  1. Back down into the 230’s for Moncada...
  2. How did Narvaez have a 1.5 war last year? Yikes. Might as well bring back Nieto. We now have an ideal Sam Hinkie roster construction.
  3. Clevinger looks like a cross between Loki, the kid on Slackers and Tim Lincecum.
  4. Hard to imagine trading Sal Perez at anything less than peak value...and, if they deal Duffy, they're still stuck with bad contracts for the likes of Alex Gordon and Ian Kennedy, so there's no digging out of this mess anytime soon. Soler actually has some value now...and I'm pretty sure two more years of control at least. Merrifield would be another. But that's a complete teardown, like the White Sox are doing. Trading Perez, Duffy, Moustakas, Herrera, Soler and Merrifield still isn't going to bring back nearly the return the Sox got back in return for their Big 3, unfortunately for the Royals. It's MORE likely they move Moustakas and Herrera and continue trying to supplement the "core" of remaining guys I already mentioned. Rock and a hard place, for sure. Of course, they have a huge bounty of high draft picks and pool compensation dollars available this June, but that's not a short-term solution.
  5. Remillard with 2 doubles and a homer (3) in Winston-Salem's blowout win Looks like Basabe came out of the game early. Booker had 2 outfield assists. Finally, Tanner Banks has been pitching well.
  6. That's true, but with how good Torres and Jimenez look....it feels like they might have limited themselves, where they end up in the playoffs consistently but don't win another. I guess that's wishful thinking from a Sox fan perspective, that Cubs' fans get "bored" with winning but frustrated their team's not quite as good as Houston/Boston/NYY, etc. Of course, adding a Harper or Machado could change all of that...but it would be a gamble. And no, that never stopped Theo in Boston (fear of making the wrong FA acquisition or a bad trade), so I'm not sure why it would in Chicago.
  7. Still don't see any way that Jimenez is up before September...and, at that point, they might as well wait until his cutoff point in early 2019.
  8. Giolito might be making his last major league start for a while tmrw....
  9. Another error, although technically a passed ball. Hahn and JR should be embarrassed by this one.
  10. Poor David Robertson. Yeah, that actually HURT a couple of years ago...blowing that 5 or 6 run against the Royals when we were still within hailing distance of 1st place. This is more annoying/comical/have to watch due to the “car crash/house on fire” nature of it it....to see how bad it can actually get. Isn’t that Fry’s first earned run given up this year?
  11. Fisher isn’t ready yet for AAA...but they might as well send up Polo because he’s just organizational filler at this point.
  12. Gonzalez wouldn’t be on a big league roster on any team but the Chicago White Sox this year. It’s criminal how bad he is offensively...we just have to hope he doesn’t get injured somehow, or injure one of his teammates.
  13. American Movie is one of the best MOCKUMENTARY films of ALL-TIME. Check it out...it’s a classic. (The Coven was the name of the movie within a movie they were supposedly filming.)
  14. Well, we only get to see the Sox go 0-19 against the Indians for 1 out of every 5 1/2 games over the remainder of the season. That should be fun. And they BETTER not blow that #1 overall pick in 2019. Of course, the White Sox offense just lies down and gives up without even a feeble response to that debacle of a half-inning. Ricky’s Boys Quit (in this case).
  15. I can understand Renteria trying to protect Dylan Covey, who should have been out of that inning with no problems...but he always overmanages, even for an AL manager. It’s not the 7th freaking game of the World Series.
  16. You just knew this was going to happen after the Indians coming back from 5 down against one of the best teams in baseball...they’re really tough at beat at home. I know we need more offensive-minded players at Guaranteed Rate Field, but could Hahn actually find a couple of defenders that can put up a 600+ OPS? Now the errors are basically like a virus that’s spread across the entire team.
  17. They should just sign that The Freeze guy in Atlanta who races everyone across the warning track after giving them a 50 feet head start and stick him out there in RF just for fun. It really couldn’t be ANY worse, could it?
  18. That was TERRIBLE...he runs like one of the Molina’s. Two base hit?
  19. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=151640 1b and 3b his entire minor league career....not many chances behind Zimmermann and Rendon in Washington. Already 28.
  20. Just couldn’t get past recording two outs against Allen...and then couldn’t find a pitch to put away a professional contact hitter in Brantley. Whatever the result, Covey held his own until his defense let him down.
  21. Well, the dude was struggling to put up Engel/Thompson OPS numbers in the minors...including a .169 BA.
  22. Well, between Palka, Delmonico and Skole...we have three of essentially the same player.
  23. Here we go again with the defense. Abreu really should have helped out Gonzalez, he was close enough to call him off and make that play. Skole SHOULD have scooped that ball out of the dirt, it wasn’t an exceedingly difficult ball to catch compared to most.
  24. Covey’s story gets more interesting. Was the #14 pick in the first round for Milwaukee back in 2010. The day of his 18th birthday, when he was celebrating at Six Flags with his friends...and the last day the draft picks were able to sign (and become a multi-millionaire), he was called in from his party by the Brewers to get another physical. The blood work surprisingly diagnosed him with Type 1 diabetes...which he hadn’t even realized he was dealing with his senior year of high school. The Brewers’ offer (not unlike the Brady Aiken situation) was cut from $2.4 million to $1.5 million...at the last minute, he and his parents rejected the money and he went to Univ of San Diego with Kris Bryant. The last three years before the Sox picked him in the Rule 5, he was dealing with oblique strains on BOTH sides...and he was hit by multiple injuries in 2014 as well (hand laceration being one of them). 2016, he pitched in the AFL and even started the championship game but was nevertheless left unprotected. Labored in the majors....bounced around all over the place in the A’s system. When he was drafted again in 2013, he fell into the 4th round and signed for only $370,000 with the A’s, so he lost almost $2 million due to the diabetes diagnosis, but learning how to deal with the illness in college might have actually helped him to become a better pitcher (eventually) in the big leagues, rather than struggling as a “bonus baby” high school pitcher with huge expectations as a high first round draft pick. Has gone on the DL seven times in his career.
  25. Lillian, some of those veteran bullpen contracts were eye-raising numbers this offseason...and those were just set-up guys who weren’t even “elite” in the opinions of most. It does seem like a lot of those relievers were off the board early, whereas the position players got left holding the bag at the end with no suitors. With Andrew Miller’s health concerns, he would seem to be one huge red flag. That means Kimbrel becomes far and away the #1 target, but 5-10 teams will be kicking the tires of him. Wade Davis, Greg Holland, Addison Reed, Morrow (Cubs), Nicasio, Bryan Shaw, Jake McGee, Swarzak, Cishek, Kintzler, Hunter, Neshek all got paid pretty handsomely this offseason.
