Nobody in baseball expected the Giants to even be a .500 team. Nobody in baseball can name a single Indian other than Ramirez, Bieber and maybe Karinchak. Tampa Bay or A’s could get more votes, too.
-
Zaidi, in reality.
-
SFG. Cleveland. Blue Jays. At least two of those are more deserving.
-
Ummm...if they play Detroit at the end of the season, you will still call it that, lol? Detroit played us extremely well, every game that last series was a nailbiter, pretty much. Completely different feeling this weekend not facing Mize.
-
Please recall Rutschman, haha...seems he is at least another month away from being brought up.
-
Hahn better not rest on his laurels. The division race is going to be much tighter by the end of next weekend.

Of course the Indians get Balt at home for four and then three at Pitt. Of course, Jose Ramirez is coming up. Rosario, Jo.Ramirez, Harold Ramirez. 1st and 3rd, no outs. JoseRamirez should be walked. Bases loaded, no outs...sigh. ball right back to the mound, Mariners pitcher blew the sure fire double play...overthrew the catcher, Hernandez scored.

Playing the outfield like that temporarily saved the game from being completely blown on the last out, but not looking good unless the M’s can get past Karinchak somehow. Even then, you get Clase. M’s have 16 saves, 12 blown saves....Indians only three blown saves on the year, between all their relievers. One was against the White Sox. Tom Hamilton is going crazy on Indians’ radio. Acting like it’s 2016, haha.

Thanks, Mariners. Not. 6 blown saves by their closer...most BS in the majors. Karinchak in, of course. Extra innings now in CLE. M’s blew a 4-0 lead in eighth and ninth. Came down to last strike, Rivera tied the game with a 2B to the opposite field, managed to double his season RBI total from 2 to 4. Bieber goes tmrw. Could end up as a two game swing in the standings from 5 1/2 to 3 1/2 by the end of Sunday’s action. Crazy.

103 to 100...over the Dodgers. Tied for 3rd, next two opponents, the Rays and Astros tied at +78. Good test. Looks like tmrw could end up being another bullpen game four the Tiggers. Now a 7-2 season series mark, with a 55-25 spread. So we’d still be +73 if you strip out all the Detroit games.

JP Crawford just saved the Mariners/Indians game from suddenly becoming extremely tight...great defender.
-
And how many Sox fans want him starting a game in the postseason? This hand wringing is over a team he’s 7-0 against, and has never lost to during his lifetime. What do his numbers look like if you strip out all these DET games from his career? It’s like Gleyber Torres vs. the Orioles, Carlos Lee against the Cubs or Sal Perez against the Sox, etc.

Almost feels like the offense would have shut down and called it a day with a 5-0 lead...maybe actually being in a game again will end up being a good thing. Cease recovering so far...
-
Otoh, Detroit has never beaten Cease, either...
-
Going to be a long day. Just knew not knocking the Tigers out in the first was going to come back to bite them.

Who backs up third, SS and second while Mendick is playing?
-
He wasn’t nearly aggressive enough coming down the line...and should have been able to read the kicked ball abs scored rather easily. He froze as soon as the ball was hit to first instead of moving 2-3 more steps down the line. How often do you see the runner at third have the ball thrown behind him there?
-
Lamb at least put it in play...Abreu should have scored easily.
-
Not sure how realistic Marte AND Escobar is, adding those two and another veteran RH reliever would be the best trade deadline for the Sox in ages and ages. A lot depends on how they feel about Eaton continuing to be a positive contributor going forward.

Jhan Marinez... The White Sox had initially sought the Marlins' top hitting prospect, outfielder Christian Yelich, their first-round draft pick in 2010. But after being rebuffed, Chicago settled on Marinez. Meanwhile, the managerial vacancy could possibly result in a reunion of Reinsdorf and Tony La Russa. Reinsdorf has long stated that the biggest mistake he ever made as White Sox board chairman was allowing then-general manager Ken Harrelson to fire La Russa as Chisox manager in 1986. Since then, La Russa has gone on to win numerous titles with the Oakland A's and St. Louis Cardinals, including the World Series with Oakland in 1989 and St. Louis in 2006. La Russa, whose Cardinals are making a last-ditch run at the National League wild card, is a free agent after this season. It is believed his inclinations are to either return for a 16th season with St. Louis, which appears committed to re-signing three-time MVP Luis Pujols, or retire. However, given La Russa's long-standing, close relationship with Reinsdorf, a return to Chicago's South Side, where he began his managing career in 1979, cannot be ruled out. https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/ozzie-guillen-parts-ways-white-sox-sources-marlins-swap-prospect-land-manager-article-1.959125 -

Some economists aren't so quick to declare Iowa's unemployment situation 'great,” though. 'It's going down for the wrong reason,” said Dave Swenson, an economics professor at Iowa State. 'You're losing a huge number of people from the numerator and denominator.” The unemployment rate comes from the number of unemployment claims divided by the civilian labor force. The state's labor force has shrunk to an historically low level. The percentage of working-age Iowans - the state's labor force participation rate - in the labor force is the lowest since 1977, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Between November 2019 and November 2020, one out of every 13 Iowa workers exited the labor force. https://www.thegazette.com/business/iowas-unemployment-rate-is-shrinking-so-is-its-labor-force/
