  1. Thursday game looks to be in jeopardy as well with rain predicted most of the afternoon...
  2. https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/11/09/im-tired-of-being-treated-like-this-oakland-as-season-ticket-holders-revolt-after-hiked-prices/ Or you can basically double your ticket prices while slashing payroll by trading away Olson, Chapman, Manaea, etc. They actually used to have some of the most innovative food and beverage deals in the sport.. but now seem to think they're marketing the Golden State Warriors instead.
  3. Seems he had different thoughts...still won the game despite a massive walk total.
  4. https://www.mlb.com/news/seiya-suzuki-makes-more-history-for-cubs-vs-rays Apparently not a big fan of analytics...let's see what happens after the pitchers start making some adjustments.
  5. https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/209185/ UDFA for Dodgers, but his entire minor league career was spent developing with Houston.
  6. It’s a cross between a wage-price spiral and wage inflation spiral. The problem is that if wages for average or middle class workers don’t keep up with inflation…and they never do…there will inevitably be less demand from those consumers as price elastic goods become more wants than necessities. Essentially, the White Sox have always bet on their Top 20% of fans (the ones that go to the most games and tend to have more discretionary income as corporate and individual season ticket holders) making up for any “losses” in terms of diminished spending from the bottom 80% of Sox fans. In other words, a wealth tax or surcharge on the best Sox fans…at least those willing to spend the most money on the product. Which has nothing to do with economists who work for the government, universities or think tanks/NGO’s.
  7. Sounds like a Two for Tuesday's/Thirsty Thursday minor league promotion. Interestingly, Baltimore isn't doing all that poorly attendance wise despite having one of the worst teams in baseball.
  8. So basically, best to avoid the team that has gone to five consecutive ALCS and three World Series...
  9. They won 8 of their last 11 though...at that point, too late to catch Houston.
  10. Suzuki on an unreal tear. Madrigal looking like the 300 average 700ish ops version of himself. Wish we would have considered Villar at least...
  11. Too bad he might single handedly keep the Cubs in the middle of the pack and prevent a Top 6 draft pick. It's the curse of mired in mediocrity (see Sox 2011-2016)...unless they try to spend their way out of it.
  12. 75% of that move up is Jose Ramirez's early numbers and extension...but their offense has been surprisingly stout, at least until they ran into SFG. But beating up on Cincy is fun!
  13. Jake Peavy comeback? Not sure he could survive in Low A...
  14. You’ve gotta fight, for your right, to Sei-ya! Btw, don’t SABOTAGE Abreu and the Sox. Signed, JC Superstar (Resurrected and currently Licensed to Ill)
  15. Or that Glasnow was out…or that the Giants had to face one of the best second place teams in MLB history, a team that finished with only one more loss on the entire season. As far as Rodon goes, he now has a baseline or foundation of innings to work from now…after that 2-3 year mess of injuries. Some are arguing he can only make 100-120 innings again, others for 140-150 and beyond. The proof will be in the pudding. Most would bet on the Gianys based on the recent success of the Zaidi front office turning lemons into lemonade on the pitching front.
  16. Well, the Twins fared a lot better than the White Sox last year in the Patriots Day early game…Dylan Bundy off to a very solid start. Ober was good as well his last time out. We’ll just have to wait and see how long Archer and Paddack can last.
  17. Why does Elon Musk charge what he does for a Tesla? It’s not because of the high labor costs of workers in Shanghai… 17-month salaries annually Considering that the employee's basic salary in the Tesla Giga Shanghai factory is 5,000 Chinese Yuan ($773), I can only imagine that anything the people who assemble Tesla cars get on top of it is highly welcomed.2021年9月21日
  18. https://blog.cheapism.com/mlb-hot-dog-beer-prices/ Hot dog and beer prices at every MLB stadium… Seems this is based on 2021 prices and doesn’t factor in 2022 increases.
  19. “Elysian Park Grill: The staple hot dog choice for all Dodgers fans to enjoy. Fans typically invest in the $33 all you can eat food options in right field plaza to have unlimited Dodger Dogs, Vegan Hot Dogs, Going Yard Dodger Sausages, cracker jacks, and more. You can also find Elysian Park Grill on the loge level at the stadium. According to mlb.com/dodgers, fans can bring outside food into Dodger Stadium during a game. All outside food must be put into a clear plastic bag that is smaller than 12″X12″X6″. You can read more about the outside food rules in that link from MLB.com.” Generally, parking at the on-site Guaranteed Rate Field lots costs $20, but special event parking rates can range from $25 – $30. Sunday parking passes could also be available for $10. White Sox Day-of-Game parking and pre-paid parking pass for the 2021 season cost $25. Dodger Stadium Parking Rates. Baba General Parking: $17 in advance and $25 at the gate. Oversized vehicles including limos and RVs are $40 in advance and $50 at the gate. General parking includes Lots 1-15 . Off-Site Parking: Lots 13 and 14 in red above cost just $5 at the gate Shocking. The Dodgers have had the highest MLB payroll for a number of years but charge less than the White Sox for most things inside the ballpark.
  20. https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance Look at the bottom 10. It's obviously early and the White Sox will eventually finish in the 12-14 range as the weather improves…but 6 of the Bottom 10 are the entire AL Central and Pittsburgh…all Rust Belt or Midwest cities that have generally struggled since the 1994-95 strike and especially the 2007-09 financial crisis. Surely the lockdown and lack of any significant moves this offseason didn’t help matters. Fwiw, Cincy will end up with this group by the end of the year as well. For Sox fans, playing those other four divisional teams just isn’t going to cut it. (Yes, Cards/Cubs/Brewers are the exceptions for so many reasons there’s no point in getting into that discussion.)
  21. She was born exactly one week after my mom in 1929. Now feeling REALLY old, for those of us in Generation X, those Seinfeld actors are kind of frozen in time and don't age...well, except for Kramer. The actor who played Jerry's father, Barney Martin, died 17 years ago just after turning 82.
  22. Cueto and Easter memories...you're really becoming quite the wet blanket. Go back to worshipping David Ross and Sei-ya Suzuki. Maybe they can finish in second if the Brewers forget how to score runs all season long.
  23. We need to merge Katz along with the Brewers/Indians strategies for developing pitching from lower level draft picks... I guess with the Sox it's more accurate to say we weren't as focused on quality of depth (continues to be a problem) and then the obvious issues with Rodon (gassed) and Lynn (not 100% physically, gassed and Astros a bad match-up), which they will also have to address with Kopech in the second half as well. We've always heard so many accolades the last decade about the quality of the minor league pitching coaches, but the results are lacking. Granted, the draft results have been hit and miss (at best) and who knows how much Getz has learned about the pitching side of things since he took over...you would think he would naturally have more insight on the position player side, right?
  24. Stripling and Gausman have been "okay," with Kikuchi and obviously Berrios struggling. Then you have Ryu to the IL. They have the name recognition, I guess? I think it's 75% hype and attention to Vladdy Jr. and the "greatest offense on turf" and perhaps the fact that Romano has seemingly settled in at closer.
