  1. QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) nice to see you're a sox fan and have faith in the team. How long have you been a fan since 2006 on? 1985!!!
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) We haven't score more than 5 runs in 12 games. So a below average offensive team? LOL
  3. I don't have any stats to suggest this is real, however, my opinion about this team after watching this game: 1) We're a terrible defense team 2) We're very slow 3) We're an above average offensive club, could be very good if TCQ gets back into shape 4) We have slightly above average pitching including the bullpen despite their woes of late I am not sure what this means for us, but certainly with points 1&2, we basically have no shot even if we were lucky enough to make it to the post season. Thoughts?
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) I hate when it's so obvious the completely wrong decision is going to be made, and still continues to get made. You mean like watching Ozzie make decisions on who to bring out of the bullpen when we do or don't have the lead? LOL
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) Ozzie is opening himself up to a lot of criticism if he removes Richard from rotation and Colon gets rocked in his next few starts. And you can ALMOST guarantee the wrong decision will be made here, if history gives us any prediction of future events
  6. Jenks will need to finish strong this year to have any value....and for the record, I haven't given up on him yet.
  7. If we don't win tomorrow, this season is pretty much over, unless we can sweep the Twins in their ballpark, which we all know won't happen, in fact, we'd be LUCKY to get one 1 win out of 3 there....
  8. Today was an absolute disaster, especially from a management standpoint. We got out managed, and that's just the truth. We probably get out managed more than any other team in baseball.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) Awesome...terrible hitting, terrible relieving, terrible managing. Got to split the next two, or the season could be in jeopardy. With our remaining schedule, 4 down is going to be hard to make up when they have Verlander and Jackson starting 40% of their games. This is exactly right. Another s***ty managed game from Ozzie. Can his managing get any worse??? Really. I mean, I like him running the club but he is quite possibly the WORST decision maker I have ever seen. No problem, this is not a big game, let's put in LINEY! YEAH thats a great idea since he has been HORRIBLE for about the last 2 months in a CRITICAL TIE BALLGAME IN THE 8TH INNING We'll be lucky to win 1 game out of the next 6 with this managing...LUCKY....
  10. The book on Thornton is the same as Cotts. Get him to 3 balls. Foul off a strike if need be. Then the next pitch will be a ball. Almost guaranteed he cannot throw 2 strikes in a row. Almost guaranteed. On another note, what a wonderful decision by Ozzie bringing in Liney. Could you possibly pick a WORSE pitcher than him at this stage? What a joke watching this BS is. Really.
  11. AND THIS BALLGAME IS OVAAAA...........what a pathetic performance from our offense today
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) Wow, this is just awful. No one is close to hitting the ball hard for the Sox since Dye's homer. NO LIFE in this offense whatsoever. This is a joke. Bring on Bartolo for the 8th and 9th ;-)
  13. Time for our offense to step it up. Seems like we are so fatigued tonight. We absolutely, positively, cannot lose this game.
  14. If Bartolo is out there for the 6th I will have a coronary. This game is so important and Ozzie once again is treating it like no big deal. Reminds me of that game in Baltimore last year where we started as the "home" team in Baltimore and Ozzie has this piece of garbage Horacio Ramirez or whatever his name was pitching. The decision making HAS to drive KW nuts, I gotta believe. A 6th grader could make better decisions.
  15. ONCE AGAIN, horrible management by Ozzie. He should be OUT OF THE GAME. This is a joke
  16. Bus ticket to Charlotte. 2nd class. But nice catch Dweezy! We'll never forget!
  17. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:32 AM) I swear if we f***ing lose this series I will be pissed. The Tigers lineup is f***ing awful, Cabrera is the sole player who is hitting. Their bullpen doesn't amaze me, pitching is only thing keeping them afloat. We better f***ing beat the Tigers. Let's go out there and kick em in the dick in Game 1 and ride the momentum for a double header sweep in Game 2
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 06:19 AM) http://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/33/baseba...eball_Rank.html The White Sox have climbed from 16th to 14th to 10th in "most valuable" franchises over a 3 year period. We're also tied with the SF Giants in 8th place for revenues produced. (But because we lost Pontiac and Motorola and moved our ST home, we need to pinch pennies???) I looked this up because I came across a Twins' message board today and saw this post: "Countless times,we have been told that the teams business model is to spend fifty percent of total revenue on team payroll. Forbes magazine reported revenue of 158 million generated by the team last year. That figure should equate to a 80 million dollar payroll, but instead we are at 63 million A Hording (sic) of 17 million by (GM) Bill Smith. We still have to hear on a weekly bases (sic) that the Twins do not want to spend money on this player or that player. I wish our beat writers would bring this up." If the White Sox adhered to this same approach, that would put our payroll right around $98 million, which is "spot" on I think or within 3-5 million of the actual number either way (depending on if you believe the Phillies are sending "secret" money for Thome as part of a handshake deal with Gillick). We've been speculating about being in the $70-85 million range for next year, but what's the justification for not building a dominant team and really growing revenues by dominating the division for the next 2-3 seasons...pushing attendance back to 2006 levels. With the Indians at 18th (and declining for sure heading into 2010), the Tigers at 21st, and Twins at 22nd and the Royals at 28th, now is the time to step on the necks of the rest of the division...not to cry poor and insult the fanbase. The fans are now coming out again because they have an exciting/competitive team on the field that's capable of beating any team in baseball right now...a little bit reminiscent of the 2003 season where we were average or below average for 3-4 months and then peaked late, only to be overtaken by the pesky Twins as Loaiza wore down late. I am feeling that the White Sox will definitely be making some moves and not resting on their recent laurels. I think at time JR uses his investors "wisely" by saying they need to report to them and deliver dividends as well etc. At the same time, a valuation doesn't mean s&*t on paper, you probably can't even get a loan against the shares these days from the banks. I know for a fact, as I have 25% ownership interest in a company that is worth a lot of money, but it's private, like the Sox, and in the end it won't pay the bills at the end of the day until that position is ultimately sold or serious dividends realized.
  19. What's amazing to me in looking at all of these posts is the occurrence of Harold Baines coming up at old Comiskey. In one of my first games, Harold hit a walk off 3 run shot in the ninth with 2 outs against the Indians that I'll never forget. Amazing. I'm 37, so a lot of the younger crowd maybe doesn't remember him, but to me, he was BY FAR the most clutch hitter I have ever seen, bar none.
  20. Game 1 of the World Series Game 163 Robin Ventura Walk Off Grand Slam off Goose Gossage in 1991
  21. I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but the ONLY way someone catches Kapler's ball in the 9th is if they are left handed. There is no possible way someone can make that play with their left hand being the glove hand... Maybe it was meant to be....
  22. QUOTE (Linnwood @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Only thing separating Buehrle from being the only pitcher in MLB history with two perfect games is a walk of Sammy Sosa. Very perceptive and good point...
  23. I am not so fast to throw stones at Parque like some are and will be after reading this. Regardless whether it was right or wrong etc, the bottom line is it was not against the rules when he used it. Really I don't care and don't even see this being a story, but this is just my .02
