Eaton isn't going to recover THAT much, because, if you'll look very carefully at the one really strong year he had after being moved from CF to RF, the majority of his increased value came from outfield assists. The same thing happened with Avi one year. Just hard to rely on that on a yearly basis. Just staying healthy is the biggest individual factor for Eaton, as we all know.

If you believe Osterholm and that the next 6-14 weeks (British and Brazilian variants become widespread)....are going to be the darkest hours and worst wave of this entire pandemic, that means perhaps no Spring Training for the next 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 months and almost an exact repeat of last year in terms of 60-80 games. Is JR that smart to game this out in a way that other teams are not, or is he just naturally conservative....time will tell how things get interpreted, if there is a collapse in the CBA or work stoppage in 2022, etc. Some teams, like the Mets, Padres and Blue Jays, are going full guns at this. Whereas the White Sox are taking their typical half in, half out, infuriatingly middling path. And still not seeing how closer was the single biggest need, though, with the likes of Bummer and Crochet on the roster.

$261 to $483 range today so far... All the other highlighted shorts are coming down a bit. American Airlines up 14% but not a massive fluctuation like GME. Up to $29 billion market cap.

On Reddit thread WallStreetBets, where calls to buy stocks have helped drive the extraordinary moves, some of its more than 4 million members reported trading platform Robinhood was now preventing investors from buying new shares in GameStop and other of the companies. Robinhood, one of the biggest of the easy access apps that has spurred the development of a huge online community of amateur traders, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Shares in American Airlines soared as much as 60%. “It does appear that it (American Airlines) may be getting caught up in this day trading frenzy,” said Randy Frederick, vice president of trading and derivatives for Charles Schwab in Austin, Texas. The dramatic jumps in the stock price of companies including GameStop, BlackBerry Ltd and AMC Corp drew more calls for regulatory scrutiny and action from commentators. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-retail-trading/american-airlines-joins-gamestop-trading-frenzy-as-calls-for-probe-build-idUSKBN29X12T

Waiting for a quote from Hahn and JR in mid-August... "we didn't exactly game plan a scenario where our starting pitchers would actually be expected to cover 700+ innings in 2021."

Rangel Ravelo is a blast from the past. Must be getting up there in years now. Guess the Padres are betting on a 140+ season going 9-10 deep in starters. Now they can still afford to take on additional dudes just to decrease the pitching depth of fellow NL contenders.

Check Melvin Capital’s board of directors....the last one I can remember like this was Long Term Capital Management Group with their Nobel Prize winners in Economics getting crushed, but then bailed out. https://www.amazon.com/When-Genius-Failed-Long-Term-Management/dp/0375758259

Obama/Epstein 2022 The funny thing here is many have speculated for years about Theo wanting to get more involved in politics, charity work or just something outside of baseball in general.

The AL Central sucks. Cleveland and Minnesota fans absolutely detest their owners...Indians’ fans have now gone through four rebuilds since the late 90s. Minnesota can’t even win a single playoff game, but no spending other than an aging Donaldson. The Ilitch kids in Detroit are the polar opposites of their dad in terms of doing whatever it takes to field a World Series contender. The Royals were villains with penny pinching David Glass of Wal-Mart fame but at least have John Sherman now. They’re the only team with fans currently at least neutral.

That ship has already sailed with Cuban and MLB, but point taken.

But they’re looking at losing Bryant, Baez and/or Contreras in the next couple of years. No Epstein, although maybe that’s a positive now in some ways. No unfettered spending to climb out of the mess. Declining assets pretty much across the board. Don’t even have Len Kasper. Your neighborhood has been gentrified/yuppified/Starbucksized. I suppose if you are a Rizzo or Kyle Hendricks fan, it’s okay, but that’s like being an Abreu or Sale fan five years ago, minus the relatively recent WS (for Cubs). No Joe Maddon cult of personality to outsell Abreu jerseys and hawk Bunny’s Beverage Depot.

But not Minoso or Shoeless Joe Jackson (don’t think he has ever take a strong stance there, or I must have missed it.)

I guess Liam Hendriks was only referring to SoxTalk discussion of players/speculated FA’s but not our collective ownership analysis and general (lack of) positivity, lol. Otoh, Madrigal’s family would be an interesting interview, how many doubters they have faced over the past decade.

But that boat has set sail over the last 3-5 years, as he’s increasingly outnumbered and isolated by the new guard of owners...

Let’s just hope half the world isn’t finger-clicked out of existence. And wonder if the guy with $22 million off a $50,000 gamble is still sitting pretty with all that money...did he get out or go truly insane and double down again? Or will legal consequences eventually do him in as he gets made an example out of by the good ‘ol boys club?

"I meet these people they call them 'the elite.' These people. I look at them, I say, 'That's elite?' We got more money, we got more brains, we got better houses, apartments, we got nicer boats, we're smarter than they are, and they say they're elite? We're the elite. You're the elite. We're the elite." "So I said the other day, let's keep calling these people—and let's face it, they've been stone-cold losers, the elite, the elite—so let them keep calling themselves the elite. But we're going to call ourselves—and remember you are indeed, you work harder, but you are indeed smarter than them—let's call ourselves from now on the super-elite. We're the super-elite.” Quote unknown, haha? Whose side would Ayn Rand and Alan Greenspan be on here, exactly?

Going by the Twins’ twenty year history, the odds here aren’t great...of getting past the divisional series.
