White Sox picked for 24th in 2026
https://global.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46714042/mlb-2026-way-too-early-power-rankings-dodgers-yankees-mets-blue-jays 10. Detroit 11. KC 16. Cleveland 27. Minnesota Mets 12th, Phillies 9th, Cubs 6th, Yankees 4th, Mariners 3rd 30. The Rockies set a dubious record with the worst run differential since 1901 at minus-424, 79 runs worse than the 1932 Red Sox (who previously had the worst mark in the modern era). That gives the Rockies a strong case as the worst team of all time, or at least the worst since the 1890s if early baseball is your thing. While the Rockies could no doubt dominate 1890s baseball, the going will be difficult in 2026. What do they even do in the offseason? They don't have a Garrett Crochet to trade like the White Sox did last offseason, so it's probably more scrounging around for players who are blocked elsewhere and maybe finding some free talent.

most innings caught in the WS since 1924 is the craziest stat for Will Smith weren't those 9 games long? "Yet all through this rise in revenue and payroll alike, the Dodgers never slacked in scouting, development, analytics, research, medical science or any facet in running an organization. If it exists, the Dodgers are in pursuit of industry leadership in it. And doing so, they have become what some see as baseball's newest evil empire. "There's always critics," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "We're in a big market. We're expected to win. Our fans expect us to win. I can't speak to what revenue we're bringing in, but our ownership puts it back into players, a big chunk of it. That's the way it should be with all ownership groups." ..... The idea is that every organization needs to have a clearly defined set or traits, a style of play that serves as a guiding light for everything from scouting, drafting, development, free agency and the trade market." https://www.espn.co.uk/mlb/story/_/id/46808821/jays-join-dodgers-wearing-vesia-51-caps-world-series

Guerrero Jr. was the clear MVP of that series...but didn't come out with a win. Raw emotions. LA now 5/9 WS appearances (2017-25), have also won 3 of the last 6.

Season starts in Japan and then ends up with a Japanese MVP... the tv ratings in that country for G7 have to be though the roof, ofc same with Canada.

The stat that defined the game: In the past 30 years, there have been five players to pitch 15-plus innings in the World Series and allow two runs or fewer: Randy Johnson in 2001, Josh Beckett in 2003, Jon Lester in 2013, Madison Bumgarner in 2014 -- and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in 2025, according to ESPN Research. Each of the previous four saw their team win the World Series. espn.com Of course, no WS winner since the 1962 Yankees have won with a team batting average below .200, either.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46798820/jays-barger-admits-bad-read-ended-game-6-world-series “Given the situation, really fast guy at second base, I was like, I’m going to play really, really shallow and if he hits it over my head, kudos to him,” Hernandez told Fox after the game. “I fell like his pop is more to the pull side. Somehow, I was able to hear the bat broke, even with that crowd. The crazy thing is that I didn’t no idea where the ball was because it was in the lights the whole time. “Given the situation of the game and World Series on the line and how good I was hitting, I was like, ‘It’s going to hit me in the face, but I’m not stopping, I’m not pulling up.’ And then at the very end the ball came out of the lights and into my glove.” https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/world-series-game-6-ninth-042914419.html 68th percentile sprint speed from Barger...

Ki-ke Hernandez has made some great plays out there in left this postseason. Barger as the tying run simply has to make sure the ball gets down first. Springer left on deck before he could do the Kirk Gibson impression.

Scherzer I think is 41... Oldest WS starter... At 45 years 342 days, Jamie Moyer (USA, b. 18 November 1962) of the Philadelphia Phillies (USA) became the oldest pitcher to make his World Series debut when he started Game 3 of the 2008 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays (USA) on 25 October 2008. Kenny Rogers (Detroit/2006) and Curtis Schilling the others at 41/40 to win WS games.
