  2. Yet somehow the A’s went from the best team in baseball at the end of 2014...to one of the best teams in baseball again with just three years in between, in one of the more talented divisions in baseball. They traded Samardzja...we had three top 30 talents to help springboard our rebuild.
  3. Minaya strikes again...Miami winning, SD down by 2. Goodbye, Dave Martinez.
  4. Yet another called strike 3 outside the zone...yeah, the previous pitch was high, but clipped the top of the zone.
  5. Oops, an Angels pitcher from long ago. Yes, The Dark Knight of former yore, now a Red... Covey has never beaten the Royals in six career starts, fwiw. Might be a good thing, with the Padres lapping at our heels.
  6. Why do I have a sinking feeling our big offseason move will be signing Brian Harvey?
  7. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/troubling-shocking-americans-increasingly-crowdfunding-medical-bills-130357884.html GFM always seems to provoke emotional arguments...over funeral expenses, funeral expenses for people who died in reckless fashion, homeless vets who receive “too much generosity that should be allocated more evenly,” then you have FBI’ers like McCabe and Strozk earning $500,000 and rising for anti-Trump reasons. The biggest scam of all was $7.3 million going to Jill Stein for an election recount which obviously hasn’t occurred.
  8. 149 BA since ASB sinking towards the Mendoza Line. 6 k’s clear of Gallo, 172 to 166.
  9. Guess we get to watch another 7-8 starts from The Coven.
  10. Robert and Madrigal both with two hits...unfortunately Nick doesn’t keep the 1.000 ops...reality closer to 673. Morrison trying to give the game right back. Each team scores 3, tied at 11 going into 11th.
  11. Battle of two Rule 5 picks...Keller has quietly been a revelation on a terrible team, with a startling groundball rate and very few homers surrendered.
  12. Depends completely on the state of the Indians...
  13. And yet we’re nominating geriatric Joe Biden? He’s the best they can come up with? He wasn’t even close to winning in 1988, when he was in his prime years... Glad Reddy is on the same side as Kayleigh McEnany https://mobile.twitter.com/kayleighmcenany/status/1030496721569280000?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1030496721569280000&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Freason.com%2Fblog%2F2018%2F08%2F17%2Falexandria-ocasio-cortez-bans-reporters
  14. Did this first paragraph come from Nick Madrigal, lol...the second sounds like Palka. At least we have both extremes represented in our organization. Hopefully Madrigal will rub off on everyone else, if they’re not going to listen to the coaching staff (or Abreu, for that matter.)
  15. Yeah, you could easily break it down with “% of those called strike 3 on other hitters” and make a relatively simple comparison. There’s probably 15 of those 40 that were egregiously bad calls that no major league hitter should swing at...or could hit successfully (of course, fouling off more pitcher’s pitches is yet another area of improvement.) That leaves roughly 25 that were much closer to true borderline pitches. There’s just no way someone like Aaron Judge has gotten jobbed on so many called strike 3’s that are 5-7 inches outside the zone at Yankee Stadium...the White Sox, as a tanking team, have gotten the worst end of calls seemingly all year long, and Renteria hasn’t done much to defend his players, either.
  16. If Trump could have sustained the boom economy (we’ll throw out the fact that wages still aren’t rising for the middle class) for one more year, he would have had a great shot. As it stands now, it should dissipate around the end of next year. Suburban women and Millennials will be even more telling than African American turnout.
  17. Omar Narvaez, Daniel Palka and Jace Fry?
  18. Here you go, right along with Kipnis...exactly in the middle of the pack for MLB 2B https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=2b&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2018&month=0&season1=2018&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0 Of course, the problem is that it has been all downhill since April 23 when he was already around 1.8! Are people really saying they’d STILL prefer Moncada at 1.1 compared to a 3-4 fWAR and picking 4th-6th instead???
  19. https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2018-08-13/china-needs-to-understand-trump-s-not-alone Here we have the quintessential centrist Democrat saying we have to do something about China...and the Sanders wing has been saying the same thing for year now. So Reddy, what is the current Dem strategy against Trump vis a vis tariffs and trade? Just to undo everything Trump has put in place and let things return to their “natural order”? I’m starting to see this 2020 election in a different way...Trump isn’t smart enough to work together WITH Japan, South Korea, Vietnam (needs US protection in South China Sea), Germany, India (will tend to US side, also resistant to Chinese Belt & Road Initiative), Netherlands, UK, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia, etc. The current policy is weakening the RMB and strengthening the dollar, which is only going to widen the trade deficit or gap. On the other hand, there’s increasing pressure on Chinese leadership to back down (fwiw, the local stock market has been hammered since the fall of 2015, there’s also a huge debt overhang/shadow banking defaults galore)...just as there’s mounting political pressure on Trump due to the November elections and the specific targeting of the Trump voting states for Chinese import tariffs. I just think it’s curious the Dems themselves don’t have a coherent plan of their own in terms of confronting China...because we’re equally split (trade unionists vs. corporatists), too. Unless a better one is presented in two years’ time, Trump will win again.
  20. Not if he continues the terrible trend from the last 4-6 weeks...it’s more likely to be 0.5 than 2.5 in that sense.

  22. Nope, Fathom has pretty much doubled or tripled everyone...
  23. Ellison won his race for MN State AG quite handily. Evers was a bit of a surprise in Wisconsin to take on Walker. OR Muslim-American female candidate Ilhan Omar handily wins in race to replace Ellison.
  24. Acuna Jr. with yet another huge homer, Jesus. He’s going to get some MVP votes if he keeps this up.
  25. We can’t try anyone else from AA or AAA to close? Why not Fry...obviously for just one inning? This is crazy. Tigers’ announcers completely floored we’re trying to get Minaya to close out the game.
