I am calling for this year's "Rally Crede" to be Rally Rios! It all begins with Alex's 3 hit night tonight if we get people to agree to the new Rally Rios avatar.... http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/AlexisRios2008Season.jpg I am recommending this as the Rally Rios Avatar...if some graphic guy wants to improve upon it, be my guest. Rally Rios! The 15-2 run begins tonight!

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) If we win the division it'd be arguably the biggest choke job by Detroit in modern baseball history. We still have shown no signs of sustaining anything. It's all on Detroit. Detroit would have to totally piss it away and completely choke by losing five of six against us or all six. We had our chances this season ... this ain't gonna happen. I just can't see our offense magically coming alive for the next 17 games, but stranger things have happened I guess. Realistically we will need to take the 6 games against Detroit and also sweep the Twins to make it happen. Tough sledding for sure. What is going to be this years "Rally Crede" or "Dweezy"??? Let's get it started now!

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) bench that f***ing guy already Rios looks horrible. In that youtube video he says "who gives a f***?" after the guy said he went 0 for 5 with 5 k's. I think that sums up his attitude. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) Quentin really looks awful at the plate. Next year is so huge for him. I am sure no one has an answer to why, but any guesses why?? Do you think its the hand? I cannot get over how a guy could dominate like he did last year and now looks so pathetic... -

We have to be more patient against Lester. To me it doesn't appear the guy can find the strike zone consistently and we've been swinging at a lot of bad balls.... -

I live in Eastern Europe. I will "lay seed" in my new 19 yr old Ukrainian GF (I am 37) and deal with the consequences.... I think that's kinda reckless but well worth 20 wins in a row

Red Sox @ White Sox, 3:05PM, FOX
JohnCangelosi replied to justBLAZE's topic in 2009 Season in Review
Let's make this # 4 on the way to the inevitable 20 wins in a row. I'd like to see us talk a little junk out there as well as we toy with these lesser teams such as the Red Sox -
I just wanted to make a few points. We need to do the following in my opinion: 1) Get faster 2) Play better Defense 3) Manufacture more runs So here is my ideal lineup next year (knowing we WON'T sign Figgins) LF Podsednik (yes, I said it) SS Beckham (give him a chance at SS!) RF Quentin (lets hope its 2008 form) 1B Konerko DH ??? C AJ CF Rios 2B Ramirez 3B Viciedo The question marks are: Who will we play as DH, and if Viciedo will be ready at 3B both offensively and defensively. I still see a SLOW 4-6, but overall speedier ballclub here. I know a lot of people want to trade Ramirez but I think he is a decent defensive second baseman (and horrible SS). With the numbers he puts up he is a bargain at 1 million per year, we just need to get him at a position he can handle, and 2B appears to be it. Who will leadoff? Who will DH? and Who will play 3rd? These are my questions. I think overall the pitching situation is fine (I'd like to see some more arms in the pen, however). Thoughts?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 05:16 PM) Think Stone is still bitter about his Cubs break up? The Cubs fan sitting next to me was talking about Soriano. I said the best the Sox could do to match that is Rios. One thing I noticed watching Prancer get hung up between 2nd and 3rd in the first inning. Is there a worse baserunner who has stole 70 bases in a season in major league history than Scott Podsednik? He is a bad baserunner, but his stick has been REALLY impressive all year. I wonder what kind of offers he will get in the offseason. I really don't understand the "trade Alexei" crew on this board. How many middle infielders who hit .280 20 and 80 rbi's with 15-20 steals can you get for ONE MILLION per season? Granted, he has sucked at SS. Lets move him back to 2B and put Becks at SS and give Viciedo a shot at 3B... We still need a leadoff hitter next year, and I have to say I would consider resigning Pods??? Who else do we have? Rios?

Ozzie's decision making is terrible, easiest thing that comes to mind is leaving in Linebrink against the Cubs at Wrigley this year. Undefendable. But I like his spirit and the fact he is the boss. We just need to get a good bench coach next to him that can make his decisions for him LOL

Congrats White Sox on reaching 100 errors already
JohnCangelosi replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Guys, I see absolutely NO WAY we trade Alexei in the offseason. No way. The reason is the guy seems to be a .275 20 and 80 guy in the MIDDLE INFIELD making only ONE MILLION per year. How much would we pay for this production at the middle infield in the market? We need guys like this to offset the big contracts of Rios, Peavy, Paulie, etc. This guy is a bargain. That said, I agree, move AR back to 2B (I thought he was above average there last year) and Beckham to SS. Dye to DH and get another outfielder. 3B to be decided My .02 -
I think KW has to be a bit worried about Rios so far. He has shown us nothing and appears to be living up to his underachiever billing. And on another note, is it just me or is our bullpen just collapsing over the past few months?

GAME THREAD: Sox (63-61) @ Sawx (70-53), 6:10pm CT

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) Disgraceful. This is one of the many reasons why we will not make the playoffs. To me it's our defense (or lack thereof). If Jose can pickup a ground ball, it's still a 4-1 ballgame. Hawk is dreadful to listen to tonight, but to be expected -
Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) Very glad that my scenario of about an hour ago is totally wrong! Woo ! Where does he bat in the lineup? Do we DH Dye right now and bench Thome?? -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) Brian Simmons says hello...can't really remember Cangelosi's defense. Kenny Williams...Jimmy Hurst....Anthony Webster...Jeremy Reed also chime in. John Cangelosi was arguably the best defensive CF we have ever seen. And I am not biased. /green

Podsednik LF Beckham SS Quentin RF Dye DH Konerko 1B Ramirez CF Pierzynski C Viciedo 3B Getz 2B Thoughts?????? If TCQ is back to normal and Bacon continues to progress, this lineup is pretty hot. Of course, we can't count on Pods again can we? Or, will he get a silly offer from another team in the offseason we're not willing to match??? And yes, I know Dayan is a stretch maybe, but maybe not the way he's playing. The bottom line is I want to use Beckham at either 2B or SS, which gives us a huge advantage having a REAL 3B at the position who can slug and have Beckham play middle infield.

QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) Last season I gave up on this team in September, and they proved myself and everyone else wrong. I can't and won't give up on them, even if we lose tonight. You mean when we lose ;-) -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 07:09 AM) I dont mind if Buehrle loses a perfect game because he threw at Gomez. I really dont Classic. Yes, the bravado he exudes makes you want to run one up there right underneath his chin... -
Dwayne Wise is the 2009 version of Andy Gonzalez from 2007...a garbage player who somehow manages to make it on the roster all year batting less than .200. At least...that's what I think his name was...he was so awful I tried to block that memory from my mind....

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) It came up in the chat last night, but I have no problem with the Sox seeing what they could get for Lexi on the open market, moving Beckham to SS, Getz stays at 2b, and figuring out what to do at 3B with Nix/Fields. The Giants right now are trotting out Matt Downs at 2B right now. Ramirez would look awfully good at 2B for them, and IMO, is expendable. We would need to get A LOT for Lexi since he's only making 1.1M a year. He's a great guy to have so we can afford the Konerko's at 12M per etc....and this gives us so much flexibility payroll wise I would say it's nearly impossible to trade a guy who can play the middle infield, hit .280, steal 15 bases and hit 20 HRs. And all that for the LOW LOW PRICE of 1M per ;-)
