Yes, so what is it called when teams like the A's or Indians consistently outperform their predicted performance...this has nothing to do with their managers, front offices or organizational philosophies?
-
So you define good and bad only by win/loss record without considering strength of opponents? The White Sox, then, are worse than the Giants and Dodgers...? Comparing the NL West with the AL Central is not very instructive. The West is currently on track to have three playoff teams, with LAD and SDP playing in a single elimination wild card game. At any rate, every year for the past eleven seasons, the Indians and Twins and previously Tigers and Royals were just luckier than the Sox apparently. So tired about hearing this “good/bad” luck argument when we are consistently out managed with superior talent over the last two decades, with the obvious exception of 2005. Plesac and Bieber were certainly not pitching badly. And, if the White Sox can win four out of seven (a full NLCS or World Series) against the Dodgers, happy to retract.

Madrigal is All-Star caliber now? What is caliBAR?

It’s all there in black and white. “During the season” disqualifies Jimenez already. The Dodgers have been without Bellinger, May, Muncy, Knebel and Seager, to name just a few. What the Indians have done is nothing short of a miracle, considering they trail the Sox in payroll almost to the same extent that the White Sox trail the Dodgers. Without Naylor, Quantrill, Reyes, Hedges, Miller, etc., for Clevinger, who will miss the entire season for SD, they already would have been dead and buried. As it stands, they’ve lost 4/5ths of their OD starting rotation (Allen and McKenzie to ineffectiveness). They’re also without Perez, Luplow, Reyes, etc. (Not to mention payroll constraints forcing the trades of all those aforementioned names...the one impacting them the most is the loss of Santana at 1B, actually.) But where would the White Sox be in a similar situation on the pitching front...if you stripped away everyone but Giolito? The Padres are spending $40 million more, half the gap between the Indians and Sox, and have been absolutely decimated but would be just two games behind the Sox despite the NL West with two of the best teams in baseball (LAD and SFG) in the same division ahead of them. In fact, the Dodgers aren’t favored against Darvish on the road...first time they were underdogs in a game since 2019.

Hahn: Too early to know if Sox will be buyers

So you’re in favor of benching Abreu as your major piece of advice? Brilliant. -

When’s the last time they really went all out at the deadline, 2008 or 10? Don’t remember many big moves in 2012. -

The odds are certainly more in favor of Burger/Sheets than Cespedes after so much time off... -
Can’t even imagine Yankees’ fans posting this after they were swept by DET. It does push us back down into the reality zone, and away from “the best team in baseball as is” nonsense. Will be a race between Indians and Sox to get their players back. Sox should have the financial resources to blow the Indians out of the water, but only if JR signs off on it.

Predictable...except for attempting to ruin an iconic Doors song.

He’s the CWS equivalent of Jordan Bohannon. Will never go away. Surprised Emilio Bonifacio’s not doing the game with him.
-
Will be interesting to see how much Correa, Story, Seager and Baez get in FA. All with major flaws...

Well, the Indians held on in Pittsburgh. 2 1/2 gb looking likely.

What happened? Fired mid-game?

Like year, roughly half those misleading numbers came against DET and KC. And the Astros aren’t even a shadow of their former selves on the pitching front. -

WTF? Ncorgbl? Sure, let’s bring up peoples’ wives, incel guy. Personal attacks are apparently now encouraged. It’s okay, nobody cares because this game is already a debacle as is. But the guy with 670 posts living next to the Weavers in Idaho is qualified to make comments on White Sox fans. Change your name many times? Did you take out Liptak and assume his identity? -

Not showing yourself? Sure, let’s have a Zoom meeting! We can only say positive things for the rest of the game thread. Let’s see what amazing effect/impact that has on the team...certainly the good karma will result in a comeback, just like more fans praying for ND football than their opponents guarantees unbeaten seasons. -

You live up to your name. Sounds like ice cream that went bad, coming from a guy with a Bobby Cannavalle NJ accent. Apparently I knew the Sox would be losing before the game even started. OR OR OR the Mon-Thursday night games start during WORK hours in China, so gamethreads aren’t exactly a priority, lol. -

There’s nothing to be miserable about. We’re not playing well with a depleted roster and Moncada/Abreu going sideways. The schedule gets substantially easier over the next month. Being up on the Indians at least 2 1/2 after Hell Week isn’t bad. But we’re not close to a World Series contender right now, either. -

That’s not a play the majority of rightfielders make...certainly not Eaton right now. Of course, Leury tends to play way too shallow on nearly everyone. Engel, probably. -

Ballgame...best to turn to NBA or golf. Team is dead in the water.
