It Follows was a very nifty horror flick. Quite creative/inventive...seems the lower budget ones almost always are better in this genre. Mostly a film of mood...ambience, psychological rather than visceral blood and guts action. Not up to the level of The Conjuring, but definitely top five for the last 2-3 years.

Verlander had a very solid rehab start in AAA tonight as well. The rest of the division has kept us in it for the last two weeks...but we just don't have it. 14 hits for the Tigers tonight already.

They've also said that they were interested in Tanaka because of his younger age and the potential he had to be a true ace in a rotation. The White Sox can't go out and win a bidding war for Cueto and Price. Next, Samardzija is not an ace by any stretch of the imagination...and doesn't merit a $100+ million contract. They have the draft, Cuba and the Asian market. They won't blow past their international budget for the under 23 potential aces from Cuba because of JR. The best option is to continue to add chips like the consistent talent developmental organizations such as the Cards and Rangers have done (teams that have the depth to lose their aces or multiple starters and still be competitive.) Unless Montas makes tremendous strides the next three months, the main route left is someone like Cole Hamels or dumpster diving for the likes of a Brett Anderson to protect the back end of the rotation so that you can at least go .500 in those games.

That ball Avi hit was 6-8 inches off the plate...impressive coverage. He's a better breaking ball hitter (for power) at this point in his career.

If the Tigers had Nathan (although Soria has been better in his place), Verlander and Victor Martinez 100% healthy and they were still playing like this, Ausmus would have a lot more heat on him. If you removed Robertson, LaRoche and Samardzija from the White Sox roster, nobody would be calling for Ventura to be fired because you can't normally win without three of your highest paid players. When you lose a top five pitcher in baseball and the replacements are Simon and Greene...logic says that's a bit of a downgrade.

Best pitching performance of the season by Petricka. Nasty stuff tonight.
