  1. And Covey allows the inherited runner to score, as predicted...like clockwork.
  2. Not too often you go from a 0.82 ERA (1/11 IP) to a 5.02 ERA (assuming the relief corps lets another run in, 8/14.3) in the span of one start.
  3. His MLB 4 seam fastball average coming into his last start was 95.9, which is a big difference from what we're seeing tonight so far.
  4. Cooper was trying to let him learn a lesson by getting his brains beaten in before going out there...seems like this is what Steve Stone was suggesting was going to be a rough adjustment period going throw thrower to pitcher. At least the loss is helping our draft positioning...
  5. He seemingly got mad and finally threw one at 96.1 MPH, which didn't have a good result, either. A little bit of a Chris Sale streak in him, there. Was he really thinking he could just dial it all the way down and be successful like Sale and Rodon have been in the past at lower velocities?
  6. Mahtook is like Davidson vs. KC, must have nearly all of his homers this year against the White Sox. 93.3 velocity on the homer, fwiw. Now the homer on a 78 MPH slider...I guess this one will get excused by coming back after a rain delay. ERA up to 3.21, should be 6 ER in 14 IP now.
  7. From the MLB.com site, seems that Kopech's velocity is in the 93-95 range this inning. Two-seamers? They're reading as four seamers, but 94.2 as the highest velocity seems a bit off.
  8. If the party can't successfully "sell" an argument because they're NOT winning the "framing" argument, then the argument needs to be reframed...as it stands, the Dems SHOULD have a 1 seat advantage (two months out, 203-202) and they've simply got to win 16 of the 30 "up for grabs" seats, 28 of the 30 of which are currently held by Republicans. https://www.yahoo.com/news/orourke-bets-national-attention-lifts-him-texas-race-151300471--election.html Beto O'Rourke...could he still become a legit 2020 presidential candidate without winning his Texas Senate race with Ted Cruz? Can he survive the Obama/rock star/Kennedy comparisons?
  9. Well, the girl has a new BMW despite being an admin assistant. They’ve taken at least four long distance vacations during the last 6 months. The guy borrowed money from the funds to pay for gambling, then supposedly paid it back. Lots of people believe it was a set up from the beginning. You do two things here...one is not buying a camper and putting him in the backyard without even a shower. Set up as a trust with a bank/law firm, but they had no right to control the money once it started getting to be more money than they’d ever dreamed of raising. Buy or rent him a house. Get him set up through the VA or private clinic with drug/alcohol abuse counseling. They bought him a 1999 Ranger and it quickly stopped running...apparently they sold that and the camper. Only heard that he received $25,000...which went to pay off debts, to his family, to drugs (the allegation of the couple, but with no evidence to back it up, which also sounds like the perfect way to have an excuse not to disburse the funds.) $400000 - $30000 off the top to GFM. 370,000 - 50000 (camper, 1999 Ranger, $25000 actually put in his hands). No taxes even considered at this point. That leaves $200,000 unaccounted for, which the forensic accountants will quickly determine was spent by the couple (car, vacations, gambling.) Just a sadder version of the Duncan Hunter story in terms of greed and access to money/power/fame corrupting.
  10. You already lost, getting into an identity politics argument. If you’re making a compelling argument that will resonate with suburban housewives, then you’re actually onto something.
  11. https://www.yahoo.com/news/couple-ordered-turn-over-funds-raised-homeless-man-105826214.html GFM has gone off the rails...you have this case, all the politicians asking for legal defense funds, Roger Stone/Strozk/McCabe...one even in the UK trying to fend off sexual harassment charges. What next, the Catholic Church soliciting for money to settle all the PA cases?

  13. If not for the conservative tilt, we wouldn’t have had Bush as president and the waste of a trillion dollars and the lives of numerous American soldiers in Iraq...a destabilization which also contributed to the rise of ISIS.
  14. And the Founders would have agreed on that amount of corporate and Top 1%er money flooding into the election process? That you could basically buy seats for yourself, and, when you got tired of government service, could make a lifetime lucrative career out of it as a lobbyist?
  15. He didn't get tossed for throwing down his bat like that?
  16. Moncada still 8 ahead of Stanton and 11 ahead of Gallo for MLB strikeout lead coming into tonight's action...
  17. Why would that possibly affect either of their decisions (Machado/Harper)? Is Jimenez (going under the assumption they actually sign one of the two) then going to agree to have his seventh year extended before he ever steps on an MLB field?
  18. Well, that officially sucks. They get the small market subsidy picks, too, which they'll probably need with the sons running the franchise more carefully from a financial standpoint.
  19. Tied for 5th with the Tigers....still have the tiebreaker due to the season series record.
  20. Sanders has been seeking additional information about working conditions in Amazon warehouses for a bill he’s preparing to introduce on September 5. The proposed bill targets not just Amazon, but also other big employers like Walmart. The bill would require big corporations to pay employees more, a continuation of Sanders’s call for income inequality, the centerpiece of his 2016 presidential campaign. “If Amazon, Walmart and other corporations won’t pay their workers a living wage, our bill would establish a 100% tax equal to the amount of federal benefits received by their low-wage workers. The American taxpayer should not be subsidizing the richest people in history so they can underpay their employees,” said Sanders in a statement. https://www.yahoo.com/news/amazon-defends-bernie-sanders-claims-workers-pay-194656831.html Bernie Sanders taking a different approach on income inequality...will Republicans actually side with corporations over taxpayers/deficit reduction? (Well, yeah...probably!!!!) Hard to imagine this NOT being a winning position for attracting independents/moderates/centrists.
  21. There's a webgem for Madrigal! Wow! Walsh tipped a chopper over his head with his glove, Madrigal sprints across second to grab it, makes a jumping, Jeter-esque throw from the hole. Got him by an inch. What a play. (Take that, Madrigal detractors/haters/skeptics.)
  22. I think we've settled the question of whether Lopez belongs in the rotation or not... Pretty amazing to hit over .300 with a 714 OPS (Torreyes).
  23. We've now entered the section of the game where the starter's ERA will balloon after beginning the inning with a batter or two and then being pulled for a AAAA bullpen replacement. Still at 96-97 mph at around 100 pitches.
