  1. Fangraphs has Ryan McMahon as a much better defender...and Frazier’s going to be a lot more expensive in terms of talent/return expected. Left-handed hitter with two more years of control after 2021. Only 2.0 combined fWAR last three years...so not nearly as costly as names like Marte, Haniger, Gallo, etc. E.Escobar would be fine as well. Merrifield will be held out for way too much to give away to divisional rival...
  2. June 13th in Iowa is the end of the PUA. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/money/business/2021/05/11/iowa-gov-kim-reynolds-announces-unemployment-benefit-cuts-pua-peuc-covid-19-pandemic-jobs/5035465001/ The Moon Family that owns that truck stop is worth at least $1 billion. Average salaries range from $9-$12/hour. Food services[edit] A number of food services are located at the stop. These include Blimpie, Wendy's, Caribou Coffee, Dairy Queen, Orange Julius, Taco Bell, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and Pizza Hut.[5] The Iowa 80 Kitchen has an extensive salad bar and provides 'home-cooked' meals. The Iowa 80 Kitchen serves 1 million cups of coffee and 90 tons of meat annually.[2] The restaurant seats 350 patrons, and a banquet room expands the total capacity by 60.
  3. I actually like VaFAN. The problem is that there's no need to FORCE or at least INFLUENCE people to feel a certain way, or to be a more positive/optimistic type of fan that meets their own unique individualistic approval. Not with a franchise that has the unique history of the White Sox. And it wasn't about VaFAN, it's about certain posters trying to mock others (wow, I like to make lists of players, that's my own thing, I don't do it for anyone's approval, it's more like White Sox Therapy) and doing it just to get a cheap laugh. VaFAN is a smart guy, but he's also smart enough to realize there will eventually be more resistance to that approach...it's certainly not going to CHANGE anyone's perspective, any more than the two political parties can present what they to believe to be is "objective" evidence to convince the other side of the rightness of their cause. In reality, those positions just become more entrenched...increasingly polarized. We see it (nearly) every single game in terms of comments about TLR. It's not like it has gotten better, even though we have one of the best records in the American League. We also have an expected W/L of 20 games over .500...it's pretty darned unusual to have a difference of more than +2 or -2 for the majority of teams in MLB.
  4. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/whit-merrifield/11281/stats?position=2B/OF Every year, for the last FIVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS, he's graded out between 2.8-5.1 fWAR (average=3.8) Positional versatility, good baserunning, fundamentals. The poor man's version of Ketel Marte, or Ben Zobrist. This year, also around a 4ish fWAR player if you extrapolate the numbers (1.4 fWAR through 60). And a cheap/er contract. He's worth a heckuva LOT to a number of playoff-competitive teams.
  5. 1919...1967? The problem is that this team won't be much BETTER next year IF IF IF we have to replace Rodon and Lynn's numbers...even if Kopech is great, we're still down ONE starter.
  6. Okay, we didn't just beat the Yankees in the ALCS, on the road for Game 7 at Yankee Stadium, lol...
  7. Adios. Should have gone offspeed to the previous two guys...at least once or twice.
  8. Let's not less this came come back to Semien and the top of the order, por favor...
  9. OH, REALLY??? Guess a two run lead in the 9th against Toronto doesn't qualify, somehow...
  10. Mendick suddenly with a lower BA/OPS than Leury...
  11. Heuer already falling off the mound in the bullpen...hasn't even gotten out into a real pressure situation. Like on the actual field of play.
  12. If he sends Heuer out there for the 8th AGAIN....
  13. Now when we desperately need insurance runs...we somehow get more Leury Garcia. Never ceases to amaze me how he's always coming up at the most inopportune times.
  14. Marshall doing a decent Rodon/Lynn impersonation...I like it.
  15. That helps. But who in the hell can pitch the 8th? Hendriks for two, haha? Or Crochet?
  16. Could/should Grandal have stopped that wild pitch???
  17. Except Keuchel starts to get hurt the third time through the order. Except our bullpen's eventually going to get exposed having to cover 3 innings to get the game to Hendriks.
  18. You mean Panik at the Disco Demolition...let's hope we get 1, if not 2 more from Keuchel. 75 pitches as we head into the 6th.
  19. The bottom of the order needs at least one legit offensive threat to keep opposing pitchers honest...
  20. Not to hear the talk around here this off-season...he was the second coming of Jim Edmonds or something (minus the marital infidelities.)
  21. He has a better arm and faster baserunner...and more positional versatility, but he hasn't been good this year. AT ALL.
