Mike Lee and Thom Tillis, who's in the middle of a huge re-election battle in NC. Not to mention impact on potential SC hearings.

But the government or municipalities regulate DUI's, seat belts, speeding, food and drug safety, protecting us from environmental harms/negative externalities. Why would the scientists, FDA and CDC (compared to politicians) have LESS %3

Because they finish 1/2 in the AL or Lynn starts over Keuchel somehow? Still not sure how that changes Bassitt's start?

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Jamie Seidelnews.com.au America’s doomsday planes are in the air following news that the nation’s commander-in-chief, President Donald Trump, has COVID-19. Two US Navy E-6B Mercury nuclear war command posts were observed in flight Friday, one on each coast of the United States. They were initiating the “Take Charge and Move Out” (TACAMO) defence protocol – essentially dispersing the command and communications facilities needed to control the US nuclear arsenal. These aircraft are activated by the Pentagon when it is deemed necessary to communicate with the US Navy’s secretive nuclear missile submarines, stealth bombers and missile silos. The move underscores the potential severity of the situation.

Okay, which top 6-8 market team that could actually absorb that contract actually needs a 3B/corner OF that desperately? Giants still have another year or two of Longoria?

When did the virus breach the Trump bubble? Inside a big Trump mystery Trump interacted with dozens of aides and hundreds of supporters throughout a series of widely attended events over the past week. Now his team is trying to figure out how widely the virus may have spread in his orbit. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/02/trump-bubble-breach-coronavirus-positive-425531

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/02/politics/amy-coney-barrett-coronavirus-supreme-court-nominee/index.html If they still try to jam the Coney Barrett nomination through before the election, they’re insane. Fine, they can do whatever they want in the lame duck session, only common sense can stop them at that point I guess. It’s unfortunate we likely miss the one watchable debate between Harris/Pence and likely get a cancellation of the second presidential debate at the end of next week. Putting the Biden camp, accused constantly of weakness and running away and hiding in a basement with the biggest mask ever on...in quite an interesting position, politically speaking.

Why would you attempt to trade Bryant at his lowest value unless you think he’s never going to turn things around...and just want to save money? If that’s the case, why hold on to Baez and Contreras, too?

Offseason Targets
With Mazara and EE gone...likely replaced by Vaughn, and Collins either backup catcher or more likely traded...seems you really need one more established veteran, either at catcher or a 1B/DH/PR type.

Is that even better than average? Can we guarantee Engel will play that well again?

Putting things in realistic perspective.
Colome at best a 10-15% likelihood to return as he’s a FA.

Putting things in realistic perspective.
If Crochet is out next year, that really puts the pressure on Vaughn, Bummer and Kopech, because we are unlikely to pay $10+ million for another closer with Bummer and Heuer around, not to mention Burdi. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Reynaldo coming out of the bullpen if Crochet’s out, but he just doesn’t have a consistent strikeout pitch unless he can change his spin rate and throw closer to 100. Feels like Rodon, Mazara and EE are gone, along with McCann. Mazara vs. Joc Pederson? Sincerely doubt we pony up for Springer or Ozuna. Leury vs. Yolmer vs. Mendick vs. Engel? Feels like Renteria won’t part with Leury or Engel. Backup catcher? Francisco Mejia two years ago was the best catching prospect in baseball, I’d seriously think about dealing Collins and Stiever, because I don’t think he has good enough stuff to stick as a starter but time will tell. Maybe they’d take Collins and Rutherford/Adolfo instead. In the end it really comes down to those four young pitchers (including Lopez as a reliever) and getting a solid starter via FA or trade. I’ve said all along that Garrett Richards another year removed from TJ would be one of my picks, he feels exactly like the type of salary range (plus some upside potential) the Sox usually target in FA and he’s still relatively young. Wish we could have bought low on Will Myers. I pushed this idea numerous times and everyone laughed, but he’s going to be close to a Top Ten MVP vote getter in the NL, probably missing out due to being the much less notorious third wheel in that offense.

Now he can assert that hydroxychloroquine or a new vaccine that only he had access to cured him. Or they can hospitalize him for 7-10 days in a desperate attempt to garner sympathy from voters. Only Trump is strong and tough enough to beat Covid-19 single-handedly due to his healthy diet and rigorous exercise routine. #OctoberSurpriseWagTheDog

With his new reported speed, eg. times to first or sprint speed and minus 30 pounds, it's a far different calculation.

We are mad at the wrong Rick
Giolito paired with Grandal still should give one pause. Hopefully Lucas has enough confidence in reserve now not to let it get to him.

NL Wildcard Round
Followed by another with the bat flip. No idea how they can get through another game pitching-wise, but they're making baseball interesting for tonight. And then helped give two runs back trying to make the spectacular play instead of putting it in his pocket. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30020600/2020-mlb-playoffs-fernando-tatis-jr-explodes-october-scene Jeff Passan article https://mobile.twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1311883449146527744

Sox @ A’s - Wildcard Game 3 - 2:10
Feel for Abreu. Swinging at that 2-1 pitch way outside was uncharacteristic in the 8th. Really thought he could get Soria. Knew it was going to be a tough game when we couldn't blow the game open early. Anderson played like a co~MVP this series. Lots of young players with something to build upon for next year, especially Robert. Was a bit shocked that Madrigal wet the bed so badly yesterday, but he held his own for most of his rookie season.

Sox @ A’s - Wildcard Game 3 - 2:10
Perfect scenario for Houston to play villains and at least get back to the ALCS. Oakland has a ton of holes, unless Semien and Davis can return to being legit offensive threats.

Sox @ A’s - Wildcard Game 3 - 2:10
Also kind of ironic Semien, Bassitt, Montas, Soria and Wendelken all with White Sox ties.

No team survives in the playoffs with their top 2 starting pitchers on the shelf.

Sox @ A’s - Wildcard Game 3 - 2:10
Not sure what Mazara did wrong today... came down to the intentional Pinder walk putting too much pressure on Foster and Marshall going from two outs and nobody on to the A's getting one more clutch hit with RISP at the end of that inning. Rodon wetting the bed yet again, Grandal with some more sloppy catching. Crochet gets through the third, Jimenez doesn't get hurt, LaStella drops that ball....one and only sure thing is I don't ever want to see Rodon pitch for the White Sox again.

Pitchers for game 3
But he’s just playing catch out there, he’s too young to really think about the circumstances/consequences and that he should be scared or intimidated in the face of the playoff moment, etc. That said, no, you don’t think of starting Crochet, because then you practically guarantee he will start to overthink things.
