  1. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:11 PM) I told my dog that Sale would give up a grandslam to Mike Trout tonight and that the Sox would lose. See, I knew we should have never started Sale. I knew it would end this way. Saw it all the way. RV is stupid for ever starting Sale against this team. He just got off the DL for the love of god! It was fine for him to go out for the 8th. But leaving him in after Ramirez's error was just dumb. Having Petricka, a fastball pitcher, match-up with Josh Hamilton, their hottest hitter in recent weeks...was just dumb, as well. They should have used Putnam, who has the type of movement and slower stuff to give Hamilton fits.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:08 PM) That was quick I don't think there was any doubt they were going to fold after Trout's ball cleared the wall... Oh well, right now we have about 1/2 of a starting outfielder for next year in Eaton, they're clearly more than a move or two from fighting for the WC. And, no matter what is said about this game later on, it probably wouldn't have happened if not for Alexei's error there that really gave the Angels life and quickly made the comeback seem quite possible.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) It was a change up low 94 MPH??
  4. Who's the consensus #1 pick for the draft next year? Just fire Ventura, tank the rest of this season and then fix all the problems in the offseason... There's no way this franchise can ever move forward with him as the mis-manager.
  5. And why isn't/wasn't Putnam in this game instead of Petricka? SIGH. LOL. Downs warming up. Hope he gives up another grand slam this inning. Sale's ERA now at 2.06 for the season. Sigh again.
  6. Worst, most disheartening loss since late 2012 and the five run lead Jake Peavy blew against Detroit as well that year. INCREDIBLE. Best inning of the season for the Angels, maybe the worst for Sale/Ventura/White Sox. Langston says the most impressive inning offensively in 2 1/2 year for the Angels.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) And then leaves RHP to face Hamilton. Have a game Robin Of course, would you have any confidence in Downs in that situation? That's the textbook, default manager's choice that can be defended to death.
  8. Angels turning their line-up around this inning. Eric Aybar with 10 RBI's on the last Angels' road trip....looking to do some more damage.
  9. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:51 PM) The Angels broadcast showed it, not sure if the Sox one did. He went down the tunnel and hammered it off the wall The last thing we need is another freak injury like Carlos Quentin's hamate.
  10. Please don't be one of these God-awful extra inning games where we use up every single reliever and lose in the 12th-14th. Almost rather they take a knockout blow right now. Well, no...can't quite agree to that. Trout was 1-10 against Sale coming into that AB. Cheated on the fastball. It was low, not a bad location. Just Trout was better in that instance.
  11. I'm sure Sale wanted to pitch to Trout....he loves that stuff. And Trout was behind on every single fastball at 94-96, but then the count caught up to Chris and he didn't have enough confidence to go to the offspeed pitch. That said, all of us were probably thinking he would get ONE hitter in the 8th, and definitely would have pulled him after the Ramirez error. Once again, Sox defense also killing this team...and the umps not helping, Flowers' lack of pitching framing ability, etc.
  12. Dammit Alexei. Now there's real danger here.
  13. Time to pull Sale. Any thinking about the CG should be gone, along with the shutout.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:29 PM) A nice inning from Cory "Stop Calling Me Colby" Rasmus Feel sorry for Grant Green, who was hitting .359 and got sent down anyway.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:06 PM) It was the best movie I've seen in quite a while, IMO. All that's left to do now is wait for Jenks to say how much he hated it haha. Some are comparing it to Aliens as well. The thing that's amazing to me is that Oblivion actually had a better debut, and that movie was so-so at best. (Surely word of mouth will carry Edge of Tomorrow to better results until Transformers wipes out all the competition). And you can't even discuss Olga Kurylenko and Emily Blunt in the same sentence in terms of acting ability...modeling, the Ukrainian gets the slight advantage. http://variety.com/2014/film/news/edge-of-...mil-1201215924/ "Disappointing" $29.1 million in the US, but it has made $140 million already including internationally...China almost beat the US box office, with an impressive $25 million (the only times I can remember that happening before were Pacific Rim, Titanic 3D and maybe Cloud Atlas). The only competition it will have here is Godzilla opening next weekend, then Transformers the 27th.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:25 PM) Was that dude honestly trying to take the bat away from the guy in the next brace? Is that a special promotional item for a new Nicholas Cage sequel?
  17. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) 1. Rodon 2. Mi Johnson 3. Danish 4. Montas 5. Sanchez 6. Adams 7. Beck 8. Anderson Are the guys that intrigue/excite me ATM and in that order. As far as rankings, who cares. You're joking about Anderson being the 8th most exciting player, right? Behind Sanchez, Beck and a guy who might never even sign with the Sox?
  18. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:19 PM) Well this pretty much ends Sale's chances at a CG. Unless he has like a 5 pitch 8th inning. We're not too far from the point where agents complain about teams extending their clients for CG's.
  19. Cron 12/27 with RISP. Not clutch. 12/28. Two K's for Cron.
  20. 2 hits surrendered to lefties all season...what's wrong with Chris Sale? CSINAA!!! Or, your typical Scott Downs LOOGY appearance.
  21. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:09 PM) He was at worst around average year. It's hard to find guys that can play CF. But he can't play CF. Sale 3-0, 0.38 career ERA against the Angels coming into tonight, and falling. Langston said it's the best start he has seen against LA this year so far.
  22. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:59 PM) Not sure why people think De Aza is a scrub. The guy was pretty good before, he's just been scuffling. Because of how poorly he played last year (fundamentals, baserunning, fielding...) and the fact he has been one of the least productive hitters in the majors for two months this season. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/sor.../qualified/true He still has the 8th worst OPS among qualfied hitters in the majors coming into tonight's game. If he was doing this coming off a really good season, and he wasn't a year older...then the concerns wouldn't be so loud.
  23. Still amazed there's only 4 teams with more runs scored this season in the majors when you look at our offensive production the last 2-3 weeks.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) I'd pick Buehrle. You're joking, right? Did Greg775 hack your account? Sale will be 6-0 after tonight, not that it means anything....but he was determined not to lose anything close to 14 games again (despite the barely above 3 ERA). At the end of the season, Buehrle will be around a 3.75 or 4 ERA.
  25. First hit of the season by a lefty against Sale...I think it was in the 0 for 40's or something. Hanger. Hamilton was almost not in the line-up tonight.
