  1. But that parking and concessions revenue can be booked...but will not be spent.
  2. If politics were given a rest, there wouldn’t be such a huge discrepancy in states approaching 55-60% vaccination rates vs. those still well under 50%. If masks weren’t political, Trump wouldn’t have publicly ripped his off after nearly dying from Covid. Just think if he’d expressed appreciation for having received a number of experimental treatments that were unavailable to anyone else at the time? Instead, he consistently exposed everyone in the WH to the virus by forcing the entire West Wing to de-mask...even after a near-death experience that would have humbled almost anyone else. Instead, the steroids had the opposite effect, making him believe that he was invincible. We’re heading for two Americas, and with just a few exceptions, they’re trending quite closely with the preferred presidential candidates from 2020. North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Tennessee, Iowa, Nebraska, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Indiana, Florida, Kansas, Idaho and Mississippi are all Republican states. You’d be hard pressed to call Arizona anything but a conservative state as well. The exceptions are Rhode Island, Wisconsin (but see their state legislature and numerous limitations placed on the governor), New Jersey, Delaware (yes, Biden’s home state), Illinois and New York...some of the largest states by population and outlying satellite areas. That doesn’t even include the relatively conservative state of Missouri. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1109004/coronavirus-covid19-cases-rate-us-americans-by-state/
  3. The Umpire Strikes Back...are you saying it was actually intentional?
  4. Are we still allowed to make light of bullying when someone has a disability...? But yeah, he’s so bending over backwards trying to please, to be accepted as one of the guys...but that will never happen around a group of professional athletes who will at best tolerate, and, at worst, incessantly make fun of him behind his back. Hawk at least had that gravitas. It can be overrated, and be overused, but it also has its place when calling home run balls or going after umpires.
  5. All Charlotte (look at home/road splits) stats come with a stern warning not to put too much faith in them...that said, you can probably stick a fork in Rutherford.
  6. DBacks on verge of setting a new daily record, 24 consecutive road losses. On pace for 45-117, record is still 120, the Tigers or early 60’s Mets. Feels like an Escobar/Reddick/A.Cabrera trade is coming...
  7. A trick someone taught me in the Philippines, dump two regular sized M&M’s into a large buttered popcorn, makes it so much better. Haven’t had those raisins in a couple of years, much harder to find in China...have to go to a specialty candy shop.
  8. They’re claiming Southpaw brought the popcorn to them but it was a Covid protocols infraction since too many shared from it.
  9. They might want to relegate the Diamondbacks to the now non-existent PCL. Or Pecos League.
  10. In the Quad Cities, there used to be an old guy named The Road Runner who got paid by the team for every foul ball he took away from kids and gave back to the coaching staff. He was a real villain that everyone could boo, and cheer for the young kids when they beat him to a ball. Needless to say, hard to cover a whole minor league stadium in your sixties except on weeknights and day games that were not free ticket giveaways to school groups.
  11. Greg is more obsessive about concession prices (why not go after airports and movie theatres as well) than Ron with Abreu/tobacco, Poppy with Madrigal or Parkman with Giolito.
  12. Maloney just listed nearly the entire roster, capital offense?
  13. https://www.mlb.com/news/mariners-jarred-kelenic-hits-two-home-runs?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage
  14. The way everyone was talking, though he had another leg injury somehow...
  15. Montero former closer...has struggled mightily.
  16. Might need to look at Matt Reynolds for 2B. Most likely, though, a trade has to be put together...when Hahn’s not throwing laundry baskets around at home. Burger or Yermin at third? Lamb? We’ll probably get more Leury, or Carlos Sanchez.
  17. I would take an 825-850 ops, but that’s not going to happen without more homers. Feel like 2019 around 920 ops is likely going to be his peak. Maybe things will change with TA7/Jimenez/Robert/Abreu all going off around him. Feels like that’s a LONG ways off, and who knows what the starting pitching will look like by then.
  18. Cubs won’t do that. Moncada too mentally fragile for position change again. Be better off with Bryant at second, lol.
  19. Well, we could be 3-33 in last 36. Yikes. More of TLR legacy. 11-11 after Bumgarner no no, 10-44 since.
  20. That he was going to be an in season savior just like Sale in 2010...easier to draft one than pay or trade for one? Same thing drafting guys like Ring and Poreda. Should have looked more carefully at his brother’s history.
  21. Why does it seem every time we have a huge (well, larger) home crowd or national t.v. audience we invariably wet the bed?
