  1. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2022-mlb-predictions/ With Moncada, Robert, Lynn, Crochet and Kelly all out…this feels like a bit more realistic placement. Pollock back, thankfully. Guardians and Twins perceived to be almost equal threats for the moment.
  2. That’s actually one of the most fascinating future questions for this franchise…it better be an objective outsider for once. Theo Epstein didn’t even (really) survive a title, three consecutive NLCS, etc.
  3. The team with the best all-time record in interleague play is the New York Yankees of the AL at 144–102 (.585), followed by the Chicago White Sox at 143–104 (.579). The Miami Marlins holds the NL's best interleague record at 127–107 (.543), followed by the St. Louis Cardinals at 109–96 (.532) wikipedia
  4. Collins could neither hit not catch well with the White Sox. Like Grandal, he could take a walk. He's actually doing much better in Toronto and getting some playing time.
  5. https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance And they haven't said anything (Merkin/Boyer) that I have seen publicly, but it really feels like the season ticket base is pretty much the same as last year or even shrank a bit based on the lockout and disappointing roster additions (or lack thereof). Notice the four AL Central teams congregated together. Which means that home crowds between now and June will go a long ways towards deciding what financial flexibility (if any) they have at the deadline. If the weather doesn't improve until mid to late May, you can envision them finishing 12th through 15th...last year was 14th. Maybe the tremendous price increases across the board are offsetting. We've basically had only Opening Day and the Hendriks bobblehead doll, but that Friday night crowd against TB was under 20,000, which was a BIT surprising after two consecutive playoff appearances.
  6. They will inevitably give Harrison/Leury until at least late May, early June...if anything, they would still have Romy up over Yogurt in the depth chart. Charlotte numbers don't mean all that much, unless on the extremely high or low side.
  7. This is kinda scary to be so interested in the 30th ranked minor league system when we supposedly have the #3 team in baseball...well, it is what it is. At least they didn't start out the season like this, like losing 3/4 in LA last year. Being 6-2 game them some cushion to fall back and not be adversely impacted over the long term.
  8. Well, Ron presented the idea. It just doesn't make any sense AT ALL. You're not going to get full value for anyone besides Anderson or Giolito anyway (perhaps Cease). And executing those trades right now would be known as White Flag 2, except that team was 3 1/2 games behind a GREAT Indians' team and treading water.
  9. https://www.mlb.com/giants/team/front-office Just find SOMEONE from a team that actually knows what they're doing! If you want to stretch the budget again, go with Cleveland, TB, Milwaukee or the Braves. Probably some great minds left in the A's front office still. Obviously the Dodgers front office, as well.
  10. The Yankees did give up two runs that inning, so Cabrera wasn't too upset, said it raised his OBP, haha.
  11. Heyward's actually having a decent season so far. And Madrigal's not in the line-up today. Think he's just experimenting.
  12. If they played the Royals it would have been three (more).
  13. Wheeler would be yet another question mark on the White Sox right now with lingering soreness during Spring Training...also, looking at his workload the last two years and his early 2022 results...that contract weighing if he doesn't right the ship, etc.
  14. You (JR, not the individual poster) suck more than Angel Hernandez sucks as an umpire.
  15. Do we even know anything about Haber to say whether he's done a great job or a piss-poor one? Seriously, all of Hahn's early work (that went poorly) gets blamed on KW's influence, everything recently on TLR/JR, so what is he actually responsible for anymore? Just the Giolito and Anderson contract negotiations?
  16. Sure, if everyone's healthy...IF IF IF and performing up to expectations. But think about your suggested trades. Anderson and Giolito would be the two most obvious, and get you outstanding returns (although not like Sale/Q/Eaton in all likelihood)...Kimbrel, Pollock, Abreu, Grandal, Moncada, Jimenez, Bummer would be in that next group to be dealt. Returns would vary...but Moncada's future contract would scare away some of the small and medium market teams. So then you're rebuilding/retooling around Robert, Cease, Kopech and Vaughn??? While that might be good enough to win the AL Central, you're going to push off having a championship-caliber team by at least 3-4 years when Sox fans have been patiently waiting a decade plus. It's pretty much the situation the Cubs are in now, with their remaining cornerstone guys being Contreras (catchers fade fast though), Hendricks and now Suzuki. But they're likely a .500ish ballclub even with the Pirates and Reds in the same division. So you get MORE MIRED IN MEDIOCRITY. AND NO WAY IN HELL HAHN GETS TO MAKE THOSE TRADES AFTER FAILING TWICE ALREADY.
  17. Should have written redressing....but we are ALSO regressing, seemingly.
  18. But but but not in first place alone until May 7th last year....
  19. But we are regressing a wrong done to TLR from the mid 80s. (Good thing Harrelson isn't still broadcasting.)
  20. The Indians/Twins/Tigers...pick two of three...will both go for 105+ wins?
  21. And first month Yermin.
  22. Their odds of winning it all past October, 2023, are decreasing by the minute. TLR's presence alone is contributing to these falling odds.
  23. Royals made their first error today...then it was later changed to a hit. Twins' announcers were poking fun how a ball that Benintendi clearly dropped in foul territory the day before was a non-error as well. Home score keepers.
  24. 18 games over .500 in mid August? The White Sox would be running away with the division. That was a total collapse. This is more of a malaise/apathy/hubris/self-induced one.
