Five year contract extension for Hoiberg. Doesn't have to worry about going back to NCAA coaching, haha. Seriously, we'll see what Future John Wooden does in response when the pressure's really on in Boston.

Leury Garcia has already taken Tilson's spot...

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) The violence at Berkeley was planned a month ago by white supremacists https://twitter.com/RVAwonk/status/853428990970929152 https://twitter.com/RVAwonk/status/853426266615287808 https://twitter.com/RVAwonk/status/853425481970053121 Almost impossible to believe those free speech/states' rights scholars would ever do anything to deliberately provoke anyone. Bill O'Reilly, HE GONE http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/fox-news-b...ent-1202033807/ O’Reilly’s attorney, Marc Kasowitz, asserted that the host has been the target of a “brutal campaign of character assassination that is unprecedented in post-McCarthyist America,” fueled by “far-left organizations bent on destroying O’Reilly for political and financial reasons.” Fox News declined to comment on a report by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday evening that it was preparing to cut its ties to O’Reilly. A source close to O’Reilly on Tuesday afternoon said there were no exit negotiations underway, but the tide appeared to shift just a few hours later. The groundswell of pressure on O’Reilly and the leaders of 21st Century Fox started April 1 when the New York Times published a detailed report of $13 million in settlements that O’Reilly and Fox News had paid out to five women. The report sparked advertiser defections and public pressure campaigns by organizations such as UltraViolet and Color of Change. Blacklisting hundreds of innocents in a hysterical and unfounded Communist witch hunt...versus standing up to narcissistic multi-millionaire or billionaire sexual assault perpetrators, pretty much the exact same thing, historically. At least there was no Hitler reference, they're learning from Spicer's gaffe.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 02:55 PM) French election on the 23rd is going to be a big deal. Looks like momentum of the Communist Party candidate has ebbed...was really looking like a threat there recently. Atlanta Journal Constitution and CNN is calling the race a runoff with Handel http://www.ajc.com/news/state--regional-go...UrCagElSrSAyFJ/ June 20th date, lots can change between now and then, but odds at best have to be about 25% for DEMS now

Leury Garcia deserves at least 10 days as the starting CFer to see if he can put together a consistent offensive rhythm. Odds are about as high as Cleluis Rondon ending up as the next Ozzie Smith, but what's to lose? It's certainly not helping May trotting him out there, and his defense has even fallen off because of his lack of confidence offensively.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) Trump is living rent free in his head and he can't comment without it somehow relating to trump. he is not alone on this forum, or Facebook, or Twitter. That's obviously MUCH more of a concern to the electorate than the POPULAR VOTE as well as PRESIDENT OBAMA living rent free in Trump's head. Heck, SNL is living rent free in his head.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) I'm just wondering how Trump's daughter's skiing comes into play to the serious issue in NK. It's almost like translating a different language. You need to follow current events. Everything bad that has happened with this administration, it's happened from Friday night to Saturday night (Jewish observance) OR when the Kushners were out of town. For example, the first immigration/travel ban. The now infamous Saturday morning "Obama wiretapped me...bad/sick" tweet. The AHCA went down in flames when the Kushners were in Aspen entertaining Russian oligarchs and blocking traffic throughout the entire town because all three kids and their extended families were there, requiring 100 Secret Service agents and numerous roadblocks. ETC.

Dunning needs to be challenged. That's it. Tmrw we get another Giolito start, hopefully we can see some actual results of the "process."
-
Yeah, you could argue he was trying to be a "team player," knew quite well how badly he's been struggling, wanted to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING positive. That said, he's paid to drive the ball, and pick up RBI's, and trying to do something way outside of your skill set might be great for symbolic teammate purposes but is usually going to end up counterproductive.

I would love for all those posters attacking this woman's "organization" (chaos/anarchy usually isn't defined as such) and what exactly it is that they wish to accomplish that is a threat to you, the US, the world, etc. How can they be defined as terrorists? Are there members detained in Guantanamo Bay we don't know about?

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) So Miguel Gonzalez is gonna Maddux the Yankees at Yankee Stadium, huh? This sport is weird. It's not like he doesn't have a ton of experience against them, pitching for the Orioles for all those years. Of course, familiarity works the other way, too. Not usually to the benefit of the pitcher.

Thames is the bigger story, going from an MLB flameout and Korea to the best player in baseball for two weeks (Tuffy Rhodes/Chris Shelton shout outs), but Avi's having a heckuva two weeks as well for himself.

How did everyone miss on Eric Thames, btw? Milwaukee has a sharp eye, they got a ton of mileage out of Guerra as well last year.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) I am not liquid so I couldn't do it either but I'm with you. Huh? Republican presidency typically means less tax, less regulation. The market has soared due to consumer confidence as a result. It has Little to do with Trump himself but switching from Obama Admin policy to a republican (in name) led White House When war breaks out somewhere around the world, let's check back. The fear was Trump would destabilize the world, throw out NATO, befriend Russia...the odds of a significant conflict have increased significantly since January 20th.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) He had "terrible injuries." This United guy didnt. But now injured while committing a crime, either. 98% of the world and 90% of lawyers believe United was in the wrong.

Abreu is going to be painful to follow at this rate...thank god for the minors. And they really need to sign Robert.

Charlotte is pissed off after 0-7 and back at home. Lightning attack. Won't use the German word, lol...

Who would the Pirates trade, other than McCutcheon? They already traded Melancon last year, for example.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 04:29 PM) No way was this going to be easy for the Sox. If the Sox get a workout, I think they'll do everything they can to land him. Didn't they already have a private workout 2-3 weeks ago? -
The Civil Rights leaders were also terrorists when girls/children marching with them were attacked by fire hoses and police dogs. Okay, so if it's perfectly legitimate to attack this woman, then when would it not be societally acceptable? If she weighed under 100 pounds? Under 16 years old? 14? Disabled/in a wheelchair? Special needs? Imagine this was your daughter, would you still REALLY be on the side of the white supremacists/fascists? Now they're photo shopping bottles in her hand to present her as more dangerous and justify assaulting her? She's a terrorist but the others are simply free speech advocates? What does Antifa even want in terms of their agenda, if they are supposedly terrorists? I don't recall Greg ever mentioning being afraid of a random Antifa attack outside his local Lawrence Applebee's. It seems they are mostly confined to California and one well-publicized incident in DC around the Inauguration. White supremacy is less pervasive and threatening, somehow?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) This Korea thing is shaping up as an early test of Trump and the differences bet he and Democrat presidents. Trump appears to be ready willing and able to bomb Korea, which IMO is not a good idea. However I feel a vibe that he'll do something pretty radical. The Democrats IMO would never come close to pissing off china in this regard. Should be very interesting to follow this powerderkeg. It would be unwise for anybody to be visiting South Korea anytime soon. I feel like this is more serious than we're being led to believe right now. Hillary Clinton made a name for herself in China and Russia speaking out against human rights violations and for women's rights. She also advocated for bombing the airfield in Syria. That said, I think there's definitely a much more aggressive pose in terms of giving up on ultimatums and sanctions. There's finally a sense in 2019...2020, they'll actually have an operational nuclear ICBM striking the West Coast of the US. For what it's worth, Bush's policies the last 2-3 years of his lame duck term were probably equally ineffective as Obama's. Of course, you can argue they didn't start a war on the peninsula. Let's see what the Trump administration ends up choosing to do with the continued provocations. They've been so outspoken it will be hard to totally back down after all this belligerence in recent weeks.

He's very tall and rangy, but supposedly has blazing speed....you can watch an extended batting practice session on youtube, around 18-20 minutes. He reminds me of Devon White with more power, but you might not necessarily know who that is/was. Definitely will get his power from arm extension. Eric Davis is another physical comparison that came to mind right away.
