  1. They lost all the leverage when Gunnar was a Top 5-10 player in baseball last year...
  2. But a 50% improvement is amazing!!! Well, not if you invested into a Cathie Wood fund... It's all about perspective and expectations, though. Definitely more of a positive/optimistic vibe because of July/August Colson Robert Sosa and Teel despite the losing record in recent weeks.
  3. Some are going to argue that he doesn't have the same type of "playoff pressure" pitching as a swing man or mostly mop up for the White Sox. Although he's been used as the opener a few times when there were favor able matchups with opposing lefties. Some that he had the "security" of a new one year contract signed with the Sox in middle of the season. Comfort level, Chicago is hometown? "Alexander went 3-5 with a 6.19 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 21 games and four starts with the Milwaukee Brewers this season before being designated for assignment on June 1. He will wear uniform No. 70. Alexander, who was born in Chicago, has gone 20-33 with a 4.67 ERA and 393 strikeouts in 485.1 career innings pitched over seven major-league seasons with the Detroit Tigers (2019-23), Tampa Bay Rays (2024) and the Brewers (2025)." Gave up 9 r/8 er combined in May against Phillies entering with a 17-2 lead and 4r/3er as last reliever available in extras tied 4-4 against Orioles in an 8-4 loss. "He posted a 9.24 ERA in the month of May." Otherwise, 5 er across the rest of month. 4.61 ERA overall 2025 vs. 4.67 career average over seven seasons...stats normalizing?, like Bummer in ATL or Diekman post Sox? So-so at best in four starts in April/May....14.66 ip/8 er against Cincy COL Detroit Cubs, albeit 12 runs total surrendered So 21 r/16 er across just six season appearances... 16.666 ip 21/16 er 8.64 era as a starter w/ MIL and two disasters vs. Philly/Balt 67.33 ip 29/27 er 3.61 for all other mlb appearances -0.3 fWAR overall
  4. Moncada has over an 800 ops right now....on a .500ish team for most of the season.
  5. First ejection for a ballboy?, happened in Quad Cities. Had to have said something after call went against home team.
  6. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/orioles-cade-povich-second-mlb-pitcher-this-week-to-call-out-fans-sending-death-threats-170804602.html Death threats towards players/family continue to proliferate.
  7. That's what happens when 44% of your teammates are traded away. More focus on one's personal stats and future. Sure it will go over well with Twins' fans.
  8. One of the three main Chinese brands a long with Anta and Erke. Basketball has never been much of a thing in Taiwan except for Jeremy Lin, equally claimed by Hangzhou (grandparents), Taiwan and finally Harvard...but because of his Christian faith/mixed ancestry, the Chinese government tamped down on Linsanity even though much more identifiable to kids than a Yao Ming.
  9. Dodgers three games under .500 since the ASB and foundering on pitching and offense. Big change from last weekend. LA going to have to go with Alex Freeland/bench Kennedy&Conforto and hope for Max Muncy's eventual return to spark the offense. Clayton Kershaw as best starting pitcher this season was on virtually nobody's bingo card.
  10. Jimmy Butler was just here in Wuhan a couple of weeks ago promoting his shoe brand. Was traveling together with Spencer Dinwiddie. Ant-Man Edwards doing a promotional/educational tour as well...Beijing Shanghai and Chengdu/pandas.
  11. 58-104 pace... Montgomery rebounding.
  12. Only 16,998 for 1980s Sweater Vest giveaway on a beautiful Saturday. Yikes.
  13. https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask/mlb-home-runs-leaders-2025-rookies Fourth in rookie homers...Kurtz 26.
  14. Bruce Kimm was a catcher for the Detroit Tigers in 1976, when Mark Fidrych won the Rookie of the Year award.
  15. Swing/wind change aided double.
  16. 57-105 pace...where Royals were two seasons ago minus Witt Jr. and an offseason of being the #1 FA spender
  17. 21 guys with -0.1 or worse fWAR Still might not end up with any position players at 2.0 fWAR. Tauchman Teel and Sosa the best odds of doing that. Grant Taylor well-liked by fan graph s system.

  20. Payroll 29th Team Record 29th By that matrix they're outperforming TB Oak Miami. Granted, two are playing in minor league facilities, so attendance is capped well below 19000 even if those teams sold out every single game. Otoh, Padres will have recorded 58 sellouts in 64 home dates by weekend's conclusion. Good for #3 and challenging the Yankees.
  21. The Yankees are too expensive to be bad. And that hadn't happened to NY since 1932 or some crazy number of years, right?
  22. Or call it the Bristol/ESPN Bias...
  23. Kenny Williams only had a record that bad when the 2007 team spiraled to 72-90.
  24. Benintendi ended up being less expensive than both Teoscar and Bellinger after their one year deals ended. Kyle Tucker has a much stronger track record of 850-875 ops production btw…while AB had “solid” seasons in 2019/22, but the rest of it, 2018-20-21, was pretty much crap.
