GT 4/16: Rays at Sox, 1:10 CT
Ramirez actually made a decent play there finally to not stretch out too early...

Great play at second...looked like it was getting through.

Better swing than expected from Garcia but right at LF... Harrison needs to get a clutch hit here.

Jimenez continuing to put the ball on the ground... Greg775, did you see that oppo swing to beat the shift?

GT 4/16: Rays at Sox, 1:10 CT
Prime Karkovice couldn't have done anything there with that slow time to open from the long arm action out of the reliever...but nice to see Luis aggressive and uninjured.

Phillips has a really good arm but too deep. Need some execution here from Grandal.

GT 4/16: Rays at Sox, 1:10 CT
The big problem is you have no one for the seventh in a tie game that can really rely upon...just guesswork with the pen other than Graveman. Luis in a bit of a mini slump but not striking out much and has an opportunity to wreck havoc on the basepaths.

Kind of had a feeling that was coming.. two balls that could have been strike 3 and Margot barely ticking the slider.

But he was 3/5 against Ray and didn't start in that particular game...I guess because Ray is left-handed? So basically veteran Leury's first hit of the season >>> Burger carrying the team.

Put Burger at 2B (or Yoan at 2B and Burger at 3B)
Way too early to make any assessments based on ten days of play….

Eduardo Escobar was the best possible move all along…

Houston made it to five consecutive ALCS, after all…of course they’re a bad matchup, especially without home field advantage in your back pocket.

He's literally "big." More valuable than Yermin last April. Certainly. But he would have to hit like this for 2+ months and play above average 3B during that time...which might make him more valuable to the Sox depending on Moncada's health going forward.

This pretty much sounds like the Twins with Correa, Buxton and Polanco.

They're not going to eat millions of dollars in veteran contracts this early in the season...especially with Leury having three years guaranteed. He basically is on the books for nearly the same amount as Rodon's QO.

Kimbrel with 1-2-3 save over the putrid Reds...seems like 2021 first half against AL Central again.

Why didn't Suzuki start tonight?

Yes, this was recently in the news about the Giolito extension offer and likely why it was rejected. The same week they were in arbitration over $50k.

Think it's the perfect Boras Era contract...he finishes in Top Ten of Cy Young, he bolts for a bigger contract and more years or equally likely gets it from SFG. If he gets hurt or underperforms, they're not on the hook for a 4-6 year commitment that's crippling like Danks was for the Sox. Plus they have insurance on the contract that would pay roughly 60% back with a season or multi season injury.

97-98..."just" 5 k's through 5. Still only one hit and no walks through 47 pitches. Miller, Ramirez, Kwan and Rosario with some massive numbers on offense. But that was against the Reds and Royals. 99 99 98...7 k's, through 6 surrendering just a hit and a walk, biggest surprise is only 67 pitches.

Byron Buxton is still being evaluated. #MNTwins will have more in post. Right now it’s being called right knee soreness,” Dan Hayes, who covers the Twins for The Athletic, tweeted on Friday afternoon. Rodon dealing again in CLE. velocity at 96-97. One hit through 4, just 33 pitches. SFG up 1-0.

It’s not an underpay if Paddack sucks, yet becomes increasingly expensive. They feel they can improve his offspeed offerings. Time will tell, but Pagan is nothing special and isn’t close to the same level of effectiveness he maintained with TB. If you don’t have a trustworthy closer, things can fall apart quickly…and start to cascade over to the entire pen.
