  1. The Indians are just crazy...Mejia has a mid 6’s ERA, gives up just 1 ER in 6 innings against staff ace Berrios after throwing 30+ pitches in the first. Now 4-1 Indians in the 8th, largely due to a key DP ball being overturned. Baldelli getting badly outmanaged by Francona.
  2. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nhl-alleged-sexual-abuse-of-blackhawks-players-was-reportedly-an-open-secret-among-staffers-205042495.html
  3. The Indians are 28-3 when leading after six innings. That's the primary reason they are still holding on at 2.5 GB.
  4. As platoon DH, but then those at bats would go to Lamb or Goodwin. Burger is at least an average 3B, if not trending upwards with repetitions, whereas Sheets is ensconced as a pretty below average corner outfielder.
  5. Jerksticks is always quick with the hot takes, but typically lacking in the analysis to back up aforementioned provocations.
  6. 915 ops, 31 FBI's, back at 3B with Matt Reynolds at second.
  7. TLR went out of his way to praise Carlos Perez during ST...fwiw.
  8. OTOH, Freeman almost died from it but managed to have a strong 2020. Not so much this year.
  9. Eduardo Escobar ironically another example like Alexei Ramirez originally written off as a utility guy as well.
  10. 16 errors, far and away major league lead. 3 strikeouts. Tried to force yet another double play throw (to make the highlight reels and ESPN/MLB Network) that wasn’t there while hurdling in the air over the baserunner. Led to a 2-2 tie at the time. Somehow managed to beat Dodgers seven out of their last eight meetings. https://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/fielding/_/position/ss/sort/errors/count/8/order/false Javy Baez (13), Iglesias, Torres and Bichette other shortstops in double figures but with more GP. Tatis extrapolated pace is for just under 50 errors, but will likely to closer to 40 due to number of games already missed.
  11. Apparently Ross Detwiler is now beyond our reach...sigh. Besides just looking at the stats, how closely are you actually following Fry? What have been his velocity readings? He was never the type of pure stuff pitcher who blew you away, especially after two TJ surgeries. Effective, yes.
  12. What has been the buzz about his defense at second base?....seems we need some recent scouting reports and/or a James Fegan deep dive. Also, does anyone know what happened with that James Beard who was supposed to be the fastest of his draft class?
  13. Ramos is limited by his defensive upside or lack thereof. Vera (not even sure he could be traded) and Burger should/could be of interest to a number of teams. Hard to imagine Stiever could be anything resembling a centerpiece. Cespedes is more wishful thinking at this point...scouting evaluations are all over the board on him. Cabrera Weaver (sp). Elijah Tatis needs to put up 16 errors to get on the big board, lol.
  14. Looks like Bieber will rest a minimum of three weeks before they decide on next steps.
  15. The problem with that is why not Heuer or Foster or Ruiz? Seems they prefer keeping Crochet with the big league team, learning on the go with Katz. One can certainly argue that a confidence injection for either Garrett or Codi would be huge, since now we're relying on Burr of all people. TLR loves his lefty/righty matchups, so Crochet over Heuer for now makes more sense unless he continues to get lit up. Medeiros is not a difference maker. Someone capable of going 3-4 innings would be more valuable.
  16. Well, they did graduate Robert, Kopech, Madrigal, Vaughn, etc. Crochet was borderline depending on how he was perceived. All that said, having a pretty barren farm system makes any moves more predicated on Sox finances than aforementioned prospect capital, or lack thereof. Need breakthroughs from young pitching and/or Cespedes-Vera-Colas. Burger has become quite interesting.
  17. Well, if Mark Teahen and Max Muncy can play second...
  18. The only way the pressure on Hahn would increase would be the Indians going out and adding to their team somehow. Or losing first place and/or wild card positioning between Houston, Oakland, TB, Boston...
  19. The only hope is that the advanced age of both TLR and JR make all-in/win now moves this year much more likely than, say, 2024...certainly no guarantees, though. We’re only averaging about 300 fans per game more than KC, and around 5,300 per game less than the Cubs. It feels like we will still get the usual excuses about not supporting the team enough to justify the spending. That said, the t.v. ratings and amount charged for advertising has to have increased by a factor of 25-50%. Guess we can call Jeff Vuck/Nationwide to verify, haha.
  20. Another key difference is those guys can play CF and are more than capable defenders. The reason Gonzalez was in there at the end of the game and almost made a really nice sliding play to end it down the RF line. Adolfo used to have the arm, but certainly not the range factor.
  21. Margot, Renfroe, Cordero, Naylor and Reyes aren’t exactly the same as Adolfo. Taylor Trammell closer, but he was a consensus Top 50 prospect.
  22. Somehow Leury was hitting .340 with RISP coming into that AB.
  23. Gamel/Newman/Perez... Must be tempting to have Hendriks go two.
