  1. NO FREAKIN' WAY THAT WAS A BALL. Poetic justice, Mendick steals the hit against Hernandez after he was struck out already.
  2. Jamie Moyer SLIDER SPEED BAT. Or Fat-o-lo Colon. Well, that's 0/11 now for Collins. Welcome Thad Bosley, and your 39+ years of Sox support under the Jerry Reinsdorf Regime.
  3. Rifled into CF by Mendick, who's having a very nice week so far.
  4. That was INSIDE....to Leury, it had some comeback tail, but still. Oh, well, fine, faster game as long as it's called that way for both teams. Ton of movement on his pitches...movement >>> VELO.
  5. Indians had scored 19 consecutive runs against CINCY, 23 inning scoreless streak for the pitchers until that first inning run.
  6. Nice pick by the kid down the 1b line....put him in LF!!! Strike 2, he went. Another 0-2 count. Put him away. Just inside, couldn't get the frame. Great play by Yoan, didn't even bother trying to go home, knew he had a slow runner in Leon (probably from his Boston days together with him.)
  7. What did that dude say? Something snarky? First 0-2 count on the night for Cease. Mercado scuffling. Pure filth on the black. NASTY.
  8. Well, there goes the REBUILD. LOL. Joking. I remember back in the day watching Glavine, Avery and Smoltz all struggle their first few seasons in the big leagues. Then everything suddenly clicked, together.
  9. Cease needs to fix his fastball mechanics. Keeps yanking it to the left. Pulling across his body a bit. Can't pitch from behind or 3-2 against MLB hitters and survive, even at 97-99.
  10. If we end up trading Vaughn to keep Grandpa Abreu around.... Can't keep putting the leadoff hitter on base every inning. Just trust your stuff and throw it across the damned plate. Reyes has MASSIVE power.
  11. The way things have been going, you didn't expect to score one...now hitting under .100 with RISP over the last 2+ games.
  12. Really wish Moncada was a little bit more aggressive on the basepaths....might have been able to get to 2nd base and avoid the DP ball situation. That said, it's also likely to get him injured with all his hammy problems the last 2-3 years.
  13. Abreu fishing...spoiled it. Just trying to put it in play, avoid the DP ball, he's one of the best at situational hitting on the team. OOOOPS. Spoke too soon. Bring up Vaughn, lol.
  14. Thought that was CoCo Crisp in CF for a second, haha. Civale out of sorts to start off, need to put up some runs here. 3-0 to Moncada. Clipped the top of the zone, taking all the way. Second strike was inside, but framed well. First thought, Robert's going to try for home and run through the stop sign, lol. This dude is like a crafty lefthander in a RHPer's body.
  15. Civale shaking off his catcher quite a bit trying to figure out the way to get 3 strikes on ROBERT. Okay, IF YOU STEAL, DON'T LOOK BACK, DON'T PASS GO. Just run, Forest, run.
  16. Nice change-up there to Lindor at 2-1. Best pitch so far tonight. Tailor-made double play ball. Inning over. Cease has the perfect differential between FB and offspeed stuff tonight, about 15 mph. Anything over 10-12 is optimal. Seems like every season Collins starts off on a rough patch, lol. Or he just isn't that good. Not getting consistent at-bats is not an easy make to make a living as a big league bench player.
  17. Cease is leaving a lot of pitches up in the zone until he got Ramirez reaching for that one low in the zone...
  18. First home start for Dylan Cease this season. Simply, don't let 2-5 beat you. Of course, you could say this about the majority of MLB line-ups, other than DET and PIT. Crazy, the Marlins are heading in the direction of being 7-1. That's got to be one of the most compelling storylines of the early season.
  19. In the end, he's going to be judged primarily on Giolito, Kopech, Lopez and Cease. Rodon's pretty much a lost cause, not much a pitching coach can do there. The bullpen performance is so hit-and-miss from year to year, you just hope you have an above average or above pen 2 out of every 3 years. It's also a bit ironic that the "leaders" of that pen were supposed to be guys like Burdi, Hamilton, Tyler Johnson, McClure, Burr, etc. They've managed to work around a number of setbacks on that front, much like the 2012 bullpen. As you might remember, all those rookies and castoffs really struggled (minus Sale/Q) the following year.
  20. https://www.espn.com/blog/onenacion/post/_/id/1357/mlb-managers-learn-spanish-to-unite-teams-and-clubhouses Dusty Baker, Scioscia, Jayce Tingler, Fredi Gonzalez, Matheny, Alex Cora (haha), Joe Maddon, Dave Martinez, Sandy Alomar, Jr., Omar Vizquel, Edwin Rodriguez...there are a lot more than you might think.
  21. www.bankofamerica.com/rally Buying the White Sox youth t-shirt for my son and, surprise, surprise, Padres (Tommy Pham) bad-ass adult one for myself. $7 per shirt donated to Boys & Girls Club/s of America.
  22. Too bad we can’t relocate him to Nashville...are they still the Sounds? And have you run into Johnny Danks out and about town?
  23. Meanwhile, Marlins 6-1 and leading MLB in win/loss %.
