  1. Compare payrolls...that's also because there were major question marks about Jansen. With Hendriks, not so much.
  2. Friedman knows his own players a lot better than Hahn...we already managed to flip Rodon and Kimbrel around with their options and QOs, as it should have been the exact opposite for a team only set up for serious contention through 2024. Rodon was worth the QO one year gamble 10x more than the risk of getting stuck with Kimbrel for the season. No contenders care lining up to bail out the White Sox.
  3. You can justify Kimbrel's salary as a go for it, all in set up guy for two months, even if most were not 100% on board with converting him to high leverage (including TLR, seemingly)...but it's borderline insane for a team without a $200+ million payroll capability to do so for a full season when you're STILL not addressing three more compelling team needs.
  4. I will never say a bad word again about Hahn if he gets Kimbrel for Bellinger...but that simply won't happen, even if we pay all $16 million of Kimbrel's salary, which will also never happen, either.
  5. We can't even be accused of being dark clouds as everyone has gotten so exasperated there's nobody to defend it except VaFan.
  6. Can't exactly watch Northwestern or Harvard...unless even the NIT is more important than RF/pitching.
  7. We surely created this "waiting around forever" as a result of this in limbo situation due to Kimbrel. What is it that Hawk always said, self induced? Last decade, it was Danks' contract/ineffectiveness blocking a lot of moves that was the excuse. You always go after your big needs first, starting pitchers, RF and 2B. There will always be relief pitchers, especially in this version of the sport with guys struggling to go five innings.
  8. Yermin needs to get involved now that his big league income is cut off. Do the Cubs even have a place for Conforto to play? Who are their other two starting outfielders right now?
  9. Seems everyone is already reconciled to that...unless he goes to a divisional rival.
  10. Machado and Harper are slightly different situations than Conforto...still, if last year was the closest they I'll come to all in, not sure Sox fans will ever put faith in a rebuild without new ownership and front office execs.
  11. More likely to be Cory Snyder or Steve Sax the way this off season has been trending...
  12. We should try to learn the lessons the Cubs should have from Heyward, Chatwood, Darvish, etc.
  13. But can you hold the interest and admiration of Renee Zellwegger like him...? I guess that character was written as a mix of 2/3rds Leigh Steinberg and 1/3rd Scott Boras but more handsome/charismatic.
  14. Jerry Maguire you are not, lol. I think we are still closer to the denial than acceptance phase at this point. And we've yet to be divided even further by another year of TLR's baffling managing. For now, the front office has successfully united the fan base against it at least.
  15. Knowing the White Sox, they'll convert him into a LH reliever anyway if Crochet gets hurt.
  16. Hopefully we're not saying that about Jimenez in 2-3 years. Both guys have/had the raw talent to be Top 5-10 hitters in baseball, and Bottom 5-10 fielders on the negative side.
  17. The Padres will be fine if they get the starting pitching they did in 2020 and stay injury free. The Giants are due to come back to the pack. Voit's definitely due for a bounce back, good value move. Not every transaction has to be a $100+ million move.
  18. Sano is another huge key to that team...if he comes to camp in shape and ready to play, he can make a huge impact. Can also be a DFA candidate, a lot like Ortiz when he was a Twin before moving on to the Red Sox.
  19. Depends what the Twins get out of their pitching and Buxton. In a way, letting Berrios go might have been a brilliant move for a limited budget team. With Kepler, Larnach and Kiriloff, not sure how much they really need Conforto, especially after coming under financial pressure to dump Donaldson, Cruz, etc.
  20. They're clearly playing a waiting game and hoping for an injury to a back end guy that will force a desperation move for Kimbrel for one season only. That is especially dangerous if Kimbrel doesn't start to look better...but it seems like the ship already sailed on making a big move for RF. Hopefully they at least fortify the starting pitching.
