .188 with a .000 ISO in his 12 home starts. The Sox really need to do a better job tailoring their roster to fit their home ballpark. I remember this comment as well and I thought it was extremely perceptive, however, I haven't seen Pierre hit the ball out of the infield enough to even see this proven true or false- all I've personally seen is the guy is getting the bat taken out of his hands and loves a nice 2 hopper to second base
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) Ugh, that pisses me off that he's warming up. We really need a long man, especially with this clunker of a pitching staff. I have no confidence in this coaching staff to make even the most BASIC decisions correctly. Having Santos throw in an 12-0 game makes no sense. Wear out RW's arm the rest of the way and who gives a F**K what his ERA is when this game ends, he's worthless anyways....my goodness...
  14. Why the HELL is Santos up????? WTF!!!!! Why waste an ounce of energy on one of our best relievers in a 11-0 game? Jeeeeze have we all lost our minds?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  15. Can anyone justify Randy William's existence on this ballclub? I am wondering if management watches the same guys we do?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) I'm so on the trade Buehrle bandwagon right now. Doesn't he have a partial NTC? I'm all for it as well if we can get anything in return for him
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) Why are we having our pitcher bat in the 2nd spot? I don't know what the hell has happened to Beckham, but he looks like he needs to go back to the minors. I never thought I'd see him look this BAD....ever Right now I am doubting that he's going to get it back together again this year :-(
  18. He's been brutal so far, but I'm hopeful we'll see some improvement as I don't want to make judgments based on one month of baseball
  19. QUESTION: Do you bring in Bobby and hold your breath in the 9th??? I'd love to see me some Santos out there personally, but I know it won't happen.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Sheesh. This guy has ZERO value on our roster. Good thing we went lefty lefty there as that matchup always works so well...........NOT Geez, you'd think that after a few seasons of OVER MANAGING these decisions he'd stop it??? I mean, he has to be the worst guy in our pen- total joke
  21. Gordo looks really bad today- just when I thought he was breaking out of this too...
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) He's been great at 2nd this year, back off. Not to mention the guy took him out there, he couldn't get enough mustard on the throw, wasn't Gordo's fault there
  23. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) No worries. Randy Williams is up. And I know he has good memories at this ballpark from last year ;-)
