  1. I’m assuming they meant starters… And Rodon, of course, which doesn’t help the Sox much about right now. Quintana we can’t really take credit for since he was with the Yankees and Mets, pretty sure just a couple of AA starts…so give that credit to the minor league scouting group and/or Cooper.
  2. That didn’t age well…although someone else said 3-4 with conviction.
  3. Even Wheeler has been experiencing shoulder soreness this spring…
  4. Things were great under Schneider…then everything was blamed on Allen Thomas and we didn’t even draft his kid. Now where are we…?
  5. You're going to get another FG chart demonstrating Moncada's worth to the team...
  6. I know...it is kind of interesting because Balta was harping on it in nearly every post but here we are. Provides front offices another layer of protection from fanbases, too...we can actually cheer on suppressing salaries in the name of fiscal responsibility.
  7. Congrats to Balta for getting the tax threshold into every thread. That's definitely a new one for Sox fans to get used to for the next three seasons.
  8. Well, considering we just gave up on Hostetler's 1-1 and he's now in pro scouting...it's something. The gradual elimination of every single first round draft pick from the active roster other than TA7 and AV (for now). Maybe better to fully write out Andrew Vaughn in this thread...
  9. Or hitting three homers in a game...
  10. Do you really believe the top teams in the game need to get validation that “they were in on XYZ target”? The fans of those teams expect actual results, not rationalizations like “he wasn’t worth the asking price, we didn’t want to mortgage the future, etc.” Corbin Burnes and Wheeler get brought up constantly. I don’t hear the Twins promoting that Mike Radcliffe had a verbal agreement with Juan Soto’s buscones before they flip flopped to Washington at the last minute. Preller got rebuffed yesterday by the Mets and was right back at it trying to make his team better the next day. And that constant tinkering can backfire. It certainly did last year. That hunger to get better everyday and compete with the best was more hardwired into KW almost twenty years ago than it is into Sox DNA right now. Riverboat gambler mode. At least it was exciting and entertaining. Currently, just feels like we’re simply content to rest on our laurels than to do everything possible to put a legit WS contending team on the field. If anything, it would be better to say nothing about Sox efforts because it comes off like we never have the needed bullets to get anything done. That’s even more frustrating. If Manaea (granted, about as likely as Rodon last year) wins the Cy Young, the storyline will be that we were right there until the final minute and had evaluated him perfectly.
  11. Assuming, bring the key part of this sentence…and did they ever update Lynn’s injury status today?
  12. 2014 was the last time they ran a relatively high (for them) payroll in the last decade.
  13. What did I write that was inaccurate today? Let’s hear it. Will be waiting with bated breath. And what posts are you noted for, exactly? I mean, honestly, the only time I notice is your taking shots at particular posters over and over again, but I suppose that’s good if you can get some likes out of it.
  14. Maybe the goal is to have no first round picks other than Anderson on the Sox active roster. Collins, Crochet, Rodon, Burdi, Madrigal, Fulmer, so AV's days are obviously numbered.
  15. They would be against signing a Machado or Harper, trading for Tatis and drafting an athletic up the middle player in Abrams? That's the exact opposite of the White Sox approach...which is no defense and all corner players except for Anderson and Robert. And I would like a GM who traded for three guys who won Cy Young's or finished Top 5 like Darvish, Snell and Clevinger. You can never have too much pitching, after all.
  16. They beat the Cardinals 2020 in the postseason. Old guys are Myers and Hosmer, but the White Sox have 11 over 30 now, too. At any rate, Preller will go down (or up) with Tatis and Abrams and that pitching staff...the White Sox, fwiw, passed on Abrams for the surer thing in Vaughn that 2019 draft at #3, Abrams went 6th overall. But they desperately need a 2B now, not a 1B.
  17. Still think the Mets might have wanted Manaea over Paddack...we'll see if they revisit yesterday's trade. Or Hosmer to the Cubs, lol.
  18. Onion? April Fool's? Because TLR is often stuck in 2011...
  19. Well, sure. Although any starter throwing that hard doesn't tend to last very long these days. The issue was the Vaughn price tag. Also, it's hard to come up with many pitchers at mlbtraderumors for $3 million I would rather NOT have than VV. Derek Holland, maybe. Arrieta. Matt Harvey.
  20. Oops, sorry. And can we please limit the next VaFan optimistic thread for at least one week passing passing by without another calamity, first?
  21. What stopped the White Sox from spending millions in Latin America? That's not even the 1/2 of it, because Arias of the Clevinger trade might be the best one of all...now we will be dealing with him and Quantrill for five years until the next Guardians fire sale.
  22. Words Will Smith could have said at the Oscars for $500, Alex. Instead sounds like something from the Left Behind series, lol.
  23. It would help if we would actually play him in the position where he belongs, instead of converting him to Alex Gordon.
  24. Ross Detwiler. Just making some fun of your obsession with all things lefty.
