  1. Dayan did a good job to cut down his swing and take an easier swing with an 0-2 count against Wilson. Foul tip? Flowers apparently isn't out.
  2. Another Gillaspie RBI for Greg775. Off a tough lefty, too. Someone made a Michael Cuddyer comp the other day, that would be incredible (and Cuddyer never played 3B well enough to stick there full-time), having to play LF/RF/1B/DH in the later part of his Twins' career.
  3. Angels' announcers convinced Trout should have walked. Then Pujols drills it, but RIGHT AT Ramirez. Good positioning/advance scouting there. 8 K's in 5 2/3. 9 K's. Sale really getting into the Angels' heads, have them all guessing wrong. Pitch to Trumbo right across the heart of the plate.
  4. Not much margin for error here, Chris. But all the starters are used to dealing with this scenario in 2013.
  5. At least Ramirez is hitting the ball back up the middle instead of pulling/hooking everything. Sale's ERA is down to 2.64. White Sox would pull into a 4th place tie with the Twins if they win this one.
  6. Think the pitching-starved Angels are regretting trading Patrick Corbin to the D-Backs for Haren in 2010? That's their version of the Daniel Hudson/Edwin Jackson trade, except for the fact that Corbin is healthy...
  7. Tigers win 2-1. Running on DeAza there right out of the box. Sigh.
  8. Runner on 2nd, 2 outs, last chance for the Rangers (Gentry) to tie it.
  9. 3-0 slider against Viciedo?? That's unusual. Here's the danger, that Dayan's going to get too aggressive and not accept walks with Keppinger behind him.
  10. Since when is Dunn nicknamed "Big Country"? And Billy Butler "Big Country Breakfast"? Where do they come up with these things?
  11. Rios the only offense. Cabrera K's (finally) in Texas as the game goes to the bottom of the 9th. Knee issues with Konerko? Didn't someone say he was also suffering from back problems? How many times has someone said "Paul Konerko's a professional hitter." LoL. Oh, if only he can return to that form one final time.
  12. DeAza is taking the "bonehead" plays title away from Ramirez. Well, at least DeAza made a decent defensive play there in CF. Nice catch on the liner. Angels' announcers were convinced after the first inning that Sale was vulnerable compared to Sunday night. Haha.
  13. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 17, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) DeAza with another base running blunder. Gone on first movement. How many mistakes has he made this year? Must be 25-30 that you could go through on a game by game basis and pick them out offensively/defensively/base-running.
  14. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 17, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) Tigers walking the tight rope in Texas. Got Cruz to hit a DP to end the inning with a man on 3rd in a 2-1 game. Better get a run in the top of the 9th. Wouldnt trust Valverde tonight in a one run game. Porcello pitched better than he had been to start the year... Left Martin at 3rd with one out and there was another situation with 1st/2nd no outs and got Nelson Cruz to hit into a DP. Moreland, Soto and Sox Killer Baker. Soto has his only two homers of the season 2 consecutive nights. Rangers have played 26 road games, only 16 home games. 12-4 at home, 2 of those losses to the mighty White Sox.
  15. DeAza walked? What's going on these days? First Viciedo becomes a walk machine, Dunn wakes up finally, Keppinger gets the game-winner...must be something in the air.
  16. Well, Gillaspie hit that one right on the button at Rios. He was slipping down nearly to the .260's but has rallied recently as the whole team has played a bit better the last few games. Oh, Tyler. Leave it to Flowers to pick up the first K. Hitting exactly on the Mendoza Line.
  17. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 17, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) Kipnis just hit a walk off 3 run homer Would be nice to have had him or Granderson on the Sox as the "local kids made good."
  18. What did Keppinger do? Looking in the box score, there's only an error on Flowers. Did the defense bail him out? This is reminiscent of last year. Cleveland and DET battling for first in the early going. White Sox positioning themselves to go on a late May run to get back into it. (Except CLE had all those amazing home comeback/bottom of the 9th victories...seemingly every game).
  19. Great change-up by Sale there to get Callaspo to roll over on the double play ball. Good idea for keeping that pitch count down.
  20. Well, before that at-bat, Viciedo was 15 for his last 35. Got him wrong footed on that curveball....couldn't stay back.
  21. The race for most errors continues.
  22. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130517 Thompson's batting average is creeping up. Arroyo continuing to pitch well.
  23. Cabrera 7 for 7 in "hard hit balls" so far against the Rangers. 3/3 tonight. 2/2 with RISP. Well over .500 avg now with RISP.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2013 -> 06:22 PM) Why single them out in particular when there are a plethora of more respected reviewers? They're sort of the People Magazine of entertainment news. *shrugs* I don't know, I think in some ways, they're the perfect reflection of mainstream or popular culture. You're right, when you look at "critical" reviews, you should start with Variety, LA Times, NY Times, etc. Plus, 90% of the time I tend to agree with their two main reviewers, Owen Glieberman and Lisa. Can't remember her last name off the top of my head. And usually I sample the top critics at rottentomatoes.com when I'm not sure about a movie. But I can't think of very many movies I've simply refused to see sheerly based on critical reaction.
  25. Verlander matched a career high with eight earned runs allowed. In his previous 240 starts, he had never had such a short outing in which he allowed so many runs. Verlander acknowledged that his slightly lower velocity in recent starts told him something was off. He got that fixed Thursday night: He was getting his fastball up to his vintage 97, 98 and 99 m.p.h. in the seven-run third. “I guess too much tinkering,” he said. “Back to the basics. I have to take away positives from tonight. It (the velocity) is there. Find consistency.” Verlander is 4-4 with a 3.17 ERA. His next start is due Wednesday in Cleveland. Monday’s open date will give him an extra day of rest, and he said he likely will throw two bullpen sessions between starts instead of the usual one. www.freep.com/sports Good god, Cabrera (.370) was hitting .490 with RISP coming into that last AB and got ANOTHER hit. Leonys Martin threw out the runner at home to preserve the 0-0 tie.
