  1. They would ask for Vera, Carlos Perez and Kimbrel for Lux…
  2. What next, VaFan? About how Kimbrel, Kelly (if healthy), Graveman and Velasquez make this bullpen so much better than last year’s unit that crumbled in LA the opening series and never quite recovered 100% from there?
  3. It would be similar to the reaction to Harrison. We need another reliable pitcher more than a 2B with only a 50/50 likelihood of making it through a full season injury or performance regression-wise. In other words, Leury and Romy +Boyd over Leury and Harrison.
  4. Of course…well, it’s good if that potential move pushes the White Sox to respond, but it likely won’t. Now Correa to Detroit would be the one quite a few were predicting months ago because of Hinch in Detroit and how perfectly he would jump start their contention window, like Lester to the Cubs.
  5. You’re forgetting what they gave up for Scherzer and Turner…
  6. Chris “Don’t Call Me Cris” Carter for The Carlos Quentin
  7. Castellanos still isn't good enough defensively...that said, we'd probably just hear the excuse at the trade deadline that they have no financial flexibility remaining to improve the team if they added $18~22 million now. Can't spend $1 if you only have 60-75 cents, etc. At least this way, Hahn has to conceive of a totally new excuse at that time.
  8. He's from Las Vegas...if he wasn't going to be reunited with Harper in Philly, and AZ clearly isn't going to be spending that money, it sorta makes sense. GREAT! THE ROCKIES NEEDED SOME (STAR) POWER 34.78% AWFUL. WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A PLAYER PAST HIS PRIME 32.61% WHATEVER. IT'S STILL THE ROCKIES, AND THEY ARE STILL DOOMED 32.61% Denver Post fan poll
  9. It was Ray Durham for Jon Adkins (when there were rumors the comp pick system was changing, just reference Adkins' ERA at the time of the trade)... 2 Traded by Chicago White Sox with Mark Johnson, Joe Valentine and cash to Oakland Athletics in exchange for Billy Koch and 2 players to be named later (December 3, 2002); Chicago White Sox received Neal Cotts and Daylon Holt (December 16, 2002).
  10. Then it really WILL be a foregone conclusion that he's gone at the end of 2023, if not at mid-season to increase his trade return (and rebuild/retool the organization) for 2024. I'd certainly/gladly take that tradeoff of losing Giolito if it at least guaranteed ONE AL Championship series at this point. (Of course, nobody would blink an eye if we somehow won it all and they let him go, it would be like the Buehrle treatment, a decade later.) Still, not even dreaming about the World Series anymore, not with TLR as the manager.
  11. I'm never going to pretend any baseball...or White Sox baseball isn't fun. But my expectations were of a transcendant team, division dominance, a near dynasty...not one looking backwards at the Tigers nipping at their heels.
  12. It's incredible what they did without Acuna, Ozuna and a number of injured pitchers.
  13. Not even close. 1990 was the most fun for a young fan, right after 2005. I might even go with the last two or three weeks of 2008, even if we were obviously going nowhere without Quentin.
  14. Go back to 2016, 17 and the Robert signing. Wouldn't you have expected more than just two postseason victories, total? Yes, maybe we are all a bit spoiled as Sox fans with two consecutive postseasons for the first time inhistory, but we just suffered through nearly a lost decade of Sox baseball. Maybe not a dynasty, but something MORE than this seems reasonable, doesn't it?
  15. Yes, as long as we can watch those two guys...without them, this team is pretty darned boring/vanilla, other than Hendrik's antics.
  16. I almost feel that more credit should go to Rodon's willingness to come back for almost nothing out of sheer desperation and familiarity over any particular front office brilliance or foresight.
  17. I'm a lot more excited about the NCAA Tourney. I really think I will eventually change my mind at some point on MLB.TV, but it's going to take a couple of months if Kimbrel is STILL on?the active roster. Or Kimbrel actually pitching like he was supposed to last season.
  18. https://www.dodgersnation.com/dodgers-andrew-friedman-talks-gavin-lux-and-future-in-la/2021/11/19/ Lux stays around as insurance if nothing else (like Vaughn and Sheets for Abreu)...Trea Turner is a FA at year's end and Taylor is going to hit his decline at some point.
  19. See Twins fans from 2001-2020...but particularly the last decade. At least they have a nice new stadium to show for it.
  20. They will undoubtedly ask for Vera and Ramos or Rodriguez as the two pieces accompanying Burger.
  21. https://www.si.com/mlb/dodgers/news/dodgers-tried-to-re-sign-kenley-jansen-before-the-mlb-lockout Just thought this was worth revisiting since Kimbrel will be foisted up in the Dodgers in these dream scenarios..
  22. I just assumed it was from TONIGHT, because some were discussing Bruce as a legit source of information...somewhat credible, at least. Ooops.
