  1. Petricka has not gotten out of the gate well in his Charlotte rehab but lots of rust isn't surprising. More concerned about Nate Jones.

  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) I also don't understand his gun angle, to me if these guys had guns and not knives, the death toll and injuries would have only been higher, but NRA, NRA. See Manila, Resorts World Intl. Although supposedly many of the victims died inside rooms from smoke inhalation....that was something like 37 who died due to the acts of one person. http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/04/politics/don...eets/index.html It didn't happen. And Trump has never stopped. His quintet of tweets on London are not only something that no previous American president would ever have said, they're also are statements that it's hard to imagine any other leader in any other democracy around the world saying. They are more the statements of a conservative talk radio show host than they are of what we have come to think of as a president -- bombastic, over the top and out of context. They are, by traditional standards, anti-presidential. Which, come to think of it, is a good way to describe Trump. He is sort of an anti-president -- at least in terms of how we have always defined those terms. Trump's attitude and approach in office is closer to Jerry Springer than to Gerald Ford. He's more Limbaugh than Lincoln. What we know: Trump isn't going to stop Trumping. The only question now is whether voters want an anti-president as their president. London Mayor 'has more important things to do' than respond to Trump tweet London Mayor Sadiq Khan has more important things to do than to respond to a critical tweet from US President Donald Trump, which a spokesman for Khan called “ill-informed.” “The Mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services, and the government to coordinate the response to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack and provide leadership and reassurance to Londoners and visitors to our city. He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump's ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police - including armed officers - on the streets," Khan’s spokesman said in a statement.. CNN.com Apparently 21 still in critical condition and one missing (maybe the one who reportedly jumped off bridge into the Thames)...
  4. Moncada really in a prolonged slump now...still over 800 ops, maybe frustrated knowing there's no promotion to Chicago in sight? Certainly not playing as well as a month ago. Average now has slipped under .300 as well.
  5. Except Avi Garcia is only under control through 2019, right?
  6. We'll see if Trump sticks to "losers," probably not...
  7. Guess Volquez dedicated his no hitter to Jose Fernandez, Oscar Taveras, teammate Yordano Ventura and other Latin American players who died too young.
  8. Looks like casualties fortunately will be "limited" to a handful like the last bridge incident where four died on the bridge and then a policeman was later stabbed...also bet the benefit concert security with Grande, Bieber, Katy Perry and Coldplay was/is insane.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 06:38 PM) The good ol caulfield curse. Well, it didn't work on Volquez earlier...finishes with 6 k's, 92 pitches, tie game 1-1. Hopefully they won't send him out for the seventh, two hard hit balls that inning, pitching more up in the zone.
  10. Hit a wall here around 80 pitches...one run in, 1st and 2nd, one out.
  11. 5/1/0/0/2/6 Cruising...72 pitches, so maybe one more inning. 2.72 ERA.
  12. https://www.milb.com/gameday/grasshoppers-v...ab=,game=501022 Direct link to Hansen game. Three k's through 2. Btw, Jameson Fisher's moustache belongs in Boogie Nights Two. Or Winston-Salem.

  14. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 05:14 PM) So it's ONLY $100 billion, no big deal. Got it. You are absurd. http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/01/politics/dav...il_topeditorial Try responding to Gergen, who's actually a Republican. So if the US constitutes only 4% of the world's population but roughly 25% of GDP and 33% of carbon-based emissions, how in the hell are we not responsible for protecting the children and grandchildren of those currently living in the least developed most poverty-stricken regions of the world today??? Countries that have absolutely zero to do with the problem, but are victims of the US, China, India, Europe, Brazil, etc. So then you agree we should have even more stringent standards than Paris, even though Nikki Haley claims “We have got a president who is going to look out for the environment. It’s what we do. Its who we are. We are going to continue to be a leader in the environment. The rest of the world wanted to tell us how to do it and we’re saying we will do it, but we will do it under our terms.” (Maybe I'm missing something here, but Obama and the US were the driving force to get every country in the world but Syria to join...also, Nicaragua thought it didn't go far enough, fwiw.) She later acknowledged that the US set its own emissions targets under the Paris agreement, which is voluntary and non-binding, but blamed the Obama administration for setting goals that were not attainable (or that that harmed business competitiveness). In the excerpts of the interview released on Saturday, Haley did not explain why the US did not stay inside the accord and amend US targets. Made a mistake. $640 billion was the baseline, not increase, he only wants increases of $430 billion over five years. ONLY. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/McCain-De...1/17/id/768922/
  15. Tied with KC, will be a half game ahead of A's for worst AL record in a matter of minutes...
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 04:53 PM) We play in an incredibly offense-oriented park... Park-adjusted should tell a different story. And, other than Sale and Q, what good pitchers have we had the last five or so years? It's not like 2006 when you had Contreras, Garcia, Garland, Buerhle, Javy and McCarthy to start the year. The talent has been short, with lots of bad drafts and reclamation projects to fill in holes.
  17. http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/03/europe/londo...dent/index.html This time on the historic and highly symbolic London Bridge http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-40146916 A number of casualties, at least three suspects involved Three total scenes, including Borough Market and Vauxhall....those were stabbings/knife attacks. Likely all coordinated because of the proximity of attacks. Van apparently let out attackers after plowing across bridge. Seems at least some of the assailants have escaped.
  18. Moncada vs. another lefty. Lineout to outfield and pulled the ball to SS with runners on second and third.
  19. Volquez three more outs to go for no hitter.
  20. Knights' defense starts with two consecutive errors on Danny Hayes, taking a cue from big league team. 2-0 Buffalo.
  21. Could be worse....34 of last 35 DBacks' hitters have made outs. A measly walk.
  22. James Shields starting for Charlotte in ten minutes... Zack Collins apparently heard the criticism aimed in his direction!!
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) Cafardo with some concerning comments about some teams cooking on Q and questions about his health. He seems fine to me https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/06/cafa...p;post-id=93654 I'd be slightly concerned too if they're planning to cook him. Dad gum cannibals!!!
  24. Unless you want to blame Cooper for Q....blame Hahn, too. Holland and Pelfrey have been better than expected. The White Sox bullpen thrived actually until this week behind a back four that amazingly included Kahnle, Swarzak and Jennings. Eventually they were due to hit a wall like last year. Overused. Plus the defense has been pretty bad behind them.
  25. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=m...itting/2017/ALL The Collins k's are alarming, but an 848 ops coming into today is more than respectable. It's actually within hailing distance of Moncada and Delmonico. Still, that's the second time we took the "best college hitter" in a decade, with Beckham the first. Rodon and Fulmer the best college pitchers those draft years.
