  1. At the very least, Balta’s Cane Waving Avatar Guy and George M&M’s jacket guy from Windy City Limo.
  2. Unless its your own pitcher getting hurt as you showcase him…I’m sure that with all the trade rumors swirling it is challenging to just go out on the mound and get your work in and not get at least a little amped up before your body is ready after such a kong layoff.
  3. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the season ticket base was down from April, 2020, with months of lockout talk and then this current malaise of an off-season. Pretty much all that’s missing is KW saying we have no choice but to sign relievers and utility guys since you can’t spend $1 on Conforto when you only have 50 to 75 cents, one of the most memorable quotes in recent Sox history.
  4. I feel another VaFan thread coming…seriously, he’s a good guy, quite well-informed and has the best of intentions, but most of us just can’t go there right now mentally,
  5. Albert Joey Belle, too. Or the heartbreak of losing Ventura as a player in the late 90s and then forcing him to take one for the franchise when he didn’t really have his heart set on managing…
  6. I need to do what one of my high school friends did…sent both his kids to the University of Alabama, and jumped on that bandwagon, lol. Of course, 11 years from now Nick Saban will be long gone. I mean, you can root for other teams (especially in the NL) and players here and there…but it’s simply impossible to change your favorite baseball team.
  7. Just wait until we start hearing all the whispers about various logical but completely unsentimental reasons why we can’t make 32/33 year old Tim Anderson a lifetime White Sox entering the 2024 season…that’s the next shoe to drop after Giolito. It’s Mark Buehrle all over again. The irony is that his contract from the Marlins was only $4 million more over four seasons than his previous Sox contract. But we’ll probably keep sending Grandpa Abreu out there with $15-18 million contracts on a yearly basis in his late 30s. Vaughn might never get to play his natural position.
  8. It’s the onset of the official acceptance phase. ”But Kimbrel is ranked as the 8th best reliever, ahead of Chapman and Jansen!!” Let’s prove to all the naysayers we can make a square peg fit into a round hole (especially after all the quotes from TLR at the end of the Astros’ series). Knowing the White Sox, they might end of messing up Hendriks, too. You know he isn’t going to be happy if he blows 2-3 saves in April and May and starts hearing whispers. Might as well just convert him back to starting pitcher, while they’re doing more dumb things. I honestly think Liam would voluntarily cede the spot to Kimbrel, but boy what a mess that would be if Craig flopped again as closer.
  9. Or they just looked at our past record with supplemental/second round draft choices and decided it was better not to even try…that even seems like a bridge too far, but we seem to have the same consistent philosophy about the intl. draft pool money on a yearly basis.
  10. At the very least, you have the pick back in compensation for Rodon and that money to spend as you see fit… But I guess the club prefers us to believe they agreed NOT to attach it out of the goodness of JR’s heart. That seems hard to believe after how we abused Carlos all season long. I’m shocked that Boras didn’t make any noise about it, but the SFG contract must have been enough to get over it.
  11. Does anyone follow Lucas’ dad on social media? Wonder what he has to say?
  12. I guess JR is also against Hollywood and “coastal elites” from Harvard Westlake. Did he have a film investment that went bad, lol?
  13. You’re assuming we don’t extend Kimbrel in order to further prove we won that trade…
  14. https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-titles-parades-carlos-correa-marc-andre-fleury-zadarius-smith-lavelle-neal/600158471/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=twins • Neal: Confetti ready? Team upgrades could make Minnesota a place for parades I’ll take headlines not written in the Chicago papers over the acquisitions of Harrison and middle relievers for $500, Alex.
  15. Giants are the other obvious team to fall back, especially if Rodon can’t go more than 100 innings.

  17. Cliff Politte
  18. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/astros/article/Astros-exploring-benefits-of-yoga-5497114.php Dates back to his days with the Astros...
  19. He's really scheduled to pitch tmrw? That will be worth at least thirty or forty pages if he mysteriously gets pulled.
  20. Try writing messages to Rick Hahn/Brooks Boyer/JR like one of our current posters (although I think he actually wrote traditional mails via USPS). Back then (mid 90's), it was really cool to get back the insightful responses from GM's with an actual signature and their admin assistant's initials.
  21. The first time I started reading about him, Jeremy Reed immediately came to mind. Different players, different eras...hopefully for the city of Seattle and their 20 something year absence from the playoffs they can get things 100% turned around this season, instead of coming up just short.
  22. Yep. Bonus points for the Celine Hoodie and that hat. Does anyone know where you can find/buy that...? My Barons' cap from 2019 is looking a bit like the Bobby Jenks 2005-2008 mid-to-late August salt-encrusted version these days.
  23. If last year was the Lucas throwing 94-97, touching 98 that we saw more consistently in 2019/20, then I think they would be giving it more serious thought. Maybe they are, but the fact of the matter is that they're going to be a lot more conservative with Giolito, Cease and Kopech with their TJ histories. The only recent extension for a nearly home-grown player is John Danks, and that was seemingly ages ago. Since then, everything has been limited to three years, and you know Giolito and his agent/family will be looking at 4-5 year deals (at a minimum) if he continues his success in the 2022/23 seasons. I guess there was a report out this spring already that he'd bulked/beefed up and was already throwing quite hard...although I remember we saw that in a previous spring and then he was 91-94 for the seemingly the first half of the following season. Not sure if that was last year or my memory is now failing me.
  24. "Over the span of two days, the Braves signed McHugh and fellow Gwinnett County native Matt Olson to deals. McHugh agreed to a 2-year, $10 million contract to return home to Atlanta. McHugh said the first call he made was to his wife and then his mother." 5 days ago. Lost out to the Wheeler Wife Effect...a different variation.
  25. "What are you doin' Hahn?"
