How empty is Wrigley now?

Cubs-Mets (Better Team) NLCS
At this point I would not be surprised to see Murphy leave Chicago in a flying DeLorean. Mets' runs in the series=21 Cubs' hits=19 Talk about sheer and utter domination. 2008 and 2009 were only 3 game series. Daniel Murphy has six runs and six RBI in the NLCS. The #Cubs have six runs and six RBI in the NLCS. #postseason

Murphy has managed to completely steal the spotlight and hog it all for himself...along with that young Mets' pitching staff. Maddon, Bryant, Arrieta, Schwarber, Lester pretty much have ceased to exist at this point.

Surprised we haven't seen Austin Jackson's name mentioned more with the White Sox. Decent bounceback candidate....guess it depends on one's confidence in Garcia/Thompson and Melky in LF/LaRoche at DH. Would definitely improve the defense overall a ton if we could figure out a way to get Garcia off one of the corners. Of course, Thompson COULD do that, but I would bet on Austin Jackson playing CF with Eaton in RF or LF over Thompson making it as a regular player. Fowler, Pearce and Parra are some other options. We'll see.

Why did we trade Addison Reed again, haha...? At least he's doing something productive for White Sox fans to partially make up for the end of 2012 and Matt Davidson.

Mets are giving the Cubs ample opportunity to get back into this game....leaving 2-3 insurance runs on the table.

Elias: Colon would be 14 years, 12 days between postseason wins--MLB record. Record now: exactly 14 years by Milt Wilcox (10/5/70-10/5/84).

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) The Sox got a World Series from Garcia and Contreras. Yes, I realize that. Contreras was my avatar for a long time. I meant more from 2007-2010. We had Loiaza, Contreras and Garcia perform well, but not very many veterans have outperformed expectations since then. Obviously Floyd and Danks had their injuries, that's one part of it. But Shark was a complete disaster. Just frustrating Colon seemed like he didn't care on the White Sox but miraculously was more effective at an older age pitching for OTHER teams.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) I'm referring to your comment about Garica & Contreras. Basically that it has been over a decade since we've had a veteran starting pitcher come in and outperform expectations. I suppose you can count Humber as a "veteran" if you want, and that lasted only one season. I would put Humber and Gavin Floyd in a different category from guys in their mid 30's.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Yeah what did we ever get from Garcia and Contreras? Pretty sure Contreras went to the Rockies for someone never to be heard from again...just a salary dump. Garcia...??? That was after 2010 when he put up a 4.64 ERA, I want to say nothing.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) What are you talking about? Bartolo Colon in 2009 with the White Sox. Actually, a 4.19 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. Not quite as bad as I thought it was, but nothing like how he has pitched in 2012 and 13 with Oakland. It seems pitching in that stadium makes almost EVERY pitcher (see Shark as well) look a lot better than they really are...

Slight momentum shift there if the Cubs can follow it up with a couple of runs and make it interesting again.

Schwarber is almost forcing the Cubs to catch or trade him. I have a feeling they'll try catching first before selling him low mostly based on the fact that his defense in the OF has been so overexposed this post-season. Knowing/fearing it was a problem and actually seeing it rear its ugly head on the big stage are two different things for Cubs' fans.

Too bad we didn't have the 2003 version of Colon or the post medical enhancement version... We got the one in the middle who sucked, same with Garcia and Contreras at the tail end of their careers.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) Flores para los muertos. Why are we quoting A Streetcar Named Desire? Fathom will get upset if you say the Cubs are "dead" and jinx them into a comeback!

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) I heard he is going back to Detroit. The Tigers are in an interesting and probably no-win situation with that aging core of Verlander, Martinez, Kinsler, Sanchez and Cabrera. Because of those contracts, they pretty much have to be in "win now" mode still. They can't just tear it down. Of course, JD Martinez is younger, relatively...Iglesias, Castellanos, McCann, Gose, etc., but they're mostly a veteran team.

Rowengartner warming up for the Cubs. http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/10/21/...s-scruffy-mcgee Needed to score at least 2-3 runs there. That won't get it done.

Cespedes would fit in perfectly with the "golfing/country club" culture of the White Sox. At least Harrelson would be happy.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron yes RT @ColtsMetsFan125: @michaelgbaron Not trying to jump the gun, but if we win the ws would you mind if they let cespedes walk? Adam Rubin@AdamRubinESPN Thanks to everyone sending me the link to Chicago Sun-Times story about Yoenis Cespedes golfing this morning. That's really got you upset?

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) Because Schwarber is basically a 1-tool player? He has no defensive value, strikes out a lot, and can't hit LHP for s***, something we already really suck at. He has had a good playoffs but was bad the last 6 weeks of the season. Quintana is really good, I'm not trading him for a one dimensional DH. And so are LaRoche, Cabrera, Abreu and Avi Garcia. The problem is we have no lefty power threat (see Melky Cabrera, who's now more of a 2 hitter) and haven't since 2009 in Thome (unless you count Dunn from 2012-2014). Compare that to the Royals, with Hosmer, Moustakas, Morales and Zobrist (switch-hitters), Gordon (although he might be gone). On the other hand, multi-dimensional players like Alex Gordon, Cespedes and Heyward will cost you a mint. Justin Upton and Chris Davis also will, although they're flawed players, too. Even second and third tier guys like Parra or Dexter Fowler aren't cheap. Does anyone believe spending X amount of money on Parra or Fowler will get us close to .500? Let's say Cabrera moves to DH, LaRoche is dumped and Parra, Eaton and Fowler was your new OF. Still not seeing that team anywhere close to .500 with 3b, SS, 2B and catching issues. Maybe with nearly 100% health again.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) Expecting top prospects for Sale is not unrealistic, you have to pay to play and if the sox should (God forbid) decide to trade sale, they better get top prospects and not second tier prospects like you are saying. This is all conjecture garbage that favors the Cubs in the deal, not equal and and certainly not the sox. If the Cubs don't want to part with top talent for top talent, you move on, you don't give them a top three pitcher for players they don't need. And the other point about being afraid of injury and of the 2017 market is just as much crap. pitchers get injured, it's the way the game goes. You don't trade a player for fear of injury or because the market might be bad. Chris sale is a diamond chip and you act like the sox are ready to throw him on the table because they don't like the color of the chip Making the assumption they don't want Schwarber is equally flawed. It would be great if they would just trade us Bryant, Russell and Schwarber. That's exactly what most rational and clear-thinking Sox fans would suggest...so if we're negotiating in the middle, logically they have to give up Schwarber, Russell and one or two more pieces (whether that's Baez, Soler, Torres, Contreras, Edwards, McKinney, etc.). We'd probably trade them Garcia if Soler came back, and offer Sanchez/Micah to help supplement their infield depth if we took two infielders. And Schwarber would be more valuable to the Sox than the Cubs with our likely unwillingness to throw millions at yet another LH DH type in 2017 when LaRoche departs.

Not stopping at a stop sign? Really police?
Also, the idea that no prior violations gives you a mulligan, that logic is flawed. And it would lead to the police feeling even more justified for harassing those who have already done something wrong when the whole premise of America is that you should be treated fairly and equally after you've paid for your crime (sex offenders/pedophiles being a rare area where atonement isn't accepted universally). Allegations of profiling would fill up every court docket in America.

ALCS- Kansas City Royals vs Toronto Blue Jays
Price's 0-7 in 7 post-season starts versus Cueto being weak mentally and blaming everyone but himself. Something's gotta give.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Then you don't trade Chris Sale. Simple as that. Which is getting riskier and riskier every wasted season. If they're below .500 in 2017 still, you almost have no choice but to trade him because franchise revenues will be so down they won't be able to afford the free agent market. With Danks, LaRoche and Ramirez all gone, NEXT offseason has to be perfect. Tim Anderson has to give you at least an average major leaguer, and 2/4 from Johnson, Montas, Fulmer and Danish have to hit. This is also based on the assumption Courtney Hawkins won't make much of an impact. The best of the other options is Puig/Quintana...and that's also risky. That's the nature of talent evaluation.
