Yermin called up, Tim to IL
Elijah Tatis. In all seriousness, between Anderson, Semien, Tatis, Jr. Carlos Sanchez, Eduardo Escobar and Tyler Saladino...not to mention Leury coming over from Texas for Alex Rios, we must have produced more SS fWAR than any MLB franchise the past 5-7 years.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
As the new school year began for some schools this week, 60 of the 101 largest US school districts had plans to start the year entirely online, while others were offering in-person classes part or full time. source: cnn.com

MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
The Cardinals received word by Saturday morning of four additional positive tests on their 58-person traveling party, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirmed. They have had six positives test total since arriving in Milwaukee on Thursday. Three are players, including the two players who learned of their positive tests Thursday. They have not been identified. Players can choose to exercise their medical privacy and will not be identified without their consent. As of Saturday morning, the team was still trying to understand the scope of the outbreak and had not reviewed or received all of the results from the tests taken Friday, a source confirmed. Here is the breakdown of what is confirmed by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and and from officials with the team: • Six members of the traveling party have been isolated from the team. They will undergo additional testing Saturday as a result of their positive tests. Four were new as of late Friday night or early Saturday. • The entire traveling party is undergoing more tests Saturday morning. • Not all of the results from Friday's exams have been reported or reviewed by the team. Once those are available to the team they'll have a better understanding of the reach of the outbreak, the condition of their roster, and whether they can advance on the next few days of the season. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/birdland/four-more-cardinals-personnel-test-positive-for-covid-19-bringing-uncertainty-to-series-next-steps/article_12a2a5d7-35c0-5705-924e-2d64a5cb2e71.html#tracking-source=home-top-story-1

MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
The Philadelphia Phillies are optimistic that their last two positive COVID-19 tests -- with a coach and clubhouse attendant -- were false positives, sources told ESPN on Saturday. The Phillies, who are a week separated from games against the Miami Marlins with no positive tests among players through Friday's testing, are permitted to access Citizens Bank Park for staggered workouts beginning Saturday. False positives would be good for Phillies because it would take the incubation period of the team's most recent exposure back to last Sunday against the Marlins, who have had 21 positive tests within their organization since that game. espn.com

Right, apples and oranges, private vs. suburban vs. inner city public schools. Only 9% of US education comes from the Federal government, it's mostly a local/property-tax driven resource.

MLB 2020 Catch-All thread
Tatis ties the game with a homer in Colorado with two outs, top of the 9th, off Wade Davis. Wow. Pham hits a 3 run homer off Davis for the lead, 8-5, but the Rockies are still about to come back and tie or win it against Yates. That would be the 4th blown save in the first 8 games for SD. Yates has gone from the most reliable closer in MLB last year to a guy who can't do anything on the mound right now. 8-5 to now 8-7, just walked in a run, bases loaded, two outs. Pomeranz in to try to preserve the win.

7/31 Sox vs Royals GT
The least likely to hit the game-winner comes through in Adam Engel. This is a game that the last decade, 7-8 times out of 10 in KC the bullpen would somehow figure out a way to blow it.

Sal Perez scares me more with RISP against the White Sox. He must have a career .350-.375 average.

7/31 Sox vs Royals GT
We'll take that one. Merrifield's too good a hitter to be doing that....much prefer he swing away for XB hit.

Speaking of sideways tilting hats, Fernando Rodney at age 43 signed. Prevented a runner at 2B there, Abreu's defense this year has been significantly sharper.

Walk seems pretty much inevitable here.

K.Herrera blames recently career struggles with the foot injury in Washington...changed mechanics, got hurt, lost his control in the strikezone. Great scouting work there.

Intergalactic probably not the music choice there by Colome. O'Hearn PH. If he reaches, Nick Heath is on as the PR. Thankfully, not T-Gore or Jarrod Dyson.

No way a veteran manager throws a rookie reliever into the closing role. Just not going to happen, not until halfway through a season. In this case, at least a month, lol. Addison Reed's the last one I can remember with the Sox.

That's the patented Engel swing and a miss that we know and love.

Lopez/Merrifield/Mondesi/S.Perez for the save. Have to get that first out, there's no way around it.

7/31 Sox vs Royals GT
MLB average is around 750-760, for shortstop, that's at least average. He faded a bit in the second half, but it was a solid year overall.

That inning went on SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long, it really feels like it was last night here in China.

Didn't realize Marshall played at K-State.

7/31 Sox vs Royals GT
Might be closing, with how many pitches Colome threw last night. Or multi-inning save, depending on what happens this inning with Marshall. Gordon and Franchy Cordero next, could see a change.

7/31 Sox vs Royals GT
Anderson was really good offensively in his rookie year, though.

Not sure how many are lining up to buy 2021 season tickets in KC. Might as well try. Their young pitching staff is coming along, and they've got an interesting combination with Kennedy, Rosenthal and Holland at the back of the pen.

Self defense survivalist swing there by Franco, who's looking like the offensive goat of the game so far for KC. ROUGH. 7 runners stranded in 3 at-bats.
