  1. I hoped he received a $225 million extension the day he hit that walkoff in the FoD game into that cornfield. Favorite player other than Tatis Jr., peak Puig in 2013-15 and Roberto Clemente. OBP and concentration issues in the field will always fuel the fire for detractors...and not hitting 20-25 homers but instead focusing on batting average. He could legitimately put up 25/25 seasons the next 2-3 years...and do it quite easily.
  2. Illinois is bleeding population as well cable subscribers. If they don't make the playoffs in the next two years and there's no new stadium and/or Chicagoland relocation...it's going take coin flip luck they get an ownership group that can ever challenge the Cubs like the Angels got in Moreno and Mets got in Cohen in those markets with multiple teams. It will look a lot more like the A's situation...minus the almost complete desperation/exasperation. IMO Milwaukee, Minnesota, Cleveland, St. Louis and the Cubs all have better ownership groups...certainly front office teams.
  3. He seems to be getting a pass for his injuries/time off the field and all those self-created personal issues as well. By about half the fanbase, that is.
  4. The question is how to fix those divides in the clubhouse that we all know about right now. An outsider like Andrus? Cueto obviously couldn't change things by himself...
  5. Not sure who claims him. 50/50, like all the handwringing last year over Micker Adolfo. He's now Matt Davidson.
  6. 2. Illinois "For the Illinoisans leaving the state, the choice came down to moving for a new job (31%), family (30%), retirement (24%) and a new lifestyle (22%). This marked almost a decade of straight losses for Illinois, with residents looking for more affordable living. Interestingly, nearly 52% of those who left the state in 2022 earned more than $150,000 a year. Considering Illinois “offers” one of the highest combined local and state tax rates — and the second-highest property taxes — in the country, it’s unsurprising high earners are eager to set up shop elsewhere." https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/off-beaten-track-searching-better-140000055.html
  7. Burger still could use more at-bats in the minors...if nothing else to slightly boost his trade value. Long-term...with no Moncada return to at least a 775-800 hitter and he's/Burger the 2025 starter at 3B regardless of his defense..
  8. The problem here is "winning" still equals losing. It means that if Giolito continues to fall off with his stuff...they've saved themselves a bad extension. Otoh, it means getting Cease and Kopech would be almost impossible.
  9. “Man, he was as big as life. Dave was always a legend in the city of Chicago,” Jackson said. “And he was a good man for the game of baseball. If you had Dave as part of any organization, you’ve got yourself a true warrior going to war with you guys and for you guys. “That’s what I remember most about Dave when he was doing his job. He was there to let the people know the truth. He was there to be honest about the organization. And he wasn’t afraid to go ahead and hold people to task. I loved that about him. He’s going to be missed.”
  10. https://www.tampabay.com/sports/rays/2023/03/05/rays-radio-dave-wills-dies-andy-freed-stuart-sternberg/ "Before going to the Rays, Wills spent 11 years on the White Sox’s radio team in his native Chicago after starting his play-by-play career with the minor league Kane County Cougars from 1991-95. He also did radio play-by-play for the University of Illinois-Chicago men’s basketball team and assorted other broadcast work. “Dave was the classic Chicago South Sider: friendly, welcoming, big voice, big character, caring and die-hard when it came to his sports,” White Sox communications vice president Scott Reifert said. “The Chicago genes never completely left him, and he was celebrated each time the Rays visited. Dave loved baseball, and his voice and presence will be missed in ballparks and by fans across the major leagues. A sad day.”
  11. https://www.milb.com/player/austin-warner-677369 Are you SURE?
  12. On July 16th when he turns 24 he's no longer able to be referred to as a kid/wonder kid/kid wonder, lol...
  13. Are there any White Sox news items other than Clevinger? Should be updating the greatest player in NCAA women's history after Bird/Taurasi...now up 38-13 over The Ohio State University.
  14. Fisk, McDowell, Ventura, Durham, Maggs, C-Lee, Buehrle, Dye, Rowand/Thome...the only ones not run off unceremoniously were Konerko and Contreras. Stayed pretty faithful to AJ until the end, too.
  15. After Rooney and Hagin, one of my favorite radio guys and really embraced the Rays' ride when Chicago never materialized for him.
  16. Alberto has the advantage due to his time spent with Grifol in KC...wouldn't hurt to give Romy another 200-300 at bats at all.
  17. With the renewed emphasis on speed/defense/stolen bases/OF positioning like employed against Gallo in the spring...definitely has 25% more value.
  18. Eloy has to be getting 150+ games between OF and DH for the Sox to go anywhere.
  19. Not enamored with Reyes. Too streaky.
  20. Marisnick the other OF only option.
  21. https://sports.yahoo.com/2023-fantasy-baseball-rankings-top-40-third-basemen-202956405.html Moncada just 23rd at third base. Also, no ranking in Top 40 for Seby's anomalous season...
  22. Have to bank on Crochet comeback this year. Not exactly the smartest idea.
