  1. It should revert back to AAA salary after received a prorated major league salary for basically 2 1/2 or 3 months…
  2. If that was possible, then almost every player who didn’t like his team in the first 3-4 years of his big league contract would bolt.
  3. Has any player in MLB history won an individual Player of the Month award and retired in the same season? Must be a first, unless it happened during World War Two or something strange like that.
  4. Well, that and the diminishing returns in their thirties for players who primary asset is speed and defensive versatility.
  5. That wouldn’t work unless he left the sport for a minimum of three and more likely 5+ years. Glad to see you weathered the storm and that Ron isn’t retiring.
  6. Ice Road and especially Gunpowder Milkshake are watchable. The latest Statham is just okay. Infinite is borderline terrible, about where most reviews for Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins are landing Midsommar…that movie will really freak some out, picked it up on the watch list to take in totally a different genre of Florence Pugh performance. Fear Street flicks are surprisingly pretty good.
  7. The other problem is Eternals will never get a China box office date because of Chloe Zhao’s comments from about a decade ago…it’s pretty much like she doesn’t exist here, except for the under 35 generation that most appreciates foreign/indie films. Shang-Chi is non-starter despite making it as “non-racist/culturally-insensitive” as a corporate entity possibly can.
  8. Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC would be pretty crazy…can understand why A&M wants to protect their home turf. Both those programs have surrendered t.v. rights through 2025. Obviously athletes in higher profile SEC programs stand to make a bigger pie of the endorsement pie.
  9. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/black-widow-ticket-buying-suddenly-144542555.html
  10. That’s what happens when you’re not noted for your control by umpires…the anti-Grandal.
  11. Wanted to get Hamilton in the lineup I guess…Goodwin also sitting.
  12. Third was also a failure, think they might have tried the corners, too. A lot like Viciedo, in that sense.
  13. Sloth would also have the same alliterative effect…
  14. Don’t see a ball hit like that stay in the park during the summer months usually.
  15. And there’s some who want Kopech if he could go at least 4+ innings…
  16. Well, Lillian likes him since he hits left-handed, so there’s that. Cease looks pretty much in danger of giving up a 4-5 run inning. Well, at least the slider’s sorta working now.
  17. Oh, no, another TLR apology thread for his charitable contributions…
  18. The Tigers are about to just four games under .500 and could be legit threats as late as second half 2022 for a wild card spot because of how bad the Twins, Indians and Royals could all be depending on how things break.
  19. Doesn’t playing just 1-2 games per week make it even more likely he’ll get hurt trying to make a play to prove he deserves to be out there on an everyday basis? Not really sure it mitigates the risk all that much…
  20. Rutherford? That trade was complicated by the Frazier and Robertson salary dumps…
  21. Also, think it’s a pretty foregone conclusion the White Sox won’t give Giolito 5-6 years and $125-165 million… How much are we willing to give Tim Anderson when he’s going to already be 31 and hitting 32 in midseason 2025? That seems to be a really controversial contract looming, like the one we gave to Abreu…obviously, at some point, he’s going to lose a step or two on the basepaths and defensively, with perhaps another 5-8 homers added to his output. Would anyone take Berrios as a FA after 2022 (instead of keeping Lucas) because of his age, lack of TJS (or does that still seem risky his first will be due?), and then also dinging the Twins, who are going to attempt to get a bargain basement deal out of Buxton with his injury history chopping off roughly 50-60% of his potential future value? Giolito wins a World Series, the calculus changes…but then, look at what the Strasburg contract did to Washington, they had to give up Rendon. As far as Berrios goes, he’s never quite the dominating sum of all his parts…or maybe it’s pitching for a losing team this year. But we don’t have to look beyond this week to see why one might be leery of making that kind of financial commitment.
  22. This was updated for 1/2 of 2021, because Moncada outside of the Top 50 when he’s been ranked around 7-10 to a bottom of the thirties in fWAR makes little sense. Unless you assume/d the Covid-19 version was him going forward. Or they’re counting that contract on the back end as the primary fault or flaw. So the interesting one is going to be Jimenez ahead of Robert with a much lower fWAR ceiling. Vaughn’s a tough player to get a real read on until he has one full season under his belt at 1B, and coming into a rookie campaign after Covid that’s left guys like Kelenic and Wander Franco scuffling mightily.
  23. Well, that and the fact he went through a tough/er 2017 and 2018…and was a couple of years behind in general due to the immigration issues with Cuba/international players and being so talented that he developed some bad habits that weren’t exposed until he got to the big leagues (both defensively and hitting from the RH side). But look at Kelenic or Wander Franco now at .208. Vladdy Guerrero came up at a really young age and took a couple of seasons to find himself. Byron Buxton can’t ever stay on the field. Or Ohtani as well having a number of setbacks. Then there’s the all-time poster child for unrealized talent in Josh Hamilton. It’s natural for every fan to want the next Soto or Acuna, Jr…but that’s in that rarefied Top 3-5 or MVP air very few ever breathe.
